    Think about these before attending and/or selecting and/or applying to an architecture school:
    - Find out who is going to be teaching you - large urban schools tend to draw a lot of working professionals instead of smaller ones - so you can get a better idea of the profession
    - See if you can tour the architecture facilities. Do they have laser cutters? 3D printers? Will they give you a computer and/or software? Try and walk through studios!!
    - Set your own personal goals as to what you want to accomplish with the major
    Are you looking to teach?
    Do you just want to be licensed?
    - Do you want a pre-professional degree which requires a M.Arch degree in order to be a licensed architect? OR, do you want a professional degree and then go straight to practicing architecture at a firm? Some schools offer 4+2 programs, some offer a 5 year program. Do you research!!!

    ok, you mentioned it. MAKE SURE YOUR SCHOOL IS GETTING YOU THE Barch. 4 year professional degrees are nice, but you will HAVE to continue on. My daughter is graduating this year (school in pa not on this list) and as i come from a construction background, i can see that she received a good education. She intends to go to grad school and has been accepted to Cornell, amongst a few others. REMEMBER, in Architecture school you learn creativity. You don't learn the business. Especially if you intend to go into commercial construction arena, make sure you gobble up every course you can about contract administration and specifications. They're usually electives and are more important and will prepare you better for the real world once you get out of school. And first yera of the Barch program, is basically let's see who really wants to be an architect. 50% typically drop out of the architecture programs.

      hi! ik this is an extremely late response but I was accepted to umass for architecture bfa (they don’t have another kind of bachelors degree for architecture, many other schools give a BS). this was back in 2017 so this might have changed since then. I didn’t have a great experience so I changed majors within a few weeks, but if you reeeaaally love to draw and have a creative mindset then you might like their program. my class was small and barely focused on stem, the program heavily focused on art and art history hence bfa. the school does have great architecture on campus! it really depends on why you want to go into architecture and your plans after graduating. if you’re more of an art person then this program could be a great fit, but don’t expect to be immersed into the sciences as much as other programs would

I also attended the WAAC extension and they offer study abroad opportunities. Another thing to note when visiting these schools is look at the other design programs (i.e. Landscape, Urban Planning, Building Construct, Interior) as she may want to complement or change her study focus.

    You might want to give the Newschool of Architecture + Design in San Diego a look. Both BS or MS degree and they recommend you get your basic requirements completed at a school offering an associate degree. They also teach the core curriculum there but because it is a professional school, those classes are pricey. If you are a veteran, NSAD accepts the VA yellow flag program. They also have degree programs in interior architecture, product design, media design and construction management. They are accredited by all the proper agencies too.

      Newschool has the BArch and M Arch, don't use the terms BS and MS. It just gets people confused about what is required in order to get licensed.

      Your university is probably going to use something called Handshake. I recommend using that network and search for jobs there! It's a great resource. Also LinkedIn is another way to find firms and network with employers. I made a video about how to get hired here if you want to check it out: [ ruclips.net/video/2Z4ZyU3Atjc/видео.html ]
      Networking is really important because it can lead to a job. I have been able to network and then get hired because I had a more personal approach to the hiring process in architecture. I hope this helps! I go over everything in the video though, so it can probably serve as a better explanation of the whole process!

      There not even the best in California. I would say their behind Cal Poly SLO, USC, and Cal Poly Pomona in undergrad. And for Masters their behind UCLA, UC Berkeley, and USC in California.

      Obviously you did not go to those schools as she explained the criteria for ranking and who provided the poll in the beginning of her video.

    • @rr7firefly
      @rr7firefly 2 месяца назад

      @@michaelsd284 I personally know instructors and brilliant alumni from each one and I have seen their student work. I also know quite a bit about Cornell, SCIArc, Rice from visiting their architecture programs. I attended UT Austin and Notre Dame so I also know about both architecture programs. In the end these ratings are going to be subjective, as different schools have different emphases in their approaches to teaching design.

    • @michaelsd284
      @michaelsd284 2 месяца назад

      @@rr7firefly Agree, typically these types of "Best" rankings are subjective. I was just a bit put off by your statement "Too intellectual" as it came across as a slight to those schools on the list. All the schools you've identified have good programs and approaches which is fantastic for creative minded people so they can find a program that best fits them.
