@@giraldiro verissimo. Ma io ho solo detto che, per puro talento e classe innata, dopo Maradona trovo difficile trovarne altri a parte Ronaldo (il Fenomeno), Baggio, Van Basten e Cruijff. E in questo caso non tengo ovviamente affatto in considerazione lo "stile di gioco", e i vari successi avuti eventualmente in carriera

its sad that this guy is all but forgotten outside of Italy.. does not get the credit he deserves.. one of the greatest ever.
From 1996 to 2004, Italy has been using the tactics that best suit Baggio but not using Baggio. Compared with Totti and Piero, Baggio's calmness and imagination in front of the goal and his ability to withstand pressure in big competitions make him unique.
Note: in WC final94 he was injured, after a stressing tournament, played at harsh sunny weather from 12 to 14 with 90%humidity and 30°C average, all players (especially italians) were cooked (have u seen the opportunity Romario missed that day?!? Alone at 1mt from goal without the keeper..and he missed the goal...). Plus, few people remember or even know, the WC ball was a brand new model, much lighter and players never had the opportunity to get familiar with it before the tournament (usa94 was awfully organised!). Sum up all this and you may get why he missed the pk (after 120mins game under a baking sun that roasted the brains of all, including supporters).
Note2: no-one EVER saw the 100% Baggio, 'cause at 18yo he suffered a massive injury that left him crippled at 1leg (it became shorter than the other and constantly painstaking as a result). So the best Baggio we ever seaw was 80\85%. Imagine hadn't he had that fatal injury...as someone once said: he did what Maradona did with 1&1/2 leg. Ah, and regarding that pk: many brazilians still say it was Ayrton Senna that took it high 🌤️🙂😔

Talent recognises and appreciates talent. Le Tissier was a great player, so naturally gifted. As with Baggio, he should have got a lot more caps for his country - Baggio played less than 60 times for Italy, and many of those were as a substitute; madness. In a sane and just World, Baggio would have played over 100 games for his country, and had he done so, he would have been way out in front as Italy's all-time goalscorer, and an even greater legend than he is.
Attenzione! Gigi Riva ha segnato 35 reti in 42 partite (diverse non intere) ..... E se Baggio ha subito infortuni al ginocchio, Riva ha subito 2 fratture alle gambe giocando con la nazionale ( a 22 e a meno 26 anni), ed erano tempi in cui chi subiva una frattura smetteva di giocare. Altrimenti altro che tre titoli di capocannoniere avrebbe vinti! L'ho visto giocare da bambino (inizio ottobre (? ) del 1970, in amichevole contro il Benfica di Eusebio, Simoes ecc.) qualche mese prima della 2a frattura, (poi in un'altra occasione nel 1972 o 1973) e quando gli passavano il pallone sentivo io e lo sentiva tutto il pubblico dello stadio, impazziti urlanti in piedi, che era immarcabile incontenibile, un altro livello rispetto agli altri giocatori , un trascinatore della squadra e e degli spettatori. Emozioni indescrivibili e ancora vive. Dopo la seconda frattura, giocò un paio d'anni da campione ma non più da fuoriclasse, con una gamba più corta dell'altra. Andò ai mondiali in Germania non ben guarito da uno strappo ad una coscia e praticamente li finì la sua carriera, a 29 anni: poi giocò pochissime partite.
Baggio tecnicamente e come fantasia, secondo me, era inferiore solo a Maradona, e pari a Pelè (che però era ben superiore atleticamente) ma era troppo "buono" di carattere, gli mancava la "prepotenza" di Platini o di Crujff o di Messi, altrimenti non ci sarebbero stati dubbi che era come minimo al loro livello.
Riva va considerato con gli attaccanti puri, come Gerd Muller e Van Basten.
