@@Muscle.Car.Central Oh, believe me, I was eyeballing every frame it was in. Chevelle has always been my dream car. When I was very young, my older brother had a 69 Chevelle 396 SS and I've loved them ever since.
Sorry nick Lauren is right the 69 camaro sounds the best . The freedom rocket cackles and you can hear how the 454 is loving the flow of the exhaust. It's funny she got scared more in this video then the airbags blowing up.
I remember my pops saying how gm kinda underrated there horse power numbers for insurances reaones back in those days not sure if that's true or not lol
@@Muscle.Car.Central - my sister had a 435hp 427 67 vette. Most said it was actually 650hp. Back in the day... mom gave it to me and said sell it when she got a $800 insurance adder over the price of her 63-327 Vette insurance, for 6 months. Which was a lot of money back then for car insurance.
@@THatChevyguy91 My dad sold his all original 69 Z/28 about 4 years ago. Hugger orange with black stripes. Was an X33 coded car. White houndstooth interior. The 302, was a badass motor....definitely underrated
My dad and I have a 63 nova with a built 350 in it. We just put cutouts in. You definitely should! Give the car a split personality and can quiet it down when you want to.
Interested to see dyno results. 454 HO has 8.75:1 compression for pump gas friendly and a smaller hydraulic cam. 1970 LS6 had 11.25:1 compression back when they had leaded gas with a larger solid lift cam. The 454 HO might be a little more accurate to GM performance 438 rating.
I put a set of Appliance headers on a 69 Chevelle 396/375 auto, rejeted the Holley and tuned the Distributor on. Sun Dirt machine in 1969 and the lost 1.5 secs in the 1/4
You may have driven cars with triple the HP but this car has a 50 year old Chassis and suspension design with a much smaller tire than the 6th gen or Freedom Rocket. Food for thought brother!
Glad I watched this. I'm building a 64 chevelle with a 454 right now. I've been going back in forth about mufflers and this video just made my decision. Why would you ever muffle that beautiful sound of a 454? No mufflers for me my friend. Thanks for the video, beautiful car.
A Yo Nick, man I’ve This is literally my first time visiting your channel since early 2019 I think. I’m so glad to see this BB 69. It’s f’n Beautiful! Nicely done man
If you go with wider tires in the back (better traction) be careful with that 10 bolt 8.2 rear end it will disintegrate with the power that 454 puts out .
I've always told people throughout the past 15 years, that if a company makes a 304-308 stainless steel header and a exhaust system (Even a 409 stainless steel) to save up the extra cast and buy it. Then send it out to get ceramic coated and it will last 20-30 years or more depending on a variety of situations like, if you clean them, live in a desert climate, don't drive in salty roads, etc. Every friend I have that purchased mild steel headers have had to swap them out for another set. Sometimes even more. Once my 4th set of mild steel headers (On 2 cars) rotted away, I finally forked the cash to buy a set stainless works headers for my 97 Z28 and a set of Clear Imaging headers for my 95 Impala SS and a set of American Racing headers for my 89 Mustang GT. All ceramic coated do to the fact I live right next to the Ocean and Bay. So the air here is always saturated with salt. Sometimes you can even taste it on your lips.
If it has forged rotating assembly, put a noisy solid tappet cam in it, period correct to have tappet noise. Needs tubs to fit fat tires. Big Blocks love nitros.
One thing you might want to think about is ditching that 700r4 and getting a 4L80e because that 700 is weak and and when it shifts to second the RPM falls off a mountain
Dang.. love it even more now. Tastefully done. Lauren's reaction coming out of the tunnel was priceless, definitely screenshot worthy. Sorry, not sorry Lauren. Lol.
Holy crap I need to check my channels more often, how the hell did I miss you getting the 69!?? Welp time to binge watch vids so I can catch up. Damn thats nice!
my truck is a 350 with open headers and the cops really don’t like me so i eventually had to get an exhaust system, plus the fumes were slowly killing me
Nick you need to do a video on your buddies garage and do 3 separate videos on his 3 Chevelles he has and if something happens to the 454 in the Camaro pull it out and put in a Chevrolet Performance 572cid with a TH400 trans and a Strange 9in rear end with disc brakes and you should put a Strange 9in rear in the Freedom Rocket as well
Lauren is a girl after my own heart saying that the big block 454 in the 69 sounds better than the LS and LT1 and I fully agree with her as I grew up around cars and drag racing specifically Chevrolet and we built our own engines in the garage, in the back yard, and under a car port, hell one time my dad and I fully assembled a SBC 406cid nitrous engine in his den of his house and my dad and I are very fond of the SBC as him and I built a 355cid SBC with 14.1:1 compression and a good set of heads and pistons and rods and a good crankshaft with a 540+ lift solid lift camshaft it had a sound of it's own and for naturally aspirated it ran good too it would run mid to low 10s depending on the weather and track we were at and the best part is it stayed together with no catastrophic failures for over 10 years going racing almost every weekend until he wanted to go faster so we built the 406cid with nitrous but then we wanted to go even faster so we turned the 406cid into a 434cid with better and stronger parts and put more nitrous to it and now he runs only the 1/8th mile and he runs 5.0s-4.90s
I am wondering where you purchased the complete Header to tailpipe set. I have a 69, power steering, etc. and just want to get a complete set that someone has installed and not need to ding the tube by the PS box.
Even cars with less hp can still get away from you. My closest call came in my cobra (300 hp) and I have a car with 4 times the hp...gotta respect it no matter what my friend!!
Lauren is a smart girl, nothing sounds better than an old big block
Derek Rogers Exactly
Man if only they made some sort of valve that could be welded in after the headers to get that open headers sound at the push of a button 🤔👀
LSX Underground 👀😂
LSX Underground Exhaust cut outs
Old Doggo lol he knows he’s being sarcastic
@@Muscle.Car.Central Ya, and it wont set off the Airbags in that old car!
JazzedHellcat airbags ? Thought with this one you're going out like a real man. No airbags.

My OCD is going nuts seeing the passenger side tailpipe sticking out further then driver's side
Im clearly out of the loop, you got a 69! AWESOME! About time a youtuber got a sick car that isn't modern or that every other youtuber has.

Steering box issues is why my Nova went rack and pinion. It also has super comps which take up more room kuz of 2 1/8" primaries

Nothing but a Ferrari sounds better then a 396/427/454 HP with those headers!! Love it - nice car !!!!
Needs 3in 2 chamber Flowmaster mufflers in place of the Hooker mufflers imo. Lil louder and deeper and not as loud as the cutouts.
