She used Adobe Animate iirc, and animate’s one of the programs that have a “camera” in them, making it easy to make camera shakes, zooms, and panning. The focus changes were done using tweens, I think. Which means it’s just modifying the opacity of the line. Both use graphs to control how it looks which means you don’t need to draw it over and over, just modify the lines on the graph. The really impressing thing is the scene in Techno’s armoury, she manually animated the characters so that it looked like the camera was going in a curved line around them. Plus, she lip synched them WHILE they were turning

I know this isn’t completely related but Ranboo’s acting is amazing The only problem is that if he wants to react to it he ether has to watch some of the highlight videos which is fine but it’s not the same as actually watching one of there videos/ streams. He could also watch animations about these events but I rather have him react to the original Minecraft footage first. I was also about to say something about Ranboo! I don't watch that many people in the dream SMP, but I have been catching up on Ranboo from the streams he did about a week ago now. And it is so good! The acting, how he manages to stay in charachter for the entire time! And just the utter pain when watching it. But catching up would be so hard to do, I have spend so many hours already watching, and I am still like 3 streams behind. It is definatley worth it, but I am so afraid that it is not going to be do-able for YoBGS, because he is also checking out more people and stuff.

I don't consider the Dream SMP a coming of age story for Tommy. To me it seems more like a child (or multiple, including Tubbo, kind of Ranboo and possibly Fundy) being shoved into the world of adults and war. They were forced to grow up too quickly and are left traumatised and often in worse states than they started. You could say 'coming of age' in that Tommy has matured into a different person but I would say he's gone through hardship with no tangible reward. Personally I would say the story is more of a 'people adapting to their situation in an attempt to be happy' sort of ordeal, with things like Tommy sacrificing his disks for L'Manburg's freedom, *_(Mild Spoilers for the Aftermath of Doomsday)_* Ranboo breaking away from 'sides' to be more happy with the people he cares about *_(Spoiler End)_* and the twisted sort of way Tubbo tries to make New L'Manburg a place of peace. Idk, I don't know how to categorise stories so some if this may not make sense.

I can't wait for the badlands to be super important in the main story since they've been there in the background saying they want chaos for so long I hope that comes to fruition. Like currently in the story there's sort of not much going on so maybe they can jump in at some point
I really wish we got more Badlands content.. They immediately got kind of broken up by the Egg plot (which I also love but there were some missed opportunities w the Badlands imo)
@@YoBGS Alas, their only real relevance as a group so far has been in the Manburg/Pogtopia War where they fought alongside Dream and Techno to defend the withers. They've kinda been split up over the egg, and sat out the doomsday war.

Since you're watching the animatics, I would love to see if you could react to some of the songs people have composed as well. I've got a few suggestions to begin with: Ode to L'Manburg by beetlebug Tubbo's song by Precious Jewel Armour Marionettes (Dream's theme) and Violence (Technoblade's theme) both by Kanaya There are others but this is just a few of my favourites.

arc ii by onyx is another really good animatic with very interesting and unique character designs that you can also watch at this point!! also bellum by torrente is a good one. kanaya is a creator who makes theme songs for various smp members who is incredibly talented xx 2:26 - this is eret wearing the bi flag as a cape :) 4:00 - tommy was considered the ‘main character’ of the smp by everyone for a long time. although i personally only watched techno’s perspective, i definitely think this could be a coming of age story for him. now, i think ranboo is a very strong contender for a main character also, which you’ll see as you catch up to where we’re at currently. this animatic specifically covers wilbur’s life in the smp. 4:49 - techno’s character design here is largely based on him being ‘justice’, which i thought was a very interesting take. 19:37 - i don’t think you’ve actually seen much of the badlands, which include (from left to right) awesamdude, antfrost, badboyhalo and skeppy. they are generally neutral and currently have lore going on that’s quite separate from the main storyline. sam, however, is said to actually be getting a bigger role in the main lore tomorrow (the 16th, as is the trend for big events lol) which i’m v excited for - he’s one of my favourites from the server and who i’d actually class as one of the most powerful and skilled players (with dream and techno being the only other big contenders), which you’ll see about later on since i don’t want to spoil what exactly his role is (he is a redstoner though, to give some context - i just won’t say exactly what he’s done/has that makes him such a threat). 22:10 - i know you said in your reaction that you couldn’t hear dream as l’manberg was being blown up but you can actually hear him scream this in the background, which i’m glad sad-ist included.

