Let's face it, it was the greatest Olympics ever and most likely will be
Could not agree me old mate. I was/am living in southern Spain and I know I annoyed the locals in the bar but sometimes it's just great to be British.
@@stevelee4952I'm hoping you meant more
UK peaked in 2012 with this. If I could go back in time I would, I don't recognise this country to be the same as we used to. I wish there was a way of knowing you were in the good days before they're over.
Likewise Loren, it truly was the peak
i really enjoyed the worlds in 2017 , the atmosphere in the stadium was electric. for me the Brits are the best crowds, partisan for their own of course but really supportive of all athletes
I loved every moment of London 2012 and I still get goosebumps watching the video clips. Very proud to be British.
too right Matt! our athletes work their backsides off to bring glory for Britain
Agree! And just look how far we’ve come
Couldn't of put it better myself...much love
Just watched it all again on the bbc today.12 years on and still a tear in my eye.how mad is that.fantastic 3 weeks of sport that i for one will never forget.
From an American- My Most Sincere Congrats to our Best Allied Friend!
Team GB was awesome as the host nation of the 2012 Olympics. They kicked ass as well. This is coming from an American.
Hi owenpeterson, Hope You are Well & Thanks for the Compliment(s) from a Brit!, You should know what You are Talking about being from a Nation of the Biggest Ass Kickers at Olympics!, I am glad to see that Soccer has Evolved there too in a Big Way!, With USA Women probably the best on the Planet having Won 3 World Cups and the Men doing good and with a Respected League(s), Also good to see USA in Rugby Union & League!,But also I Love the Baseball & American Football that is shown in the UK!.Take Care!,Basil Fawlty.
They didn't do so bad 4 years later also in Brazil. (No more East Germans to contend with...you know, the women sprinters with few extra hairs). There's a lot of money put into to training today, and the results show it. In the Olympic games in Atlanta 1996 games saw Great Britain's worst performance at a Summer Olympics since 1952. As final medal rankings were tabulated, Great Britain finished in 36th position, with just one gold and overall total of just 15 medals. Then they realized something had to be done. Investion though amongst other things lotteries. Maybe the Atlanta disaster was a wake-up call.
@@justclosing Atlanta stands out for me as the most chaotic Olympics in history. From the lack lustre opening ceremony, with Oprah trying to kick a football into the net, to shootings, inept organisers, dreadful team lodgings, failure of equipment, lack of proper and timely transport from the teams village, to name but a few. It was the only time that the Olympic President failed to congratulate the US for a successful games, because they were a perfect example of how to not showcase an international sporting event.
Country was manipulated to win. Sports and media wise
I went to NYC shortly after this and whenever people heard my accent and asked if I was English, they congratulated me on the London Olympics. It was weird but also made me feel very proud of my country.
I miss 2012. No division, no hate, no arguments - just the whole nation coming together to support our men and women against the rest of the world. Iconic.
It was before the flood gates of immigration opened hence why they were better days
Always been a huge fan of sports. London 2012 made me feel super proud to be British. It was a glorious summer. People were happy everyday. I loved it. What a time.
Stadiums were always full. I feel so happy watching this
This was exceptional sportsmanship from the UK. These Olympics touched a lot of people, including your Trans-Atlantic cousins here in the US! I even cried when Jessica Ennis won, and I'd barely heard of her then. I also think Andy Murray is an absolute legend. GB captivated and dominated in 2012 as far as I'm concerned. Normally, I would never utter such words- but when I recall these London games, I have to give in and say Rule Britannia:) Lots of love from California.
Thanks ever so much x
Thank you for your kind comments!
So lovely to hear that this was important to you guys too. Always love ❤️
This was the greatest year in British sporting history
Union Jack is identity of Great Britain it's very classy. Love u UK
2012 Olympics will be the greatest Olympic games in this Century.
Chris Hoy’s tears are the Elixir of immortality
In a year with an Olympics with no crowds, watching this makes me so emotional. What a summer it was! Good luck to all of the Team GB athletes in Tokyo.
It’s done the same to me. If people don’t fight back against the agenda governments across the world are imposing on us we will never see these sights again.
when team GB get it right no country in the world can stop us
what you expect its 3 countries in one....what if USA, China and Australia combine one can touch them
^^Twat. Great Britain has 66 million people. USA, China and Australia combined together have like 1.696 billion people. Considering Britain is smaller than Texas it's not bad for an island
Brans 2468 doesn't matter end of the day 3 countries is 3 countries, every other nation don't need neighborly help so why do yous....England, Scotland and Wales need to learn to stand on their own two feet. You Mutt!!!!
