Thanks for posting this video. It takes courage to show a technical install by a DIYer. Everyone gets to see every success and failures (but you nailed it!). I have the same heater, That I am putting in my Transit, under the seat as well. So very timely. Another very excellent video for this install was just put out by Adventure Wagon on their website. I would highly recommend viewers see it as well.
Thanks for following along : ). I'll check out the Adventure Wagon video! I'd also recommend checking out the new guide that FarOutRide just put out on their website: faroutride.com/espar-install - looks like they just did the exact same install (they have some of the best DIY guides IMO). Best of luck!
I've owned 2 Transits I put heaters in - a 2015 and a 2018. Both had fuel taps already installed from the factory- no need to drop the tank. Just pull off the black cap with the yellow clip and pop on a pickup adapter available from Ford.
Ahh that’s the dream. The newer espar gas heaters recommend dropping the tank and install a custom standpipe to get the correct fluid flow. Didn’t want to risk veering from the install guide. I think it’s worth the peace of mind - especially at elevation!
As a professional installer, don’t use the stock pickups from ford! In this vid you can see the orange tube that connects to that point is much larger than the stock espar fuel line. It will make the pump work way too hard and cause premature failure or air bubbles. I have fixed many heater issues by installing a new standpipe.
Installing the heater pre faroutride guide was definitely the hard mode install. Good luck with the tank drop! I found the videos from the AVC rig instagram useful. I also ended up re-routing my fresh air intake to a shorter run towards the middle of the van under the exhaust pipe. All working well! Fav part of my van so far 🔥

Looks like we both installed our heater at the same time 😄 Good work! I still have to drop my tank, though...