You should react to the Editor Wilbur Soot ARG on Jacksucksatlife’s channel. This short series introduced Wilbur to the Minecraft RUclips community and is as entertaining as it is weird. I think you would like it.
The way Late August got that effect, was because they made a rough draft with paper and pencil, drew a sketch digitally and painted over that sketch and added details + background + editing. The almost lineless art is so pretty

They wanted drama, they wanted content, they wanted to push the lore of their simple SMP to the forefront and I think it's for the best. They helped each other's channels grow, entertained the viewers and imo most importantly gave artists content to make and thrive on. I wouldn't have known any of them if all this didn't happen
My favourite quote from Phil after he kills Wilbur is "You couldn't just win, you had to throw your toys out the pram." I think it's very underrated, comparing Wilbur's actions to that of a toddler throwing a tantrum. That to him L'manburg was just a plaything to occupy himself, and when it was taken away he just threw away everything else, and disregarded the country itself in a stubborn fit of rage.
I really like your feedback...but my ONLY constructive suggestion: maybe watch Sad-ist’s videos 1 time through, without pausing so much...?...bc the whole thing is an experience. I mean, still react with how it makes you feel as you watch. Then, go back through a second time, and pause it where you have questions, inclinations, and points. Just a suggestion. Because, her work is SO good, you need to feel that impact the first time through. Her videos are what got me to even watch the Dream SMP.

Some important information regarding badboyhalo and his group (especially considering recent event) After the festival, Bad made the faction of the "Badlands". The citizens are Bad himself, Skeppy, Awesamdude, and Antfrost, who you see at 19:32 There goal is to keep the conflict going so that they will be weaker to claim the territory themselves. Where you are now, they are a minor faction. But they become more important later on, and it's important for you to watch a couple of Bad's streams I think.
Coming up soon is the exile arc, and the problem is a lot of it hasn’t been made into videos, like Ranboos intense mental issues or Technoblades retirement arc. For the reaction video you should view the lore videos on Tommyoutit leading up to “I got exiled” on Tommyinnit. Then you can do the actual exile as a separate video
I want to say just a few things: 1St innocence is in a pretty cool art style called "lineless art" it makes the art a lot softer and it's not something you see everyday. About the Sad-ist animation - For the story Eret was given a choice to ider sit on his throne and do nothing or go and help pogtopia and never be a King again and Eret chose friendship over Kingship. Also Tubbo is drawn with scars and bandages as a result of Techno "killing" him on the Red festival. On the part where Will presses the button Phil shields him from the explosion with his body and wings and on the next shot you can see how one of Phil's wings is damaged indicating he will never fly again. A scar that will remind him everyday about the moment of him killing his son. Also on stream day when Techno showed the Vault, Tubbo stole 2 stacks of emerald blocks and you can see in the animation how Tubbo is running with the emeralds. One more funny detail is on the declaration of independence, you can see where Will wrote "YOOO SUCK IT GREEN BOOOOY" And as a final thing I'd like to point out how Techno sais "Don't you see history repeating itself?" And then Will said the line "It was never ment to be!". Indicating there will always be war, there will always be a traitor and L'manberg will always be in ruins (repeating as in the first ark Dream blew it up and now Will.................)
Also, small criticism... if it can even be called like that: Some credit's have little things at them. Or sometimes you possibly pause *right before* the last line. So, be aware of that :D
You should react to "epic 3", "wilbur come down" and "seventeen", those 3 animatics are very emocional and have some creative ideas about the characters of the dream smp

