- The SGX series was a popular and powerful line of guitar pre-amps/effects processors manufactured by ART (Applied Research and Technology) in the Early 1990's. These units were commonly used in many live guitar rack rigs and recording studios back in the day and had some cool tones and sounds. After nearly 30 years, where are they now? Are they considered junk?

Just bought one of these awaiting delivery. I read on Sweetwater that the SGX Nitro was in fact the slightly scaled down version of the SGX2000 Express. I also originally thought the SGX LT was the little brother. I regret selling my SGX Nitro. It had one of the best crunch and overdrive tones I've heard plus wacky synth sounds. Apparently the SGE Mach II preamp sounds similar. I currently have the tube SGX2000 Express which is less digitally sounding than their solid state preamps. Real nice tube warmth with vintage 80's fx..can't go wrong!
