  • The recent earthquake in Bárðarbunga is just a part of the unrest since the 2014 eruption but I'm also going to take a look at the North Iceland where the Tjornes fracture zone is always a threat in addition to increased seismic activity on the north Iceland rift zone.

Thank you for the update from your windy and very snowy Iceland. Sorry, your sports dome has not landed here in the Netherlands. We had three storms in a row with lots of damage and unfortunately people got killed by falling trees, but the wind blew from the W to SW, so no dome here.

Hverfjall crater has no lake. Does this mean all the water has soaked into the ground and will give a phreatic eruption if it does?

Yes, the spring comes with force this year, not only in Iceland. In Britain a number of people got killed, and the roof of a football stadium was blown away. The storm doesn't like sports it seems.
Also here in Germany the storms (its 3 or 4 by now) have caused a lot of damage, mostly trees falling, sometimes hitting cars and people. But also a large block of flats - with 40 apartments or so - burned out completly, appearantly the wind has made the fire so intense that it was not possible to extinguish it. Thank god nobody got killed in there. ruclips.net/video/Sqy7gQLD3Ns/видео.html

It's still not a problem here, land uplift is more of a problem like in the coastal town Höfn where the harbour is at risk since it's near Vatnajökull glacier and the land rises as the glacier melts. So it was in the news the other day that the harbour is a great risk due to that.