Fun fact about sadist animations, she keeps everything consistent, during her dream v techno animatic technos hair gets cut off and dream gets a face scar, as the videos have progressed technos hair has slowly been growing longer and dream still has the scar
Now you've finished the first season you should react to Kanaya's album called November 16th which has themes for Dream, Niki, Tubbo, Tommy, Wilbur, Techno, Fundy and Phil
I'm pretty sure it's a clock in the background of nameless' animatic but it you read it as a button it's almost like the button is calling to Wilbur and egging him on to press it.
After this, there is a lot of important events that happen on the server that gets cut out in videos due to time. Because of this I would recommend watching some of the stream vods instead. The most important people to watch would be Tommy, Techno, Tubbo and a new character Ranboo.
Okay so now your gonna need to start relying on the clips channels as most of the content now are mostly in streams. Wilbur and tommy are the people who usually upload the SMP content but since Wilbur's is dead and its just Ghoustbur (dead Wilbur who appears on other's streams) and tommy doesn't upload as much SMP content, cause he wants most of his viewers to just watch the streams (which we do now, and im sure there are other reasons as well), the quick summed up events that happen aren't there any more. I recommend that you get like a mod or specific people to organize which stream clips you should watch and not ask your whole discord. That's just not reliable. I hope you get into the other characters more now cause they are VERY important to main plot right now (Philza, Fundy, Ranboo, Niki, Technoblade, etc.). Well good luck... ~Melz Rants
I know people are so used to saying "animatic" for SADist, but it is a full animation. The sliding cuts of just pictures are just pictures. But the motion is animated frame for frame instead of like 1 frame every 1-5 seconds like an animatic is.

I totally agree that these animators do such a great job of bringing our imaginations to life. They are definitely a huge part of what makes Dream SMP so special. If you are looking for some more great animatics that won't spoil anything I would recommend "If the Dream SMP had an Anime Opening," and "Smokey Eyes." Both are really good.

my favorite part of Sadist's animatic here is Tubbo in Techno's vault. When he was there he stole like a 1/2 stack of emerald BLOCKS from techno, and Sadist put that in. You can see him running past Niki with the sword with his arms stuffed with gems while having the happiest smile of all time. Also the fact that the Declaration in the beginning before tommy's face pops up says "SUCK IT GREEEN BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOY!" is hilarious.
I am SO excited to see you react to the next arc. wilbur takes a break from writing, so you get to see a new style from the new writerS (dream, tommy, and quackity. technos writing his own arc as well). I love all the arcs, but this one gets me.
i love watching the lore streams live because someone will say a really good line and you can just immediately tell that it’s going to be epic in the animatics lol
already 2 minutes into your video and i love your reactions! most people who react to animatics don't really say much or talk about the detail (this definitely isn't for every reactor), you do a lot of in-depth talking on the animatics that, myself (seeing these animatics tons of times) didn't even see/think about! i've subbed! :)
When I watch the streams, I usually have it on in the background while doing various chores or while working, so when I watch it I'm always inserting images the same way I would while reading a book. HOWEVER, those images have become very inspired by the amazing animators.
As a fellow artist It always looks like a movie to me, even just watching the actual VODs, I can see all the scenes animated in my head as they happen. sometimes I even like to act out the characters lines as they come to really get a feel for the tension, dream will always be my favourite to act out.
5:24 you mentioning DDLC made me kinda tear up. That is still one of the best games I've ever played and I actually never stopped playing it. I've been visiting Monika in the spaceroom for almost 2 years now.
Towards the end of Dawn of 16th, there's a bunch of very brief frames, one of which is a shot of the three newcomers of season 2! That's kind of a tradition in Sad-ist animatics, showing a few frames at the end featuring upcoming characters or events. I know that seeing Ranboo in even a single frame was enough to send my group chat into a frenzy- he's very important in season 2, and became a lot of people's favorite (including mine) very quickly! I'd also like to recommend watching the Chaos animatic by Toktopus, I think it's one of the best November 16th animatics out there (along with these three)!
'Never Meant to Be' was what got me into the SMP; I hadn't known it was like minecraft d&d until then, I'd thought it was just a normal survival multiplayer. I've been down the rabbit hole ever since, and my only regret is that I didn't find out sooner, bc I'd been subscribed to Wilbur for a while and could have watched the downfall of L'Manburg in real time, but missed my chance. My favorite POV's I'm following are Ranboo, Phil, Techno, Ghostbur, and Tubbo

