I was glad I went to welding school but man I regret the money I forked over for it. You and Ricky taught me more in 3 weeks than I learned in the 7 months of that school.
@@TaylorWelding heck now I’m running my own truck and have a small business of my own. Couldnt have done it without y’all. Keep putting the videos out. I had my wife and son watching some of the fitting videos last night before we went to bed. Great stuff 🤙🏼
Great advice to go be a welders helper, I learned some basic stick welding that way 40 years ago then self taught and still learning through RUclipsrs like yourself, thank you
Very good advice I’ve been a industrial welder for 30+ years didn’t have a clue when I started but the number one thing I had was a drive to learn and I’ll take any apprentice that has the drive and give him all I got. People can see right off who has it and who doesn’t. And never stop learning I still watch videos and try and pick different techniques
That’s what I do. Glad to know you Greg. We are going to get these young men and women Welding. Off the video games and on the Welding machine! Thanks for the comment brother it helps to algorithms.
Great! So glad to see you encourage people to learn a trade! So needed! What we don't need in the world is another "degree" in a useless career! Kids don't realize they can often make as much as a lawyer or doctor, welding! Building homes (like I do). Super excited for this channel!!
I taught welding for over 20 years and I think it's really important to have an instructor who looks at you welding and the finished product and corrects the mistakes early. Time is short and no one wants to be making the same mistakes over and over .
I started out with a Harbor Freight mig, used horse shoes and started making bubble gum welds but with practice I got 1/2 way decent. After about three years I stepped into Miller and love it. Just jump in, ask questions ,watch RUclips and melt some medal is the only way to learn.
I’m by no means a “welder”. The cert welders I have worked with on jobs, the advice they gave is exactly what you just said. To learn to weld is to weld and learn from the mistakes. Learn, learn and learn and be the first guy on the job site ready to work with your tools in your hand!
I don’t really. I used to use the hot sheet. It was a magazine you could find at truckstops etc. i’ll see if I can find where are the best jobs are listed
I was going to go to Tulsa welding school but their tuition is too expensive 30k. Instead I'm taking welding classes at my local community college for a fraction of the price.
I’m 44 and just retired from the military. My new career is as a structural welder. In three months I’ve learned a crap ton about fitting and FCAW welding. I plan on doing this for another 9 mins and then I want to transition into a job that I can learn SMAW. So you might see a 45 year old rookie trying to get into pipe-line in about 9 months… lol

Thanks bro that means a lot. Nothing like being in the field to learn.

I agree 100% Mr William. There are some major benefits to straightening the learning curve
Never went to welding school but had a older man show me and have never regarded it but learn where ever you can get in the way if you have to
Great advice. Thanks for your efforts to help people.
