Question about your thoughts on honey after reading this? "Unfortunately, not only is trehalose initially poorly absorbed from the intestines but within the intestinal wall there is an enzyme (trehalase) which can rapidly degrade trehalose into glucose. For the trehalose that bypasses this enzyme and gets absorbed, the threhalase present in the liver and the blood appears to finalize the digestion leaving little to no trehalose able to reach a cell and exert its therapeutic effects."
Another ho.erun Thomas. Quick question that I am certain others are wondering as well regarding changing a carb into a resistant starch. . .After the potatoes or rice sat in the fridge for a period of time are they still a resistant carb if they are then reheated for consumption?

He previously noted that he doesn’t life the Fairlife protein shakes…despite the fact they are keto friendly. It's fascinating to see how genetics influence all of this. I do phenomenal on carbs, even for fat loss. In my case I get more bang for the buck by limiting fat intake since it's so energy dense. But that's also because I have high-normal cholesterol levels so fat intake doesn't really "do" anything for me. If I had low cholesterol I would prioritize fat intake more.
@5:18, I’ve heard this from a few people about converting high glycemic index foods into resistance starches. I suppose you’ve measured your blood sugar levels after eating these foods once cooled and noticed very little insulin spike?

Yes!! Finally someone that carbs in low dose if they way to go. Had dome this a few months ago and what a huge difference...keto works but just too to tight. All in moderation. Thnx!
The thing I don’t like about Fairlife is that it is Ultra Pasteurized. This means it is heated to a very high temperature which, I’ve read, also destroys enzymes in the milk. When I can’t get raw milk, difficult around here, I get Kalona Supernatural. It’s low-temp pasteurized and not homogenized. It does mean you need to mix it up like raw milk because the cream separates and comes to the top. However, there isn’t the damage done to the fat, which impacts flavor. There is also some theories around that say that splitting the fat molecules into such small particles makes them more dangerous in regard to artery damage. Haven’t found any studies on this claim yet, so it’s a possible consideration on my list but…. I believe that another dairy (Washington State) that doesn’t homogenize milk is Grace Harbor Farms and Homestead Creamery in the East Coast. There may be more.
Question on the lentils. In past videos you recommend avoiding lectins for a healthier gut and lentils have them. Is it a certain type of lentil or just in small quantities? Thanks!
Make yogurt with raw milk straight from the cow using L Reuterii and L rhamsnous (sold as Fem-dophilus by Jarrow - available at vitamin shoppe) and make greek yogurt out of it. You could discard the whey if you prefer. And for a dessert I blended in raisins, craisins and walnuts, but I would think crushed blueberries work well too, may just thin it out a bit.
If you don't want to eat the whey you can use it in place of buttermilk, for soaking beans or other food uses, or for pets, or if you have enough of it you can make ricotta from it (that would require a good few litres)
Thomas I feel exactly the same with blueberries it’s just amazing. When I eat them I just feel happy, there is no other explanation … I feel faster, ready to do a workout … it does not happen with any other food. It’s not like the taste is amazing, it just feels amazing in the body … right away. And this was before I watched any video on this …
I understand why people cut out all carbs when they need to lose a lot of weight, but for many of us it’s not necessary, and probably even harmful. I like this channel for putting a bit more sanity back into the keto/carnivore vs vegan debate - a good balance, I would say. We all need to find the amount of good carbs beneficial to our own metabolism - just because our body makes carbs, doesn’t necessarily mean we don’t need to consume them.
I make tortillas using red lentils. I'll even make some "home fries" using red lentils as well, with some old bay and my own homemade ketchup (unsweetened)
Hi. Video request. Can you do a video talking about how your daily diet would be if you work out in the morning vs after work around 7 pm? I feel like I’m confused about when and what to eat so I have energy at the gym in the afternoon vs morning and the right stuff to keep me energized to I actually go to the gym and not tired and going home instead
Really interesting. Ditch the cooled/frozen potato for resistance startch and instead use a couple of tablespoons potato starch in a home made kefir made from real kefir grains(NOT the fake store bought kefir) berry bowl or smotthie. You can also add ground flax and or chia seed as well. You will get better gut microbial bang from that I would also use the raw milk to make the kefir and consume that instead of the milk. In fermented form, milk is harmless. However, if you consume milk as is regardless of whether it is raw or not, some research suggests you may end up increasing your risk of prostate cancer.
Thomas, do you have any information about what happens when you ferment some of these foods that you mention? I have done this with the raw purple potatoes and the red beets. Whole Foods sells a fermented beet product which I like. The potatoes weren't so tasty for me. I also make kefir out of raw goat's milk which is superb. But in any case, have you yourself tried making fermented veggies? Anyway, if you ever start DIY with fermented foods. I would be interested in knowing your insights.
I am surprised anyone prefer quinoa over potatoes or fruits. I tried it and its inedible unless you drown it in sause or soup. First time i eat quinoa i just felt like it taste exactly like gravel woud taste if it was eatable.
@@blackbunny4985 I prefer to eat it as porridge from quinoa meal. But if I couldn't stand the taste at all, I wouldn't eat it, either. After all, it's very benefical but in no way magic or so. There are plenty of alternatives to it.
@@blackbunny4985 It depends on how you cook the Quinoa. First, it has to be washed very well (even if it says it is washed already). Then I do prepare it with chicken 's broth (no fat) and some vegetables like carrots, peas, whatever I have. The bad thing is that organic quinoa can be expensive and unsustainable because it is produced thousands of miles away from the consumption center. I would choose locally grown food over imported ones on regular basis.