For the Innocence animatic, it is less of a coming of age story for tommy and more of a story of Wilbur’s life on the amp. It starts with him entering for the first time and ends with his death
Responding to your question about whether this is a coming of age story for Tommy: The Dream SMP character development is a little closer to life than most stories in that it is cyclical rather than linear. Characters have moments where they develop, but then slide back on that development before growing again. It is imperfect, like life. Tommy certainly grows, but at some points it is more obvious than others, which makes it difficult to tell whether it is truly a coming of age story.
Also, you will want to come back to these comments after you catch up to the events of 1/6/21 because even though they aren’t exactly spoilers, they will make more sense in context. You can probably already see that the answers to your question are a bit divided, which will make more sense when you catch up.

so with all these moments i dont see them as animatics but as ideas- I do a little audio mixing and animating and these streams that people use are amazing, and i can see those and say "that's gonna make a good animatic" or see an event and imagine ways it would look with more expressive characters, but that always changes while youre animating.
My two favourite few seconds of SAD-ists animatic was 1) the dust motes when Eret gets dethroned 17:00 and 2) Tubbo running across the camera with armfuls of emeralds. 18:50 (If you saw it when it happened, techno noticed that someone had removed stacks of emeralds from the chests!)

4:00 - tommy was considered the ‘main character’ of the smp by everyone for a long time. although i personally only watched techno’s perspective, i definitely think this could be a coming of age story for him. now, i think ranboo is a very strong contender for a main character also, which you’ll see as you catch up to where we’re at currently. this animatic specifically covers wilbur’s life in the smp.
4:49 - techno’s character design here is largely based on him being ‘justice’, which i thought was a very interesting take.
19:37 - i don’t think you’ve actually seen much of the badlands, which include (from left to right) awesamdude, antfrost, badboyhalo and skeppy. they are generally neutral and currently have lore going on that’s quite separate from the main storyline. sam, however, is said to actually be getting a bigger role in the main lore tomorrow (the 16th, as is the trend for big events lol) which i’m v excited for - he’s one of my favourites from the server and who i’d actually class as one of the most powerful and skilled players (with dream and techno being the only other big contenders), which you’ll see about later on since i don’t want to spoil what exactly his role is (he is a redstoner though, to give some context - i just won’t say exactly what he’s done/has that makes him such a threat).
22:10 - i know you said in your reaction that you couldn’t hear dream as l’manberg was being blown up but you can actually hear him scream this in the background, which i’m glad sad-ist included.

The way Late August got that effect, was because they made a rough draft with paper and pencil, drew a sketch digitally and painted over that sketch and added details + background + editing. The almost lineless art is so pretty

They wanted drama, they wanted content, they wanted to push the lore of their simple SMP to the forefront and I think it's for the best. They helped each other's channels grow, entertained the viewers and imo most importantly gave artists content to make and thrive on. I wouldn't have known any of them if all this didn't happen

My favourite quote from Phil after he kills Wilbur is "You couldn't just win, you had to throw your toys out the pram." I think it's very underrated, comparing Wilbur's actions to that of a toddler throwing a tantrum. That to him L'manburg was just a plaything to occupy himself, and when it was taken away he just threw away everything else, and disregarded the country itself in a stubborn fit of rage.
I really like your feedback...but my ONLY constructive suggestion: maybe watch Sad-ist’s videos 1 time through, without pausing so much...?...bc the whole thing is an experience. I mean, still react with how it makes you feel as you watch. Then, go back through a second time, and pause it where you have questions, inclinations, and points. Just a suggestion. Because, her work is SO good, you need to feel that impact the first time through. Her videos are what got me to even watch the Dream SMP.
Agree! These animatics are so worth to be experienced and appreciated as a whole before being analyzed. Plus, the pausing sometimes cuts off great lines...

