"Bob" is actually that one rebel from Swelter mod. The one that was talking about him being war veteran and wanting to relocate to some out of city lookout post. Devs said it on podcast, when they were discussing the tie-ins within swelter, evacuation, snowdrop escape and some other mod.
Does that mean Snowdrop, Swelter and Evacuation all take place in the same continuity even though Evac is made by a different group? Cause if so, then it's great that both dev teams are collaborating for this kind of world building since other mod devs like We Create Stuff and MxTHE did that with Underhell and Nightmare House 2 in the past.

Evacuation is short, but it's absolutely slept on. It's really well-made. The gunplay is taken straight from Snowdrop Escape and MMod but I feel like it fits this style of mod a bit better than a mod like SDE.
There is probably going to be a patch for the dialogue that will make it more compatible with windows updates. Although I did like how this mod included the whole concept of bandits and raiders as enemy types since not every human faction would want to work with the Resistance since there are some that would prefer to survive for their own reasons.
I dunno... in a setting as apocalyptic to humanity as Half Life 2 I find the notion of raiders who are hostile against the rebels a bit farfetched. If raiders could even exist I'd imagine they'd have more of an enemy of my enemy is my friend relationship and only stab them in the back once the Combine are gone.

Humans have been fighting amongst themselves over the smallest of things since Humanity learned how to walk upright back when we were still apes that eventually became Cromagnen and Neanderthals that would evolve into what you see today. And if the human race in the Half-Life/Portal universe is anything like ours then it's obvious that not everyone has the same goals of liberating the planet in mind. There would always be someone that would think "hey, why should I help these guys wearing the lambda logo when I could just do as I want?" and chances are there would be others who will have a similar agenda as well.
Something that convinced me that it plays in the same universe as Snowdrop Escape and Swelter is that we get the M1 rebel as an "easter egg/reference" in Swelter.
I appreciate coverage of half life mods, especially the lesser known ones. I hadn't even realized it was lesser known, mainly because I'm constantly wanting more half life mods to come out and am constantly searching for them.
For the one who want to play this mod, in the community section of the mod someone made a patch for the dialogue Check it out because the dialogue fix a lot of confusion with the gameplay since you are talking with a guy on the radio
Hey rad i wanted to share my theory why hl3 wasnt relased They cant push the lore forwoard becuse there isint a realistic way for Gordon to fight off combine They lost on earth... so combine will now use the same or more power that they did in 7 hour war. The blasts that coud anihilate whole place in a moment. Gordon and renesance won becuse most combine forces arent here becuse there where 20 years and only keepers are here. There is no way for Gordon to fight off gigant spacebeam with... crowbar
I really like the idea of the raiders. Realistically, I don’t think the entirety of humanity could collectively ally with each other against the combine
Mann idk where you find these mods all the time but am I glad you do. Guess it's time to suit up again, or not, and take it to the combine (+non affiliated third party factions!) where it hurts!
I really enjoyed this mod when I played it. I have wanted a mod where you just play as a normal rebel or civilian without any to the story of Half-Life and Half-Life 2 for quite a while and this was a good mod for that and it just looked really good. Also, yeah, the big area with the two cable boxes took me a decent chunk of time to realise I was not meant to do anything yet.
Evacuation really takes the best out of MMOd mechanics and fits them into their own little world, i love to replay this mod by how short and optimized it is. I would love some DLC or mod of the mod. BTW Rad, i think you should check out a hl2 mod called "Southernmost Combine", it's an alternate hl2 story set in, Rural Argentina, it came out in 2021 and kinda went over the radar, it has some nice mapping, a really nice athmosphere, and a really nice attention to detail when it comes to dialogue, it even has a damn recreation of teh Mr Pink scene from Pulp fiction
all these half-life mods and I don't think I've seen one that adds new faces to the citizens, it's always retextures of varying quality. it's odd when there are these HD models with this old 2004 faces.
When I played half life 2, I was always offput by the stupid writing of the rebels. There is no way humanity would ever unite like that, there will always be people who are only looking for a way to fulfill their personal interests. The raiders in this mod did a great job at fixing that problem
To be fair, in HL2, the entirety of the game takes place relatively not that far from City 17 and are also between City 17 and Nova Prospekt, which the Combine would probably be on their ass constantly so the other little groups in the Coasts probably wouldn't attack each other for the sole purpose of the Combine being right there next to them. The next half of HL2 is also in City 17 where the rebels kinda have to help each other get out alive or "Storm the Citadel." Ep2 is kinda different but you're placed in a spot also relatively close to White Forest Base and that's a whole base of it's own. Have a good day.

Although you clearly don't get that not everyone would want to unify if aliens were to attack resulting in an apocalyptic aftermath. Some people will want to survive for their own reasons, with many to likely take an anarchist approach with how they'd go about scavenging for supplies. Survival of the fittest.
Can you talk or give your review about a forgotten, difficult to get it running, but otherwise great and well made, acted, and designed mod called "1187" that's taking place before the combine invasion but that the portal storms are pretty common, and its taking place in The Netherlands.

my biggest gripe with this mod was all the hand holding with the puzzles and etc. It's one thing to give subtle hints but it's another to have arrows everywhere (and still somehow make it confusing)
The mod has no place on steam though it's short not even an hour long... The guns are just from MMmod which I support I prefer MM over vanilla but the axe is just poor animations and ripped from l4d same with the AK which has a ton of issues it pulls it's own charging handle and ADS sucks hip fire is more accurate. The voice acting I appreciated alot of people say it's bad but I didn't mind it, it seemed like at least the actors were having fun with it except for the main character his actor was horrible. The mod also has moments where I had no clue what to do next and needed to watch a guide because it made no sense what I had to do going forward and I accidentally soft locked myself at the place where you need to get gas because I threw away the needed can and it glitched away. Also the needing to like kill some rocket dude wasn't even possible for awhile and they had to bug fix it and then I still kinda didn't know what to do but then it worked. This mod is cool but DOES NOT deserve a place on the steam store when Underhell and Paranoia aren't

The lack of dialogue spared you, but the sniper section is particularly annoying because you won't even have time to open the ammo box before "Bob" radios you to tell you how to solve the puzzle like a god of war 2 character, it just takes a few seconds for that to trigger. And then a few seconds later the game gets oddly pissy and petty about you not having done it yet. Good mod, but needs to have more (any) respect for the player's ability to put things together.

8:55 the most probable explanation to this is that the game uses MMod weapons and weapon handling, so that's why it may come as weird

The vegetation looks very detailed. I guess that's why it's underrated. People playing HL2 mods expect urban settings with lots of gameplay around it.