Oatmeal is fine - I add some flax seeds or chia seeds to make it less carby. If you eat it before doing some gentle exercise ( walking/ cycling) it’s less likely to raise your blood sugar. Also if you cool it and reheat it, it won’t affect your blood sugar as much.

After an extended period on keto I am finding my body can tolerate a few carbs better now than for many years. I'm not saying to just chuck the keto out the window and go back to eating normally. I would get the size of a barn in no time. But I can use a few carbs as immediate fuel if the need arises without fear of falling off the wagon. And yes I use those that are mentioned in this video, too. Although in saying that, my fingernails are again getting soft. So my body is not liking something I am using for extra fuel. I am moving house alone. It is the whole farm, not just a little house. I am very tired and for an older person, it is really hard work. So I am very tired at days end. A few carbs helps refuel me for tomorrow's session. Once the extra work is over I will stop eating these extra carbs and go back to being in keto all the time.
Thomas, I asked in another similar video you have on here. How do you refill glycogen in a small window for sprinting. I have read you need approximately 180 grams on a completely emptied reserve for sprinting. I have been doing and have done low carb in the past and it hurt peak performance on the bicycle while sprinting. I typically want to remain keto but carb cycle only for sprinting. Can you PLEASE do a video about this subject? I don't want to use dirty supplements or bad sources to do the carb loading . I only do max sprints and 40second intervals. Up to 800-1200 watt surges. On keto I can typically see a consistent bike length loss on my sprints against competitors. I had also seen about 40 lbs loss in max squat exercises in the past while glycogen depleted .
@thomasdelauerofficial do you only use the Seed symbiotic when you are making a change in your diet? Like switching from keto to higher carb or vice versa?

Been following awhile and you content just validates what I’ve been implementing for the past few years through trial and error. Super helpful conten.
I sometimes put watermelon in a bowl or a smoothie with pineapples and blueberries for Thomas. I eat blueberries every single day in Cottage Sheetz. Sometimes I do low-carb some days no carb, sometimes maybe too much carb.
Agreed. That is a good list. I'd pass on the raw milk, however other than that, 💯 i love lentils!
Love this we have switched to
Primarily eating these as carb sources so reinforces we made good switches. I second the deep dive on honey!
Please interview Sally K Norton about dietary oxalates and their impact on nutrition for athletic people. This is a real gap in the low carb space (she also focuses on lower carb/higher protein as well).
Remember they don’t impact everyone the same