It's not about helping each other out and trying to stand on each others own two feet. Britain has been united for hundreds of years they have always been together in wars and in sports. Stop chatting shit please. Try concentrate on your own countries achievements.
Brans 2468 it is helping out if you think about it especially in team sports its a unfair advantage especially to smaller nations whom compete solely for their nation eg. If England weak in a certain position fill it up with either the best from the Scots or Welsh so your so call history of combine international sporting program need to change for the fairness to lesser nations, so not talking shit here just sporting fairness.
when I see the union flag I saw to myself "I'm British and proud" and this was one of the proudest moments
Without a doubt.
This bought us together in ways words can't describe. I get emotional watching it back. Great times, Great Nation, Great Britain 🇬🇧💙😪
these scenes inspired me at 40 to lose weight and change my life. i live in Belfast NI and i love being British and so proud of these Olympic. Please don't give up on us UK we love you xxx
best olympics ever, greetings from germany
The greatest days of my life.
From the US & an American Congrats to the UK as our Best allied friend for being such a good host and a Great Showing on their own turf in these games!
This was the year that the Great was put back into Great Britain
truly inspirational, time of my life watching these games.
What about 2020 ??
Possible facts not generally known, no. 1, GB is the only country ever to win at least 1 gold medal at every Olympics held, no. 2, London is the only city to have staged the Olympics 3 times, no. 3, GB is the only country to have won more gold medals than the rest put together at an Olympics, and no. 4. GB is the only country to have improved their tally of medals at a subsequent Olympics.
flip inheck. It is as far as the olympics is concerned. Stop nit picking.
flip inheck. Go and annoy someone else, you pedantic muppet! If you ARE British, be proud if not, then bugger off!
They way team GB celebrated 2012,it was like this would never happen again but it happened again at the Rio Olympics in 2016.Farah, Murray,Hoy,kenny and all athletes did it again. Well done
Bloody good times. Go teamGB!
It's the sheer breadth of sports that's so impressive
Was one of the most uplifting things to ever happen to the country. I remember getting cover on my shift to watch the opening ceremony and super Saturday the best nights entertainment I've ever seen anywhere.
Performing at home seemed to bring the best out in everyone! So proud of everyone
this was an amazing time and on home soil too it made even sweeter ..truly hand on heart it was the best Olympics ever it made me super proud
pround to be british and to be called it.
Certainly one of the greatest experiences of my life, I don't think Britain has been as united since. Incredible that it is approaching a decade on.
I’m British and I’m proud 🇬🇧
Miss every minute of it.
Amazing video, much love from the USA
This was for me the best Olympics ever. Of I'm biast, as it was in my home town and I was a volunteer. But the atmosphere was wonderful!
I loved everything about it!
This was one of the few times I could say I am proud to be British.
So you're British only a few times then. What are you the rest of the time..????
Always British, just not always proud
I’m always proud
What’s there not to be proud of?
Really? I'm proud all the time!
Jessica Ennis was such a queen in 2012
Humble, hardworking and naturally gifted.
I miss this time for so many reasons, my biggest regret was not applying to be a volunteer during the games, but in a way I'm also pleased I didn't, I got to see so many amazing moments in these people's careers, even watching back now 11 years later I get a huge lump in my throat, absolutely amazing
Goosebumps. When people say to me 'you're so English' I say 'thank you'.#britishandproud
Have rarely been prouder to be British than those few days. Can't really say the same now unfortunately...
@@kevinian5528
You should stay proud of what you are regardless of the situation.
Three minutes 20!? THREE MINUTES 20?! How the hell are going to be able to do justice to our great team in THREE MINUTES 20?!
You know what? I think you've managed it....EXTRAORDINARY EFFORT!
I remember the atmosphere around the country at the time being on such a high .. I remember the Olympic torch coming our town of Heywood Greater Manchester and the crowds that turned out were unbelievable … must have been ten deep Al the way through heywood .. great times and to have that buzz and atmosphere back again !! 👍
It was an amazing time to be in London.
Actual tears
I’m not born in The UK but I’m very proud to see this because of my English ancestry. If for whatever reason I was an athlete and changed countries my choice would be Great Britain because of my family haritage. Proud to be 1/4 British
Where are you from then? Australia? Australia is probably the closest the UK in the world. But could also be NZ or Canada. All amazing countries.
