    Bluetooth speakers already sound good enough for most people but BT microphones still sound poor/lacking even when compared to 20yo wired/USB mic. Is this expected to change anytime soon or are there already super great sounding BT mic that I'm not aware of?

    • @HeadsetAdvisor
      @HeadsetAdvisor  Год назад

      Interesting, we're not hearing the same thing. Audio is so subjective so we're not sure your expectations or what exactly you're comparing to, but most clients tell us the mic quality for their calls or meetings is plenty fine with the models in this video, and many other comparables.
      Sounds like the Modmic may be what you're looking for? ruclips.net/video/Tut1KDa_S3M/видео.html

      @@HeadsetAdvisor Do you believe, when e.g. podcasters are given a choice between a Modmic & USB/wired mic, at least some of them would choose Modmic (or whatever state-of-the-art BT mic) over wired purely on their subjective judgement?
      I'd think the vast majority of them would choose -- and are choosing -- wired mic. I can't think of many podcasters using a BT mic come to think of it. Isn't this somewhat of a proof that wired vs BT isn't purely subjective and people actually do prefer wired sound?

      @HeadsetAdvisor  Год назад

      @@deersakamoto2167 if we're strictly talking about a microphone to be used on a podcast, in most cases you aren't going to buy a headset like in this video or a Modmic, so it wouldn't be the right comparison.
      We're not experts in microphones for podcasts but typically it seems like most people in this setting use a wired condenser microphone, so it doesn't sound like you're wrong.

      >> podcast, in most cases you aren't going to buy a headset like in this video or a Modmic
      Right, and my original question was why this is the case. Is this the fundamental limitation of BT tech? Or are we eventually get to a point where we can't tell the difference between BT mic headsets and Blue Yeti's of the world during our Zoom calls? You do lots of headset reviews, wired and wireless -- where the main audio for the video primarily I assume comes from a wired mic :) -- so I thought you guys had some insight on this

      @@deersakamoto2167 it’s a great question! We don’t have a good technical answer or insight on this so we will need to get an audio engineer involved in this discussion to give an accurate answer. Let us see what we can do 🙂

    WH62 audio seemed to have better noise cancellation, but i'm not sure bec. it seemed to be less loud overall. To the other question as to why bluetooth microphones are all invariably low quality so far: during 2-way calls, a very low bandwidth bluetooth codec is used for each channel. you can notice quite easily when you take a call while listening to music -> quality drops, stereo becomes mono, and high frequencies are cut off. it's very easy to perceive in direct comparison, even for a regular user that is not an audio engineer :)

    • @HeadsetAdvisor
      @HeadsetAdvisor  Год назад

      Great insight. We agree it's very easy to perceive the audio difference in a Bluetooth headset going from Stereo to mono in the speakers when on a call. If you read the conversation with @Deer Sakamoto, do you know why this would also be the case why no Bluetooth headset microphone comes close to the richness of a condenser microphone?

    • @shittubes
      @shittubes Год назад +1

      @@HeadsetAdvisor the very low-bandwidth bluetooth audio codec for hands-free mode is so bad that the difference in the analog gear i.e. condensor or not should not be perceivable at all.

    • @HeadsetAdvisor
      @HeadsetAdvisor  Год назад

      @@shittubes I think Deer was saying from his perspective the microphone quality between a wired condenser mic is so much better then a bluetooth headset microphone like in this video. Are you saying there shouldn’t be a noticeable difference in mic quality between the two?

    • @shittubes
      @shittubes Год назад

      @@HeadsetAdvisor what i mean: i can confirm that nearly any wired mic will be much better than any bluetooth microphone that is used in two-way mode. no matter if it's of the condenser type!
      theoretically, you could connect a wired condenser mic to a bluetooth sender using a full bandwidth codec, but then you can't use two-way audio (which is probably why i have never seen this done anywhere).
      theoretically bluetooth devices could also use different better codec configurations for 2-way audio, but no product has shipped with such improvements. the default configurations for 1-way audio stereo music listening seem to have gotten better with AAC, LDAC, APT-X and other higher-bandwidth options being commonly supported. for 2-way audio (the only thing where one might commonly use a microphone) i haven't seen improvements.

    • @shittubes
      @shittubes Год назад

      To put this in numbers: Common phonecalls have set a very low standard, people plainly got used to 8khz bandwidth in purely voice conversations on almost all telephony networks. Most people can hear a difference if the phone happens to support HD-voice (16khz) for calls to another subscriber on the same provider: for example "s" and "f" suddenly sound noticably different. Most would consider this nearly perfect. And yet, if music was played through such a 16khz channel, people would still notice that it sounds worse than CD quality (44khz). Some instruments with high frequencies like cymbals would sound off otherwise.
      With bluetooth in hands-free mode (2-way audio) I have not seen anything better than 16khz (not even sure it reaches above 8khz in common setups).
      A wired headset is not digitally limited to 8 or 16khz.

    Does the portable WH62 DECT use DECT when using the UC dongle or is it bluetooth? If DECT, do you have any knowledge if it works as well as using one with the DECT base? Better than using bluetooth also?

    • @HeadsetAdvisor
      @HeadsetAdvisor  Год назад

      The WH62 UC uses DECT with the UC Dongle, and it works as well as the WH62 with the DECT base aside from you get less wireless range (about 300ft vs 500ft). Better than using Bluetooth in regards to wireless range, yes. It all depends on your specific needs if Bluetooth vs DECT is the best way to go.

    Hello. Is there any alternative to Logitech H800? I mean an over-ear headset with BT and proprietary wireless USB dongle that behaves like a normal audio device in windows. Usual BT-only headsets have troubles switching between BT profiles (Stereo/Handsfree).

      Not sure about any direct alternative sto the H800 but the BH72 or BH76 in this video would be comparable.
