This shawl is gorgeous! Well done!!!! A word about bamboo needles: they are the very best for keeping the stitches from slipping off the needles. Love them!

You gush all you like, sweetie. I've been subscribed to you for three years or so because of your crochet. But the thumbnail of this piece has been whispering to me, saying, "come on, give Spider a chance, he gave you confidence on crochet, surely you can learn knitting with his tutorials!"
So far so good! I've restarted like ten times, but that's because I keep losing count, not because of you.

Oh, how I wish I could find my knitting needles! They got packed in a box for moving and dissapeared! I can get my grandson to take me to Michael's, but I'm afraid to go. All the sales are on and I am afraid that I will have to get some of this yarn and some of that yarn, and oh...I didn't know this one was on sale! Oh, look at the new colour in this yarn, I just need to get a few!!!!

I did extensive searches on Google AND on Ravelry, and I could not find even ONE crochet pattern that had these same characteristics as this pattern: 1) solid or nearly solid diamonds, 2) lace, and 3) raised/post divider stitches that give it texture. (I understand that the "divider" stitches are not actually textured/overlay stitches, but it looks that way, and gives interest to the pattern. *What makes this pattern unique compared to most crochet diamond patterns, is the lace ALONG WITH the stitches that surround & divide the diamonds.*
There are A LOT of knitting patterns similar to this, and TONS of crochet patterns with lacy diamonds, but the majority of the crochet diamond lacy patterns are "flat" and "boring" compared to Fiber Spider's pattern. ALSO, the crochet patterns that have no lacey stitches, the "diamonds" were made by overlay stitches, actually surface stitches on a solid crochet background, that were added after the background was made, not during, to give the illusion of diamonds, which is okay, but it makes a very solid blanket with decoration but is not "airy" because there aren't any lacey, open stitches.
And I did not just search blankets & throws, but I did other searches to see if there were any shawls, cowls, hats, clothing, etc made with a pattern with these characteristics, yet still came up wit NOTHING. The closest pattern to this on all of Ravelry turned out to be a hat pattern called "Diamonds and Lace Hat" by Linda Permann, but the "lace" in the name is referring to the top of the hat where there are no diamonds, but a circle with a star, so there's not enough open/lacey stitches to make it close enough to Fiber Spider's pattern, but what separated it from other similar patterns is the fact that each diamond has one, sort of "open" stitch at the top of every diamond, but it's due to the way it's constructed, not due to lacey stitches.
So, I will add this to my (long) list of items to design, and if I can come up with a crochet version that is close enough to do justice to Fiber Spider's pattern, I will let you know. I can't promise anything, but being that there's nothing close to it available makes me want to figure out a crochet version even more. I really love this pattern due to the same characteristics that make it very different from similar diamond crochet patterns.

Yes of course, you will just need to adjust your needle size and most likely make more repeats than I did to get the size you want.
