I mean, I appreciate that the nicer radio costs more, but the Jensen doesn’t seem too bad. Not getting quite enough kudos imo. They have a 9in unit out with the same pixel count which would make it looks a little more “HD”. Barebones like you said, but doesn’t seem too bad.
For my use case the price increase is not justifiable. I do want wireless android auto, but you can get $50 adapters for that now, I also want to be able to play CDs.
Just because the cheaper radio isn’t hood doesn’t mean the larger radio isn’t overpriced. I’m mean, at $1400, it’s competing with the top of the line cell phones and decently spec’s laptops and PCs. That seems a bit overkill for a cad radio
I just installed my KW-Z1000W a couple weeks ago and absolutely LOVE IT!!! the wireless Android Auto and car play is amazing. But my favorite is wireless mirroring. Netflix looks AMAZING on this display.
@@jaquellarobinson3432 it didnt really bother me i have up an down buttons touch screen colume controls and i can also control volume and subwoofer levels from my DSP guess it just depends what your running in your car
Is there a chance you will be doing a comparison of the Kenwood DMX1057XR against the JVC KW-1000W? I am undecided between the two and would really like your expert opinion before I spend all that money. I know the are made by the same company now.
Ok so they are the same unit except for the knob. But beyond that they are the same. They both have 5 volt preouts, live wall paper, optional parametric eq and three way networking. Which the Kenwood DMX1037s does not have. So knob or no knob? That is the question!
Well the Jensen is just a rebranded Dual. Are you actually getting anything other than a name. For the price Dual stuff is not terrible but I don't like that the harness is aluminum wire and not copper. Is the Jensen copper or aluminum?
I can see applications for both. I have a 1 ton truck I use occasionally for towing our boat and our 5th wheel trailer. The Jensen seems like it would be fine for that. If I was still commuting over an hour each way 5 days a week in my car then the JVC would be my choice.
What's the best DVD headunit with Apple car play under $800? I got a wife and kids these days. I can't go dropping G's on car stereo stuff. I need the best bump for the buck. Also it needs expandability for monitors in the back for kids.
What’s the best unit to pair in my 2015 Chevy Silverado? I still have a factory head unit. But I’m running a 4 channel amp for my aftermarket door speakers and a separate amp for my subs. The factory unit just won’t cut it for me anymore.
Krutchfield’s automatic “does it fit your car” system says nothing 10” will fit in my 2014 yukon. Not to mention, nearly everything on their site says out of stock. Chip shortages I guess. Can you recommend a 10” or bigger, JVC or Kenwood high end unit that will fit in my Yukon? I also want the I datalink maestro and I want to use my factory bose speakers so I will need extras for that. Thank you
The market for these head units is weird. I was shopping for one of these for my girlfriend's car last month and discovered that really the only options I had were a $400 unit from Jensen or BOSS or a $1,200 unit from Alpine, Kenwood, Pioneer, etc. There was no middle ground. I'd pay a premium for a brand I have come to trust, but not three times more.
I had a Jensen CAR1000 which is very similar but does not have the disc drive. It was okay but it felt very cheap. I ended up returning it because I couldn’t stand the button color (blue) against my red dash lights.
Anybody else miss the good ole days of the single din flip out monitors were the best of the best. Still wish they made them. Jvc was the bottom of the barrel and Jensen was top of the line equipment back then.
I had my first flip up radio 20 years or more ago. Made by alpine. Had a Playstaion hooked up to it! JVC has come a long way since being merged with Kenwood.
@@vanillamidget8560 far better than it is now. Actually most of the brands were better before than they are now. They focused on quality audio instead of giant stupid screens in a vehicle that your not supposed to be looking at while driving anyway 😅
Seriously, that cheaper unit is one of the worst you could have chosen. The Joying has DSP 32 band equaliser. I have heard the JVC and to be honest, I much prefer the Joying sound.. Why didn't you mention that the Joying allows the use of alternative car dashboards from google play?
We don’t have much experience with the Joying Brand but it looks to be the Chinese radios that are low priced. We have not had good experience with those type brands that’s why we don’t review them. But this is the second time that brand has come up so maybe we should. I saw your other comment on the 10.1 Joying so we’ll contact them to see if they are willing to send us one to compare against. Thanks for the suggestion
I don’t have a Silverado but I recommend the alpine ILX-W650 it’s a great double din with Apple car play and android auto it just doesn’t have a CD player if you would need that
This headunit is mediocre at best and the post sales support is non existent. JVC basically put a half baked product out for $1200 and has no intention of fixing any bugs or making the HDMI or remote available. Never again!
We’ve found this radio really good. And support for JVC is normally really good. Try calling (800) 582-5825 if you haven’t already. What issues are you having? Maybe we can help out. We’ve had lots of success with this particular radio. Also you mentioned them making a HDMI. Not sure what that means. Can you explain ?
I know we’re bias!! But not because they cost more.. it’s because they give more flexibility when it comes to options and sound adjustments. Also the failure rate is zero (well that’s what we have experienced.)
Not really bro its two screws that holds the screen in i never screw those in so when im done for the day i just take the whole damn screen in the house with me
Biggest difference: NO VIDEO OUTPUT ON THE JENSEN! why wouldn’t they add this? One simple cable and it would have been done. If you want external monitors for rear passengers, forget it! Monitor is 1024 x 600.
Actually, just thinking about it, you could get a separate roof-mount screen (maybe DVD or something that syncs / mirrors a phone) and use that for the INPUT and run the video through that first then send it to the Jensen through the AV Inputs. Now you have what you need without the need to send video out.

You can mirror off the phone wirelessly on android. Or through the HDMI for an iPhone

You don’t need a volume knob when you have gesture controls on the jvc. Just circle your finger on the screen and vol goes up or down.

Do the Boss 10 inch stereo
Test out the sundown vs Orion subwoofer
