Hello Person.
After Outer Edges we were trying to find a new direction for Noisia. This resulted in an extensive journey that took us through a lot of new ideas and music.
Although we eventually decided to stop, we are proud of the things we made along the way, and these tunes were always meant to be part of a larger whole. So before we finally close the book on Noisia, we wanted to share them with you, on one last album. Previously released or newly finished, they all represent directions we enjoyed exploring.
In the end, we didn’t manage to figure things out. But we did get closer.

U are my Idols 🖤🖤🖤 DnB 4 life
Noisia, BSE, and DnB 4Lyfe!!!!!!
This track and Supersonic VIP are my absolute faves from the album
tomorrow ;_;
Mmm yes the "X box" I love that thing
Back in the days productions had a more bass heavy sound with a high focus on complex groovy drum patterns and breaks. The clipping and waveshaping in the sound design we hear in todays modern neurofunk and dnb landscape is replaced by a strong sense of athmosphere, pads and rumbling basslines. Funky jittery halftone step riffs and filtered eerie unison saws created this unique mix of rythm and neodigital dread. The stereo width in the bass regions is another example which might be unorthodox seen from todays standarts but gave the genre a bit of spice and rawness in my opinion. I think the shift around the 2010s or even some years later really started to turn away from this sound to the more clear, controlled and produced sound the genre is known for today. Tracks like "Misanthrop - Viperfish" or "Noisia-Vanishing Point" come to mind. The pace was intense and the athmosphere dense.
The dubstep craze around 2009-13 influenced many to take on a more mid-heavy less rumbly and sub focused compositional approach and sound design. This shaped the sound of edm and even music as a whole to this day. To me these years where the perfect mix between aggression, youthfull rythms and unadulted extremes. The limits got pushed and soon people distanced themselve production wise from the oldschool "vibes" to reach extremes like "heaviest, most intense" etc etc. This informed a lot of great music in the lifespan of the dnb scene. The little brother dubstep gave his older brother DnB new inspiration so to speak. A lot of redundancy was created in this time but a lot of diamonds aswell. The nu-metal phase of DnB so to speak. Synths like massive and nexus dominated the synth landscape like serum does today and buzzword filled youtube toturials started to plop out of the earth like trees. It was the ultimate musical edm gateway for the late millenial generation and i look back at this time pretty fondly. The whole Emperial EP, Split the Atom album or even later tracks like "Noisia & Prolix - Asteroids" from the purpose EP and Mefjus & Misanthrop - Stutter breath this feeling of intensity.
Around the time when trap and more sub bass oriented things became more popular and started to influence and inform many genres the mid bass era shifted again into something rather prestine. New production possibilitys, cleaner and more dynamic sound resulted in an approach to reach a higher level of clarity, volume and scale. Compositions became more minimal and more defined around singular elements rather then complex moving parts. An philosophical departure from the overflowing sound of dubstep to a more determined one. This shift was of course not only resulting from what was popular or trendy but was also (as always) the result of the increasing high level of skill producers aquired over the years. This skill wanted to be expressed. What is lost in rumbling and deep bulking sound was gained in clearity, punch and dimension. In the last couple years trendsetters like noisia also lead the scene in a more melodic, nostalgic and rather emotional direction with less focus on complex percussion and aggressive midbasses. Interesting chords and experimental sound-design aswell as rythms started to rebel against the stale overproduction of the clean and steril sound. The comparison of noisia's "the tide" with their newest stuff like "Nova" in my opinion really shows this change through the years perfectly and really depicts how the genre and its expressions changed.
I love DnB in all its forms and colours aswell as this amazing track from Noisia which illustrates the vibe and flare of the music today while also having some nice throwbacks. It really motivated me to write this little personal recap of music history how i experienced it. Music is a journey and i cant wait to see what is going to happen next to the microcosm which manifested out of a wormhole many years ago.
Biiiguuuuup Noisia and thank you so much for everything.
If you ever make a video essay about the evolution of drum and bass I'd watch it
Nicely said sir! Great overview! :)
Personally I'm still craving this old school neuro sounds
Awesome
Dnt waste your word finery heeya...I didn't...Oh wait...
Impeccably well said my friend. I don’t think I’ve ever agreed with something word for word like this. Big up old head. I still jam out 05 noisia frequently whilst listening to all the new vision stuff. It has certainly evolved, but there is some just absolutely mind blowing sound design out there that is too good to not appreciate within dnb. Heck I love your words. Very well said and standing ovation 😂😂 there’s a really good Alix Perez mix up from a recent New Zealand tour and it is phenomenal. Whilst also mentioning Tsuruda’s set from the same night and also on RUclips. Highly recommend both but as a dnb head check out Alix Perez’s mix. Silky smooth and disgusting at the same time. Much love man!
Breaks of that magnitude in the second half were something I thought I'd never hear again from Noisia. What better way to absolutely send it for the finale than going all in with BSE like old times.
Beautiful.
i can't find any informations about that BSE synth that you talk about. Can you tell more about it ?
@@AlexisPerge Not a synth, BSE stands for Black Sun Empire, the other group featured on the track 👍
Arrakis is a true classic amoung many others
Fuckin oath brother. Slapped me for fuckin six , excuse the French. What a tune. That second half is what it's all about. As a muso and producer, I feel like I'm spinning in some Galactical realm of bassness and other worldy. Too huge with those snares that just cut the mix. Impeccable tunes as always. Followed the whole evolution and it's been a huge 20 odd years. I love how many people dig them now, and yet so many still don't know just how influential they have been in the bass/dnb/electronica scene
@@Gaia_blooooom They really did change the game. Though they're barely known outside the more hardcore electronic fans, their influence has permeated the full width of much more mainstream stuff via people they've colaborated with and shared their wealth of knowledge with. Who woulda thought a few kids on the DOA forums would turn into such a force. "What's a reese?". Wild ride.
Impressive use of the iconic BSE synths meshing well with the modern DnB sound.
Woah, didn’t know that’s what this was! GNARLY!!
Absolutely pristine
Noisia and Black Sun Empire never disappoint!
Yep, pretty much guaranteed to be 10/10!

