Another great video, sir. Funny though...when you mentioned lead ends getting all burnt up, and cut to a video snippet, RUclips blocked it from me. Must have been spicy! :-)

Guess the only thing 1 would be iffy about tinning wire like that is the potential for wicking into the insulation. Applying a bit of the stuff I learnt from fixing wiring in electronic applications. Lack of tin as in 60/40 solder as well.... perhaps

I cant hook up direct cuz i use different accessories. Like whip for stick - LN25 and arcair - Any suggestions

It happens running a gouging torch. I lay the leads out off the reel on the ground but again it’s pushing some serious ammount of amps!!

You create an electrical coil leaving the leads rolled up

Induction. The only thing you can do is weave your leads as you roll them. Like a basket pattern. But, that’s unpractical. Best thing is like he said is to unroll the leads.

Around minute 3:30 you mentioned about learning from an older guy. I’m not sure why but for some reason I’ve always had a lot of respect for my elders and have learned tons from them. I enjoy watching this channel. Blessings, C Los ✝️🙏❤️😊💥❗️

I have to use quick connects at my connection point. I remove my leads every day and lock them up. Too many crack heads to be worrying about.

Let me just say that 1/0 copper AWG is good for 150 amperes, but like you said, the length of your lead/wire whatever, you start dealing with voltage drop, which will introduce more heat into your wire because of the resistance of the wire!
That’s a law in electricity, no matter what!
Great topic for welding! It won’t only affect your wire but also your welder! All those parts that make it produce the amperes you need to weld!

Induction coil I believe , all our field rigs had big old loop cable holders made from pipe halfs and plate and ran big cables,(yea it was a bit slower and more work but so is yanking all of the cables off) as for the J-locks every so often you would wire brush the oxidation on the male ends and used one of those copper pipe brushes on the female ends, the damn road salts get into everything around here and would rooster up your connections. stingers, clamps, and even cables seemed more like a consumable at times that needed to be replaced when used day in and day out. but money is money and the more you save the more you keep.

Definitely recommend tinting the wire or using flux. I did this on some Anderson terminals some years ago and the connection was bad because the solder didn’t flow into the wire very well.

Great content as usual👍. Question?, when sizing 1/0 cable for 300A at 100ft. My question is, does the total positive and negative combined has to be 100ft, or 100ft positive and 100ft negative?

I'm running a Lincoln Ranger 10,000 plus with about 50ft of 2.0 on the ground and about 65ft of the same on the stinger I don't have roll up reels I just wrap them around the handle on the all terrain cart the welder is bolted to should I get rid of my about 8ft of no 1 whip that I carry for both stinger and ground cables

I am 1:26 in it and I'm super happy you dropped an Ed bassmaster clip in here. Fkn golden..."would you just look at it?!" Edit: I watched the whole thing and I'm so glad you're doing these videos, they're super informative. I've never been out in the field welding (my goal) and this helps me start out - gives me some perspective. So thank you

Don't weld much anymore, but I enjoy the videos, question for y'all, my Lincoln SA 200 is producing power but it won't weld. Any ideas, I cleaned the armature with the right stone, still barely an orange spark.

Something that has happened to our Gravel pit machines (sometimes they go a couple months without use) is the stinger and/ or ground are corroded. Seems silly but it's got the best of us before. Some emery cloth or a baby wire brush and voila.

I'd suggest using flux on that wire, flux not only helps the solder flow better, it also cleans the copper wire so the solder sticks better.
Using just lead as solder is not ideal either.
A ferrule would also work if you don't have anything to solder with and all you can do is smash the terminal.