Some important information regarding badboyhalo and his group (especially considering recent event)
After the festival, Bad made the faction of the "Badlands". The citizens are Bad himself, Skeppy, Awesamdude, and Antfrost, who you see at 19:32
There goal is to keep the conflict going so that they will be weaker to claim the territory themselves. Where you are now, they are a minor faction. But they become more important later on, and it's important for you to watch a couple of Bad's streams I think.

Coming up soon is the exile arc, and the problem is a lot of it hasn’t been made into videos, like Ranboos intense mental issues or Technoblades retirement arc. For the reaction video you should view the lore videos on Tommyoutit leading up to “I got exiled” on Tommyinnit. Then you can do the actual exile as a separate video
I want to say just a few things:
1St innocence is in a pretty cool art style called "lineless art" it makes the art a lot softer and it's not something you see everyday.
About the Sad-ist animation -
For the story Eret was given a choice to ider sit on his throne and do nothing or go and help pogtopia and never be a King again and Eret chose friendship over Kingship.
Also Tubbo is drawn with scars and bandages as a result of Techno "killing" him on the Red festival.
On the part where Will presses the button Phil shields him from the explosion with his body and wings and on the next shot you can see how one of Phil's wings is damaged indicating he will never fly again. A scar that will remind him everyday about the moment of him killing his son.
Also on stream day when Techno showed the Vault, Tubbo stole 2 stacks of emerald blocks and you can see in the animation how Tubbo is running with the emeralds.
One more funny detail is on the declaration of independence, you can see where Will wrote "YOOO SUCK IT GREEN BOOOOY"
And as a final thing I'd like to point out how Techno sais "Don't you see history repeating itself?" And then Will said the line "It was never ment to be!". Indicating there will always be war, there will always be a traitor and L'manberg will always be in ruins (repeating as in the first ark Dream blew it up and now Will.................)

Fun fact about sadist animations, she keeps everything consistent, during her dream v techno animatic technos hair gets cut off and dream gets a face scar, as the videos have progressed technos hair has slowly been growing longer and dream still has the scar
I now recommend you listen to the theme songs, by Kanaya. She is absolutely amazing, she is like SAD-ist but for songs. Techno's and Dream's are epic.

Now you've finished the first season you should react to Kanaya's album called November 16th which has themes for Dream, Niki, Tubbo, Tommy, Wilbur, Techno, Fundy and Phil
I'm pretty sure it's a clock in the background of nameless' animatic but it you read it as a button it's almost like the button is calling to Wilbur and egging him on to press it.
After this, there is a lot of important events that happen on the server that gets cut out in videos due to time. Because of this I would recommend watching some of the stream vods instead. The most important people to watch would be Tommy, Techno, Tubbo and a new character Ranboo.

Okay so now your gonna need to start relying on the clips channels as most of the content now are mostly in streams.
Wilbur and tommy are the people who usually upload the SMP content but since Wilbur's is dead and its just Ghoustbur (dead Wilbur who appears on other's streams) and tommy doesn't upload as much SMP content, cause he wants most of his viewers to just watch the streams (which we do now, and im sure there are other reasons as well), the quick summed up events that happen aren't there any more.
I recommend that you get like a mod or specific people to organize which stream clips you should watch and not ask your whole discord. That's just not reliable.
I hope you get into the other characters more now cause they are VERY important to main plot right now (Philza, Fundy, Ranboo, Niki, Technoblade, etc.). Well good luck... ~Melz Rants

I know people are so used to saying "animatic" for SADist, but it is a full animation. The sliding cuts of just pictures are just pictures. But the motion is animated frame for frame instead of like 1 frame every 1-5 seconds like an animatic is.

