- Fire agates are an amazing gemstone. Beautiful colors in the "Fire" @ThatCampingCouple took me out on an adventure deep in the Arizona desert looking for the beautiful Fire Agates the area is known for. And I was not disappointed.

Dan....would you spend an episode with discussions/pics/vids of the various "day-use mines" around the country? Like the diamond mining episode in Ark.
Just a quick "Dan's top 20 Places to take your kids to dig" for various gems for a few hours.
I grew up in Arizona exploring the desert. I go back every summer during my vacation and explore my favorite fire agate, turquoise, and petrified wood spots out in the middle of nowhere. I absolutely love the Arizona desert and all the treasures it holds.
I loved sunrise or sunset to find them after a good rain. You see white everywhere and as the sun rises or sets they start glowing red. Neat little trick.
and it's been raining like crazy out here
I've never been too into Fire Agates but watching you find them in their natural setting has changed my mind. Completely. Thanks Dan.
Heck yeah, Dan!!! 🤘 I found my first piece of fire agate on a Globe camping trip. It was a brisk morning, and I was using the outdoor restroom, squatting as most do, when I saw a curious rock right in front of me. Thank goodness it was NOT behind me... 🤣
Dan - the US Postal Service has a "Priority Mail Flat Rate" service with three sizes of boxes. You can stuff whatever will fit inside the box and ship it anywhere in the US for a flat rate, up to 70 lbs / 32 kg per box. Costs about USD 21 for the large box. I've used it to ship heavy wood turning blocks back home from Hawaii. So if you have a friend just over the border in the States, you can ship as much as you want there and drive over to pick it up. Just be sure to use reinforced packing tape to wrap the box around all sides and especially the corners. Ask me how I know this.
I found some when I lived near Duncan.
I love watching this guys content but sometimes I get really jealous that he can go out and find gold, Gems actual treasure and I struggle just to find my car keys
Maybe a fire agate keyring would help to find them faster?
LoL I know right
@The Scourge Tootles? Is that you? 😉
Maybe if you check your pockets you'll find a fire agate.
This comment is the best! 😂
Dan wouldn’t look out of place with a long, grey, floppy point to the top of his hat… he IS pretty much the Gandalf of Geology around these parts.. 😉👍
The Red Rock Wizard!
Back in the late 70's and early 80's I got into working fire agate. I found one peacock sample that I cut and traded it to another gem dealer for quite a nice malachite/azurite cab. Love finding the fire.
Thanks for taking me along on your prospecting (virtually) each week!
You found some real treasures, Dan! Gorgeous stones... Wish I could travel out there and go for a little hike to find some of my own.
I found and dug up around 40 lbs of black fulgurite when i lived in Arizona! The hole was big and deep enough that my arm fit in past my elbow! I'm going to send you pictures soon!
Dan, Thank you for sharing your adventure and finds. Good stuff ! Arizona is a treasure trove for rock collectors. Take care, eh ?
Wish I had known you were coming to my state, I have a gold reef I could have taken you to when you were at the gem and mineral show.
Love what you do in the states. Roll out the red carpet for Dan in Arizona.
You could mail yourself the rocks. I love your videos Dan!
Lovely to see you joining that camping couple!! I wish they would make some more videos!! Good to see you too 😂
I am addicted to watching Dan Hurd videos. He's amazing and such a great guy 😊❤. I've actually learnt so much from him and never expected to! Keep up the great work Dan. X
You and Pauly have the best adventures! I am so glad I met you and Dana at a fair before Covid. You had the most beautiful jewelry and display. Following your channel and then seeing Pauly on it and following him, has given me years of arm chair adventure. Thank you.
Frank and Kyndall are pretty lucky as couples go--that they are both so into the same things enough to travel the continent together full-time pursuing those interests is really great. How do I get a Kyndall of my very own? :) :)
Favourite episode by far, only because fire agates are my favourite stones! 😂 Cheers Dan!
Congratulations Mr.Hurd🤟🏼🧔🏽♀️🤙🏼
That was FUN!!
Thank you 🤗
My Grandpa would of loved your channel. ❤