My name is Valerie. Do you recommend this to a women like me that is going thru menopause and struggle with belly fat. I do IF and low carb with building hormone foods that I eat but still struggling. Would appreciate your tips and suggestions. Following you for years. Thank you for all you do ❤❤
He has done a video on eating and exercise for menopause
Yes!! Finally someone that carbs in low dose if they way to go. Had dome this a few months ago and what a huge difference...keto works but just too to tight. All in moderation. Thnx!
Thomas - would you please do a video on your carb cycling?
Yes I want this
Wow Thomas! I really appreciate this carb info! Now, if I could have a “healthy” cornbread recipe (I’m a southern boy).😂
Let us stay strong and keep praising the Lord even when times are hard 🙏 🙏
great list thanks.... I have most of those regularly too.. how about Grass fed plain greek yogurt, with a little honey or maple syrup and vanilla ?
Thoughts on beetroot extract supplements? I absolutely LOATHE the flavor of beets.
THANK YOU!! I have been doing research left and right on this topic man you’re the best
Thanks!
Thank you for the added valuable information. One other carb that I consume regularly is Artichokes. Any insight?
I appreciate you including studies but I'd appreciate it even more if you sited them in the description. It's not much extra work but super helpful.
How do you eat the purple sweet potatoes and red potatoes? Do you roast them? Do you have recipes for these food?
@@thebard20 I eventually did drink the whey as well. The insulin problem is worse with cheese whey instead of yogurt whey.
There is a brand called "Raw Milk" that sells Raw Kefir at Sprouts in the Illegal states. They are able to do so by labelling it as Pet Food.
😂😂😂😂
Thomas I feel exactly the same with blueberries it’s just amazing. When I eat them I just feel happy, there is no other explanation … I feel faster, ready to do a workout … it does not happen with any other food. It’s not like the taste is amazing, it just feels amazing in the body … right away. And this was before I watched any video on this …
How much do you eat ? I don't think Thomas ever mentions, he just says "a lot of blueberries". Is half a cup "a lot" ?
@@louprado8319 I eat 100g ... thats 57 cals ...
Me too.
I started adding a little bit of honey in my coffee before a workout and it gives me energy almost like having a pre-workout.
Thanks for all of the great insight!
Beets also great for dropping blood pressure it’s helped so many get off medication
What about buckwheat and quinoa? They are my two favorite carb sources.
Mine too
I like steel cut oats
For me as well I found adding carrots and onions back in helped a lot.
Would love to see you do a rake or research on date sugar and date syrup.
*take sorry
I’m cutting out 95% of my sugar intake for a bit. Tryna go basically full carnivore
What's your favourite way to cook sweet potato and red potato?
I think you should interview Sally Norton. Might change your mind about a few on this list.
Can you do a video on wild rice and if they’re good for low glycemic carbs as well as risk of heavy metals?
Question about your thoughts on honeyafter reading this? "Unfortunately, not only is trehalose initially poorly absorbed from the intestines but within the intestinal wall there is an enzyme (trehalase) which can rapidly degrade trehalose into glucose. For the trehalose that bypasses this enzyme and gets absorbed, the threhalase present in the liver and the blood appears to finalize the digestion leaving little to no trehalose able to reach a cell and exert its therapeutic effects."
Did I just hear you say "Wicked Cool". haha have you been hanging around Boston/New England - Love this video, thank you!
I was so hoping you were going to say oatmeal. I eat it with honey and blueberries and its delicious. It so great before a work out for me. Can you confirm that Oatmeal is ok?? I plan on adding some back in as well and am happy to hear that butternut squash and lentils are a good option. :) thank you
He will say oatmeal if you can find him a sponsor for it
He said in many previous videos that cold oatmeal is ok. The latest video is 5 carbs to start eating more of today - 5 days ago.
Just eat oatmeal... it won't kill you.
@@ZsuzsaKarolySmith yeah i do that same. I add flax and even some hemp seeds. I will continue to eat it. I usually eat it before i work out at the gym. i see he has already mentioned it before in other videos though. Thanks!
Go to 99 ranch market for purple on the inside sweet potatoes and white skin I think they are close to Okinawa
My mom for sure did not know the science behind the use of these produkts, but that was her favorits to eat and to serve.
Britt from Copenhagen, Denmark🇩🇰
Watermelon is such a terrific light snack! Arnold Schwartzenegger loves water melon for snacking too. Blueberries are great! Im still looking for purple sweet potatoes.
They are at Asian/Vietnamese grocery stores.
Recently discovered Hawaiian purple sweet potatoes (or yams?) and I love them. Bake at 260-270 for an hour.
Air fry?
@@lvncsr6166 Baked in the toaster oven.
Frozen blueberries, pouring Kefir over them, makes a nice quick frozen treat.
I watched a guy eat bread, take his blood glucose levels then the next day eat a piece of previously frozen bread and again check his blood glucose. Both created a similar glucose spike. The resistant starch idea didn’t work for him. I would advise caution if you’re T2D.
Learning so much from your videos! Thank you !!!!
What about pickled beets? I LOVE pickled beets. For juice, I prefer a pickle juice that are fermented, no vinegar, but the beets have vinegar...
What is your thoughts on Taro Root?
Once in the past I criticized you wrongfully
I have to apologize. I find your content very useful and knowledgeable

What’s your take on probiotics? Do you take them? What form and how often?
Cayenne also vasodilation option. 👍🏼
Thomas,
I asked in another similar video you have on here.
❤ Thank u. Excellent carb suggestions 🎉
@thomasdelauerofficial do have any studies about resistant starch, and that putting a potato in the refrigerator actual has a positive affect on the glycemic load of a food
I love frozen blueberries and cold watermelon
Frozon blueberries mixed with Greek Yogurt is awesome
Thomas! Can you do a video on iodine/iodide? I think i was deficient not eating iodized salt/much bread for years. Brazil nuts helped until I ran out of t4. Goitrogens/cruciferious veg/soy also deplete.
So would you recommend someone that is trying to lose weight stick with the strict ketogenic diet or experiment and carb cycle strategically?
Love this . Thank you Thomas
Would the honey on rice cakes for pre workout be ok or would the rice defeat the object of using the honey
Beetroot is something I've used before training for many years after i learned of its nitric oxide benefits, especially Boxing or Grappling.
I see a substantial performance increase.👍🙏
Carbs are needed to bind Protien to muscle tissue as I understand it. Its the gluttins in refined carbs that hurt me, inflamatory, and just NO. So I eat all Thomas mentioned, all those are great. Id say yams have one of the best nutrient profile along with blue berries, raw not boiled honey has miraculous aspects to it.
Are/Can the sweet potatoes become a resistant starch?
Do find fresh wild blueberries? I can only find them frozen any only at whole foods or trader Joe's
I love your harmony, Thomas.
Hi what about pumpkin is that included in the butternut
When Thomas says chick peas and red lentils and i get excited to have Koshary again 😅❤🎉🎉🎉
I'm new to keto, this is my 4th week. Can I already implement some of these carbs in my diet for more energy in workouts and energy in general?