I totally agree that these animators do such a great job of bringing our imaginations to life. They are definitely a huge part of what makes Dream SMP so special. If you are looking for some more great animatics that won't spoil anything I would recommend "If the Dream SMP had an Anime Opening," and "Smokey Eyes." Both are really good.

my favorite part of Sadist's animatic here is Tubbo in Techno's vault. When he was there he stole like a 1/2 stack of emerald BLOCKS from techno, and Sadist put that in. You can see him running past Niki with the sword with his arms stuffed with gems while having the happiest smile of all time. Also the fact that the Declaration in the beginning before tommy's face pops up says "SUCK IT GREEEN BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOY!" is hilarious.
Wilbur is one of - if not the - favorite for me because of his acting!

When I watch the streams, I usually have it on in the background while doing various chores or while working, so when I watch it I'm always inserting images the same way I would while reading a book. HOWEVER, those images have become very inspired by the amazing animators.
I love looking at descriptions of videos, just scroll to the bottom of it and see all the words so it gets recomended when searching things
As a fellow artist It always looks like a movie to me, even just watching the actual VODs, I can see all the scenes animated in my head as they happen. sometimes I even like to act out the characters lines as they come to really get a feel for the tension, dream will always be my favourite to act out.
The artists of the Dream SMP fandom really are the best part :)

Towards the end of Dawn of 16th, there's a bunch of very brief frames, one of which is a shot of the three newcomers of season 2! That's kind of a tradition in Sad-ist animatics, showing a few frames at the end featuring upcoming characters or events. I know that seeing Ranboo in even a single frame was enough to send my group chat into a frenzy- he's very important in season 2, and became a lot of people's favorite (including mine) very quickly! I'd also like to recommend watching the Chaos animatic by Toktopus, I think it's one of the best November 16th animatics out there (along with these three)!

'Never Meant to Be' was what got me into the SMP; I hadn't known it was like minecraft d&d until then, I'd thought it was just a normal survival multiplayer. I've been down the rabbit hole ever since, and my only regret is that I didn't find out sooner, bc I'd been subscribed to Wilbur for a while and could have watched the downfall of L'Manburg in real time, but missed my chance. My favorite POV's I'm following are Ranboo, Phil, Techno, Ghostbur, and Tubbo

When you watched the clip by The Channel Without A Name, that was actually Philza's first few moments on the SMP
For the Innocence animatic, it is less of a coming of age story for tommy and more of a story of Wilbur’s life on the amp. It starts with him entering for the first time and ends with his death
Responding to your question about whether this is a coming of age story for Tommy: The Dream SMP character development is a little closer to life than most stories in that it is cyclical rather than linear. Characters have moments where they develop, but then slide back on that development before growing again. It is imperfect, like life. Tommy certainly grows, but at some points it is more obvious than others, which makes it difficult to tell whether it is truly a coming of age story.
Also, you will want to come back to these comments after you catch up to the events of 1/6/21 because even though they aren’t exactly spoilers, they will make more sense in context. You can probably already see that the answers to your question are a bit divided, which will make more sense when you catch up.

I know people noticed, but I never see many people talk about it, but the scars on Tubbo are meant to be the burn scars he got from the fireworks when he was publicly executed by Techno. I just love that detail; along with Philza's torn wing (explaining why he can't fly on the dream smp in a clever way).
so with all these moments i dont see them as animatics but as ideas- I do a little audio mixing and animating and these streams that people use are amazing, and i can see those and say "that's gonna make a good animatic" or see an event and imagine ways it would look with more expressive characters, but that always changes while youre animating.
Tubbo is actually older than tommy but is always portrayed as younger for some reason
My two favourite few seconds of SAD-ists animatic was 1) the dust motes when Eret gets dethroned 17:00 and 2) Tubbo running across the camera with armfuls of emeralds. 18:50 (If you saw it when it happened, techno noticed that someone had removed stacks of emeralds from the chests!)