The “Burro Mud Agate”
💩 😂
*Hey Dan I'm from Arizona and also named Dan, I love your videos and I would love to meet you one day.*
This channel is so much fun. I have wanted to go looking for gold, gems or metal ore for 20 years but never had an opportunity. This is a fun channel to watch, but it also gets me wanting to go out and look for myself.
Dan could you do a few videos on how to get Started in prospecting? Or suggest a Discord or Reddit for us who want to follow in your footsteps?
Keep it up!
Welcome to AZ Dan! There's tons of beautiful stones to find. Just remember to leave a little something to give thanks. ❤ Hopefully, you'll get to enjoy a little warmth while you're here.
Been watching you for quite a while now.
Good prospecting
Hi from Germany. I love watching your videos
I know exactly where you are! I've gotta go back down there to go rockhounding!
A very large location, perfect for adventurers looking for gemstones and agate, this is the ideal place, good luck 👌👍👍
Those are awesome 😎👍
I have found some beautiful pieces of Fire agate on Saddle Mountain in Arizona.
Good morning and thank you Dan!
Hey Dan, not sure what part of AZ you're in but I spent a bit of time crossing the nation, and when I was in AZ , I found a ton of that stuff.
The most beautiful ones ,to me, had burgundy so dark it was almost purple and the fire part was what I'd call orangy. You made me go pull a piece out lol 😉
Soooo... Yeah,I was around Sedona when I kept finding that stuff .
Good luck 👍
one of my favorite gemstone
in the Sacramento valley in Arizona you can find fire agate, gold and turquoise
Releasing the fire with water!
This is going to be another great video from Dan
Seeing the panoramic shots, of y'all walking around eye's down, reminds me of Me!
Anywhere our family went and where I go, I'm looking for those stand out, catch the eye specimens! The only time I look for any general type, is because that's the reason I am there!
I love That Camping couple!
Good morning from Southeast South Dakota
I love these videos! I leaen so much!
🎉🎉🎉Congratulations on finding real fire agates in the Arizona desert! Fire agates are a beautiful and rare type of chalcedony that exhibit an iridescent play of colors. They are found primarily in Mexico and the southwestern United States, making your discovery all the more special.🎉🎉🎉
Enjoyed another great video Dan. You sure have some very nice friends. TY
Always look forward to seeing your content. Keep up the good work.

Do tell I live in Lake Havasu, AZ
@@jackpotjim4040 oatman. Look for dark, burnt, areas that stretch out like fingers of lava. Between hwy 95 and oatman. Also, the hills in sitgreaves pass.
Cool! Are these fire agates also called chalcedony?
I collected a half-full bucket of these and haven’t done much with them since.
Since I don’t have a saw, I like to tumble my fire agates. Keep our agate fields a secret! 🙈✌🏼Thanks!
How did you like Arizona? It’s my home state and I love it here!
Those are amazing fire I love fire agate
Hello, here, my friend is great 👍
Dan! Thank-you for the Badge.
excelente video amigo gracias por compartir un abrazo desde Colombia
Dan,
WE don't have hardly any agates here in Ferndale/Bellingham, so
I am very JEALOUS:)
Cheers,
Rik Spector
There's some good Lace Opal further north in the western deserts of Utah. I've gone out hunting for that when I was in college!
Greetings from the BIG SKY. Can't say as I blame ya, there's a foot of snow here in Lewistown, at least, and the desert always melts all the snow.
Into is sick
Spectacular 😊
Awesome video watched from begging to end :)
been out to round mountain, you have to get to it from new Mexico.
Those are so beautiful!
Beautiful ❤️❤️
Love the Color WoW . SKK .
Your down my way (for the winter) Quesnel in the summer. On the Fraser
Hey it's my neck of the woods, next time jump over the border into NM and get some sunstones!
That was fun!
Can't wait, love your work.
I hope you do some videos on cutting and polishing them !
Glad you had fun while you were here! How'd you like the wind? It's kind of a constant here lolz.
Amazing stuff!
I love that site and the other BLM rockhounding site in far eastern Arizona. Both locations have been picked over pretty good so you have to take the "hard roads". If you want to see how to polish those to catch the fire, there is a guy here, Fire Agate Mark who does the best videos on the techniques used.
Fun hunt Dan. Kynndel sounds like the girl on Northern Mudlarks.
Awesome rock hounding
Soooo clooose to Utah! Let me know if you swing through!
Lol go home with suitcase of rocks, was out there last Nov, went home with a bag of white sage. And shipped myself a small package as well.
That one was sick
I love fire agate.. hope one day i can go pickup myself#fromMalaysia
Thanks!
Thanks!
How fun 👍
Looks a lot like an area I often go to in Southeast AZ.
Nice!
Omg 😳 I’m so jealous! Been out fire agate hunting and haven’t seen anything like those 😢! Would love a hint on where too go?
