Hey guys still taking a "break" from "routine" upload videos. Focusing on prepping for my bodybuilding comp. 4 weeks out today. Doesn't mean we don't have videos in the pipeline! Cause we do! Currently in Canada getting some training and videos filmed! Much love!
Sam is such a great contribution to these videos. She asks good questions and you can tell she’s genuinely interested. Really helps open the conversation, awesome video guys!
John Meadows would be proud seeing you guys doing the meadow row and working out this video. Keep up the great content juji! New people new adventures, lovin' it!
I’m in my early 30’s and the injuries are starting to stack up between all of the kinds of things I do for fun and health. I can definitely see switching to a less aggressive lifting style to reduce the stress on my body.
@Truffs Also don't forget to slowly increase the weight to your desired one rep max percentage. I almost popped my biceps when i went for the 6 reps with maximum weight and had cramping forearms instantly. Don't forget to do warmups.
@Truffs Injury prevention, recovery work, etc is such a major additional time investment beyond just typical warmups, training and stretching. To commit that level to it I think you really have to make it your primary or one of your main focuses in your life. Many people don't want to invest that much into it, but after a certain age it's almost necessary to keep making progress. So that more or less means you make it one of your main focuses, or you back off to a level that's acceptable to you and your overall health. If it's not something you either make money from or are just extremely passionate about, it doesn't make sense for most people to invest that much time into.
@@8Rider6 What could you recommend? Currently i am doing a cardio warmup, then mobility work and when i start lifting I go up in steps. E.g for a 180kg deadlift i jump in 20kg steps
Cause it doesn’t destroy your joints over time with heavy percentages and a restriction to 3 movements. Powerlifting is awesome but a lot of times you need to focus on longevity and the injury risk from bodybuilding is much lower
Been waiting for Ranson to get back. Remember there was supposed to be a video on his home gym few years ago that never came out. Anyways welcome back Ranson
Non athletic to a mostly powerlifting mix for only about 8 of my 32 years. Just kinda do whatever works for me, you know? Nowhere near professional level, but that doesn’t bother me. Wish I started early, but it was something I had to learn to prioritize on my own.
Powerlifting and bodybuilding is like toast and butter. They're a perfect combo, you can do a 12-16 week cycle focusing on strength and you get a little bulk then do a 12-16 week cut and have more muscle than last time and they both work.
I still consider myself a novice lifter. But I've learned a LOT over the past two years. Mostly from people like Juji, his guests, and the people he recommends!
@@areyoutheregoditsmedave Yeah. It's alright to spend a month cutting down a bit for the summer, but you should not be trying to be lean before you're at least well into intermediate. My rows are almost advanced, my DL almost intermediate, but my bench is still solidly novice. like 92 kg. This is according to strengthlevel's calculator.
@@TheBcoolGuy Why should you not try and get lean? What do you mean by lean? Sub 10%? If you're goal is to build muscle and you aren't running gear then no one wants to be sub 10%, aside from a few genetic freaks perhaps. And are you talking about powerlifting or bodybuilding? Because a 92kg bench could EASILY see you through to intermediate bodybuilding, if not perhaps advanced, assuming ROM and technique is on point. Also for bodybuilding if anyone is going to make gains while being lean it IS the beginner, because everything makes them grow. Powerlifting I know little about
Hey Juji! I said it last video, and I'll repeat it again, you're looking *VERY* good for your comp, toned up, physique really poking out, especially shoulders. Charge ahead dude!
Loved this video! So much useful advice. Need someone like you as my life coach. You really seem to have it figured out. Sam is a major upgrade over he who's name we no longer speak! Fun watching you grow amigo! Hope you win it all!
"50 reps is like an entire workout, its like CrossFit" then you got Tom Platz doing 4 sets of 60 reps in the leg extensions, and even 100 squats with 225 in his back, call me crazy but if that kind of training built the greatest legs in Bodybuilding I think it works.
John, I started out as a bodybuilder, now I’ve been a powerlifter for 3 years, now I should go back to just bodybuilding because I’ve discovered over the years that powerlifting is just strength training, power=strength hint hint; my shoulders were/are not gaining size and one of the guys is right about the sets and reps in bodybuilding you can do more.
19:17 that laugh had the same energy as the guy who made the "unzip your table, just like you unzip your pants" joke and awkwardly laughing very loudly and for awkwardly too long.
When you asked about the 20rep deadlifts with 15rep weight, made me think about the Super Squats routine. I’m sure you’ve heard about it, but if not, look it up. It’s killer.
As sports go, I liked juji's vids a lot more when they were about armwrestling and crazy power shenanigans, I'm just not a big fan of BB, but hell, who am I kidding, I'd watch these videos even if they were about running or cycling lol
I haven't seen a lot of powerlifters make the journey to bodybuilding. Not true bodybuilding anyways. And I mean, why would they? It's all around a much harder sport to become decent in. Would you rather do 405 for 20, or 4 sets of 5? Would you rather be able to mostly eat what you want, or have a very restrictive diet? Would you rather have more time with friends and family, or less?
I want to see derrick displaying supraphysiological levels of strength in the weight room instead of supraphysiological levels of knowledge in the sauna for a change
Cool vid Juji!!! Again love the fun positive vibe you bring!!! Now, with the many things you are into, I would like to offer the the opportunity to come to NC to be a career firefighter in my Dept!!! I can teach ya all you need to know!! We could definitely use a guy with a fun, positive attitude!!! Plus we can start ya off at….. wait for it……… 35K per year 😅. Now that’s an offer you can’t refuse!!!🤣 Anyway keep up the good work and good luck at your show. Looking good!!
I’ve never seen Sam before so I have no idea what she looks like and for a brief second at 2:28 I thought that was the first ever shot of Sam. But I was wrong, it was actually just Juji in some fancy pants! 😂🤣

You are looking great man! Good luck with your training

Couldn't agree more, Juji will not find a better Camera(wo)man
I totally agree! I found myself enjoying how well she keeps the videos engaging and on track.
True 100%!
John will always be a legend. Feel like it was yesterday I was chilling watching him put you guys through the leg gauntlet
RIP MOUNTAIN DOG
Juji: "I'm on a RUclips break
Also Juji: "hey guys, here's a 30min video"

It was a pretty low effort video. The theme looks like it was discovered in the editing process.
I believe he did say there would be sporadic videos.
It’s not a dad bod, its a father figure
BARS. Should have a million likes
Aren't they the same things?🤦 Dad mean father n body is also a figure

@Truffs I don’t know how you’re sure, but you’re right. Falling off a dirt bike didn’t help much either 😆

Such a cool and informative dude. My training has greatly improved because of John

the fucking matching hernias killed me
Are you a powerlifter turned bodybuilder or a bodybuilder turned powerlifter? What's your experience?!
Or a Strongman turned CrossFit? 😳
Powerlifter turned editor 😎
What about the almight hybrid... the powerbuilder! or do we shun those?

Yeah, it takes a while to get to intermediate, but I'm sure you're almost there. I'm in the same situation.
I’ve been lifting seriously for a couple years now too (with a couple month break) and I’m still a novice. I wasted a bunch of time cutting

I'd say it puts your body in extreme strain, but it does have debilitating effect on heart and joints as you age. Nothing wrong with either PL or BB.
