    Most won’t rely on the superchargers for their daily routine charging. They are meant for long distance travel. That’s why are placed off highway exits. People that buy a plaid model x will install a charger in their garage.

    • @yt310yt
      @yt310yt Год назад +3

      Agreed. I have a Tesla and charging is a non-issue with a level 2 charger at home. When on road trips, Superchargers are strategically placed along the route and you usually don't need to charge to 100%. You just need to top up a certain amount (e.g. +25%) to get you to your final destination.

    • @Deetroiter
      @Deetroiter Год назад

      At least for the Bay Area, there's a lot of people who rely on superchargers. A large amount of people live in condos or apartments that are all street parking, no where to charge. It's unfortunate because the chargers are ALWAYS clogged at many locations. On my Model 3, I usually just use the CCS adapter now but even that's not working out so well any more. The Electrify America, etc chargers are always taken since there's many new non-tesla EV's on the road. The charging infrastructure is really starting to show it's weaknesses

      a 10-80% charge should take about 20 min and give you more than 200mi of range to get to the next supercharger. thats usually how I calculate routes. divide total trip mileage by 200 and multiply that number by 20. thats how many min you will be charging for the entire trip.

    • @yashuh

      I’ve charged to 100% for the past 6 years. It has 180,000 miles and range went from 256 miles to 190 over the years. Only reason I neglected battery was because Tesla honors a unlimited mile battery swap before up to the 8th year of ownership. No longer the case on the newer cars unfortunately. Nor is free supercharging :(

    • @executiveinvestments

      @@noway6238 yeah because that’s how someone should drive, charge enough to get to the next supercharger. So convenient. I don’t put gas in my car to just make it to the next gas station. Pretty sweet X3 Plaid I must say. Looks unreal blacked out with that combo. I'd be charing 99.9% of the time in my own garage and just need to plan ahead a little on road trips. Charging stations are located near restaurants, malls and coffee shops so you get other things done while you charge. You don't sit there and stare at the charger like we do with the gas pumps. Just a change of habits I suppose. I remember when I had a diesel car and when travelling it was often really hard to find diesel in some towns had a few close calls. That doesn't really happen with modern day EV's that have these crazy digital maps and GPS systems built-in with all the charging stations and details mapped out. Currently drive the F150 Powerboost hybrid but I'll make the switch here eventually....probably in the next 3-5 years once more choices and availability are out there and it doesn't take 1-2 years to receive the ordered vehicle although Tesla is one company you can probably get vehicles much faster currently than the rest of the companies out there because they control much of their own supply chain....which is smart. Anyway, enjoyed the video and liked that you changed it up.

    Only issue that really bugs me with the design of the rear door of that SUV is after opening the doors during rain is you get water dripping on you after you close the rear door for a short time.

    Did you weigh it fully charged? Is there a weight difference if its charged or not?
    Ps: Im sure the motors help with the braking too, maybee thats why they dont need bigger brakes? Its still alot of weight thats comming to a stop so bigger brakes might not do anything, the tyres just have that amount of friction.

      no its not like gas. your phone doesn't get heavier and lighter when you charge it. its just electrons. I mean technically it does get "heavier" but you wouldn't be able to measure it in any meaningful way so its pretty much negligible. regen with the motors definitely helps with braking a lot too

    Well speaking of charging times i don’t see my self on a long road trip having to sit for 1hr each 300miles to do a recharge i dont think that most people are ready to move into EV because the Charging Infrastructure is not there yet its getting there slowly but not there yet the acceleration is cool and all but is just the same like in a gas car you floor it and start seeing the gas gauge go down the same happens in a Tesla but for a short drive is the perfect EV car for somebody who doesn’t drive 200 miles is good but for me having to commute 2hr drive to get to work it doesn’t work

    I’ll be in on electric cars when 2 things happen. Infrastructure for charging is scaled and when a battery comes out that doesn’t require huge lithium mines. Until then, it’s a cool option but not sustainable for everyone.

    • @adilongaify
      @adilongaify Год назад +2

      If you can't charge at home, at work, or where you park your electric car daily it make sense to think that an electric car is not for you. Otherwise an electric car will not be a problem it will even be more convenient in daily to not have to go at a fuel station. For long trip the Tesla supercharger network will give you the ability to travel everywhere pretty much easily.
      Regarding your second argument, yes extract a tons of lithium is bad. But extract petrol is not good too.

      Howewer it's normal that the infrastructure is not ready for everyone use. A transition will take decades maybe 2 or 3 until the very large majority of people will have an electric car in US.
