Baggio mastered every single form of passing. No look, reverse, one two, short, long, first touch pass etc. Great crosser as well. Just imagine if he had played in ajax and Barcelona? These passing and vision in a possession based system. Yet, he delivered all this in a defensive system. Got nothing but high praise for this maestro.
Sou brasileiro. Totalmente de acordo amigo. Elogios são poucos para este prodígio humano. Unfortunately the man was plagued by injuries (though it did not stop him), however playing with Barcelona would not have given him his ideal position to play from and with Ajax, I don’t believe they had a need for him at the time. But yeah I totally agree that he’d have been insane at Ajax.
I'm not sure any player so frequently and consistently has shown quality and versatility like Baggio did. He mastered EVERY aspect of offensive football.
I had the privilege to watch this guy play for Brescia at the end of his career. He would run less than 2k per game but man, could he touch that ball. He scored many fine goals and delivered as many assists to his teammates. There is one goal that stuck with me, against Parma in his last season (200th Serie A goal). Receives the ball just outside of the box, sits down three defenders fainting a move, and puts the ball at the back of the net with his left foot. As cliche as it sounds, football just doesn’t produce this kind of genius anymore.
Share the same sentiment. It's a real shame people remember him for that penalty .shame how cappello and lippi treated him as a player. It's simply astonishing that a player can score over 200 league goals despite being "injury prone" imagine if he wasn't benched as often at Milan and inter. How much more could he have had
1:13 I will never forget this assist for Christian Vieri at the World Cup 98. Very very brilliant (PS: pay attention to the fact that Baggio directs the ball to Vieri's left foot, because Vieri is left-handed! Genius)
Exactly ! And he has to open his body to play that volley pass first time on a way that is unusual. Ball coming from the right, plays it with his right and places it on Vieri’s left. Absolute genius !

Oh My God! Many of these passings are just awesome. A genius of the football. You can appreciate his huge greatness as a player even more than just watching his wonderful goals.
Thank you so much for making this compilation, I was waiting for someone to do that!!! Baggio was definitely an underrated passer, playmaker, and assist provider, because his dribbling skills, technique, free kicks, and goalscoring were so good, but he was still a trequartista at heart, with fantastic vision, crossing, awareness, movement, and creativity, and he also provided a lot of assists throughout his career, so he was world class in that regard as well!
@@alqasem5691 Thank you! It's a great compilation! All of the main ones are there! I had trouble finding it, but there's also an amazing outside of the boot trivela cross assist he made with Juve after a dribbling run on the flank...I think it was maybe against Cagliari or Genoa? That's also one of my favourites! I also like the feint/back-heel assist in the 1993 UEFA Cup final against Borussia (even though a defender deflected it) and in the 1994 UEFA Cup quarter-finals against Cagliari as well! And there were some other nice ones with Brescia against Reggina, Lazio, and Atalanta I think. I also rememeber a really cool free kick assist he made for Julio Cesar which he took quickly and saw that the defence wasn't paying attention to him, and a nice one against Lazio for Ravanelli in the 1995 Coppa Italia, and for Möller against Milan in 1993. Someone had made a compilation of some of his Juve assists but I think it might have been taken down. And there was also a more generic one from a cross after a corner in the 1998 World Cup for Di Biagio against Cameroon, and a nice one for Inzaghi after a solo run against Austria who couldn't quite finish from a tight angle (also the combination with Moriero and Inzaghi on his goal was great even though it was the easiest of finishes). There were also some good ones in World Cup qualifying in the run-up to the 1994 World Cup, like in the match against Scotland, and a nice one for Vieri in Euro 2000 qualifying, and on his international debut he also set-up Vialli as well I remember! He also had an incorrectly disallowed incredible assist for Berti in the final minutes of the bronze medal match against England, and his run and pass led to Schillaci's penalty in that game. And one of my favourites is one he made for Vialli while at Juve after a dribbling run with a cross who hit the cross-bar with a bicycle kick! This was an underrated aspect of his game; he wasn't quite as good a passer or playmaker as some number 10s, as he was one of the best dribblers of all time and more a goalscorer than others, in addition to being a creator, but he was still certainly a world-class playmaker and passer!
@@jackpuccini3143 you’re absolutely right there is so many great passes he make, it’s not only the accuracy of the pass, but the vision, how he read the pitch and the defense position and his team mates, like he is playing chess or trying to solve a puzzle like the first assist of this compilation to scillaci, brilliant.!!!