Лучший трек за 10 лет. Реальный капслок я на дропе в окно прыгнул
What a fucking masterpiece for this genre and sound design as a whole
the breaks on the second, nearly got whiplash turning my head so fast
BSE and NOISIA is always a grantee
Now you talking. Proper Noisia! My birthday by the way 12 of May. I’m getting old and feel sad but have to be happy on my BD. Noisia drops the album and I’m happy but so sad it is the last one. Everything has its end. Noisia era was one of a kind. Almost like a life of human being on its own. First small Groningen steps and few years later toddler already fighting like a boss, then it’s grows up and mellows but very confident and by the end of the life it is grown wise Noisia. No reason for unnecessary aggression, every step and move has its reason. Thank you Noisia for being with me all these years. I lived my life with you. And thank you for releasing album on 12 of May. Can I please consider it to be my birthday present too? Because you part of me. Tank you.
Cheers to that man, and happy birthday! We share the same birthday, best present to ever receive 🍻

WTF is happening here... I love that classic breaks and diversity! Maybe an album of the year with a "Black Sun"?
Даже моему деду зашло
Твой дед моей бабке по ходу ссылку скинул и ей зашло! 😁
даже моему, хоть его и нет)
Damn, it sounds like a music for demo for Amiga :D Or for Farbrausch, pc :)))))
After they part ways, are they going to stay as solo acts, such as Nik's Sleepnet?
Seems like it. When they announced Noisia would end, I remember them talking about how they all had ideas where they wanted to take Noisia, their ideas just weren't matching anymore.
Thys, Sleepnet, Zonderling, Body Ocean and maybe more
кальянный нейрофанк. понял, спасибо. вы ещё Мияги позовите на перепевку
Zzziiick
Arakis Part II
