Great questions Dave. Guzman’s cabs and material are awesome. I have never worked with Mexican Fire Opal, but I do have some small pieces of it. I’ve always felt it requires exceptional skills to chase the fire. I hope that family does/did really well at the show 👏
This stone reminds me of Larimar. The name was totally made up and its a composite type of material in that case. This seems to be similar stone. I wonder if they had it analyzed at a lab professionally? At this point its just a curiosity. I would want to know if its radioactive, poisonous or toxic to start. Its energy does seem off to the side. It almost has a stay away feel to it. That's how it feels to me. I'm getting other impressions that I'll keep private. It looks interesting like after you put cream in a latte coffee. A very interesting stone for sure.

I have some Diaspore pieces that I wouldn't want to sell if I had the means to complete other projects without having to sell them. Matter of fact that's the reason why I want to exhibit at the GJX in Tucson in January. I would much rather keep those stones in the family, but the family needs to be fed. 😂
@@lapidarydave No, I haven't, but after I asked you for tips on where to exhibit precious Gemstones, I got in touch with Nomads (Gemstone cutters in Thailand who also exhibit at GJX) and they said that's where the high-end stuff is traded. Supposedly is not open to the public.
Nice material shown. I once had a purple colored one and totally erased it on the lap. It was when I first started learning lapidary. I never forgot that lesson go slow and look more than grind. I see a few I'd like to have thanks for sharing.

Thank you so much for sharing. To cut a fire agate correctly in 15 minutes is nearly impossible. In my honest opinion, these stone could use a couple more hours of tedious work. The iron oxide (brown) is still way too thick. The iron oxide takes away from the color, at virtually angle. It also takes away from the true potential of the stone. Check out Mark Anderson's channel. Those stones are cut right. I mean no disrespect to you Dave or your friends. Love your channel. I just truly believe fire agate is misrepresented, and underpriced, due to its difficulty to carve. It deserves WAY more limelight

Unfortunately no it’s not for the lot it’s each piece it seems expensive but this material to be very expensive he has some of the best prices are there if you thought that piece for 100 and could easily be sold for $300-500 elsewhere
I think the imperial thing was started by Fire Agate Mark. I’ve never heard it before him. He’s a good friend of mine. I could ask him, but I don’t ever hear anybody mention that term when referring to this material except for him.

They are fantastic people and when it comes to Mexican fire Agate perhaps the most affordable vendor I have found in my experience at any juncture I would highly suggest buying from them if you can’t go to Tucson yourself if you find anybody with better prices for Mr. Guzman please let me know if the son of buying from him is knowing that they are the original family and they discovered it
My grandma passed away awhile ago and she was a rock hound who went to the Tucson show year after year- but Im coming across all kinds of treasures of her’s- recently found a bag of Fire Agates in her things- polished cabs that are just gorgeous- similar to that tray under the rings. Yeah it’s pretty interesting supposedly they don’t really know how the stone formed some people speculate that it was formed after a meteor collision that might’ve caused a Ice Age

Yeah it’s pretty interesting supposedly they don’t really know how the stone formed some people speculate that it was formed after a meteor collision that might’ve caused a Ice Age

I had over $2000 in my pocket and I was ready to spend it but cause I didn’t know and there’s no signs on prices were really offended so me and my little bit of stuff I just had to buy because of the people I met through you and my hunting for these people so I was prepared for Duval counties, second gym and mineral show, but my heart was brokenby 70% of the people did not want to be bothered and I went early the first day and I know it’s hard work, but I was just so heartbroken. It’s not like on my little screen in my bedroom.❤
