    I used to lobster dive in those areas before I moved to FL and was veey successful. I miss those days. The small lobster trick is new to me, great idea. I had a technique of withrawing my fingertipos from the mits, letting the lobster grab the rubber gove, then pulled him out. FL spiny lobsters are a whole different thing, no claws.

      Ha ya I haven’t seen the small lobster trick anywhere either, nor have I heard or though of using a glove for them to grab, I will have to try that!!!

    I lived in New Bedford Mass and caught from 8 to 15 lobsters in about 2 hours every Saturday and sold all but 3 to the local fish stores for weekend gas money. The way you are going about it is not very productive. It is much easier than that if you understand what the natural instincts of crabs and lobsters are.
    Take a 16 inch length of garden hose and two rolls of the non shiny electrical tape and wrap one end for about 4 inches wide at the end with a complete roll. Also wrap a single layer near the opposite end about a half inch high. That will help you so the hose doesn't slip out of your hand.
    Lobsters and crabs, once they bite, will not let go as long as you keep pulling while they have a grip so simply put the fat end of the hose near them and as soon as they reach out and grab it, pull them up and keep waving them back and forth slowly as you open your bag, then just put them in the bag and stop moving, they will immediately release their grip and fall to the bottom of your bag...now go find another one.
    This method never failed me for over 16 years so I know it works!

      Well ernie thanks for the input, i would love to hear some more info on what you think i should be doing, as well as more info on what your favorite and most productive methods were? also how long ago was this because from what ive heard many areas have declined in productivity over the past decade...?

      It is illegal to sell your lobsters on a non-commercial license. Freeze the meat or give them away. The commercial fishermen work hard and pay a lot in permits and expenses, you are stealing from them by selling your recreational catch. Give them to your friends, have a party but don't sell them.

    I see some people with what just looks like snorkel gear diving down between 5-15ft. I hear scuba diving can be expensive, my friend is interested in trying this, for discovery, is there any budget methods for casual summer diving? (I live in Nova Scotia, Canada, so would be around South Short or Northumberland Strait where water is warmer). thanks.

    • @fishingrecreation6837
      @fishingrecreation6837  3 года назад +1

      Hey, yes people can certainly casually recreationally harvest and fish in that depth as long as you you know basic dive safety well and have a good wetsuit and weight belt for cold water and you ensure all of your gear is correct, you can have a blast in plenty of places that are less than 15 ft! good luck!