These people send shivers down my spine
GB/UK is I think ranked 4th overall in terms of Medals at the Olympics (Summer & Winter!), I think it is amazing for a Nation 21st in Population & 78th in Land Mass Size!.
This is magic! And I wonder how many Brits can say they haven't got a tear in their eye watching this? xx
Mate im in floods of tears haha
proud to be british!!!!!
Truly amazing time. Team GB is simply the best!!
I play the DVD of whole 2012 Games once a year, just before Xmas.
Was the greatest year for British sport....
Super Saturday will remain right in the hearts of our nation for generations to come. Our amazing island country :)
And find myself here again
What an amazing summer that was
I'm going to be in the Olympics one day. I swear it
good luck! 😊
Bring the team gb luck
Victoria how’s it going?
Good luck do us and yourself proud we will be with you every step of the way 🇬🇧💙
British and proud. This brought us together like nothing else.
I have very vague memories of watching Moscow 80 as a 5 year old but the first Olympics I remember properly is LA 84.Having watched them all since and enjoyed them all, London 2012 is at the top of the list.
Remember when the city was buzzing?
Brits are so classy
VERY PROUD of always.
What a great olympics and we did the country proud.
also not to be bias but... London 2012 Olympics > every other olympics
Magic times!
I miss this Britain
Just made me cry lol.
Everything sort of went downhill after this didn't it.
Got too big for our boots
Watching the olympics this year in corona world then coming here to watch this. The full and passionate crowd all their happy faces on show, that’s what makes the olympics special not just for us as viewers but for the Olympians. If you don’t fight for your freedom and reject the great reset and tyranny from governments due to covid we will never see these sights again.
In tears
Great opening ceremony.
I cry everytime
Always good to have BBC commentary over it. Olympics and BBC are always a great marriage
Both Olympic and BBC reached their peak, then.
Got something in my eye.
Am proud to be British citizen ♥️♥️
2012 was the last year I was proud to be British
I miss this
Half past six going to work thinking oh no watch this and think yeah i can do anything lol
I was 8 I didn't watch many of the events Bedtimes and that but hearing my Parents downstairs screaming at what this country had achieved it was a fantastic Games and Paraolympics. Walsall the area I live next to was put on the Map at the Paraolympics with Ellie Symonds the girl who trained in the Swimming Baths I had swam in winning gold. Ten years later At the Queens Jubilee Diversity highlighted that for a Country with half of 1 percent of the world's population we have done some amazing achievements. It makes you to proud to be British I will be English first and foremost but during those times of reuniting I would be British. Now Birmingham my local large city has the Commonwealth Games, hopefully many iconic moments at the Alex are had. Cus no matter what people say about this rock in the Atlantic ocean we are truly special.
UK is a global community that is a scientific power.
Team GB 🇬🇧.
I was never prouder to be British than during those two weeks. What an awesome nation of people we are. Even though those 'wits try to do us down.
People ask me where I’d like to live. I answer, London in 2012. We were warm, friendly, outward looking, welcoming. Look at us now. Oh, what have we become?
I don't care about the other teams go TEAM GB!!!!!!
GB TRIPLE THREAT
RUTHERFORD × MO FARAH × JESSICA ENNIS-HILL
oh go on......can we do another one please.
I worked hard and want to get to the Olympics one day
Not skating lol haha I do cycling for kent
In Kent I mean

Lauren Coulthard I've worked hard and am still working hard. Track and field!

Olympics 🇬🇧🏴 2021 . Aquatic center Stratford . 🏆🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🏆🏆🏆🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇
My boy Moxamed Farah❤
I remember in high school my mates used to call team GB, team Gay Boys😂😂
Proud to be British!!
Nise
2012, 2016 ..Just a little bit more than Matthew Pinsent and Steve Redgrave. GB's only Gold in Atlanta 1996. I think GB has made up for terrible appearances in the World- and European Cup by being 3rd in Rio and 4th in London. Maybe we should have had a UK team in football.
2021 21
Peak Britain, this.
What is the name of the track being played in the background?
Darude - Sandstorm
I won the word . World champion champion
Bacground music address please
do wish the commentators would quit calling them team GB. I remember when we were known as just GREAT BRITAIN. if it aint broke don't fix it I say.
But we only finished third in the medal table............I'll get my coat :)
Still as fresh a memory some 8 years later.
