He speaks quite similar to how I speak it so I could understand most of it - I feel proud that there are still people in the younger generations like us that are still speaking Teochew and are making efforts to maintain it. Keep it up! :) Would be fun to hear more of it in future vids hehe

As for me an overseas teochewnese residing in jakarta, born and bred here though full blooded teochewnese and my belated granddad is from jieyang, i ve not a bit of difficulties understanding those from chaosan region. Forget those from chao pu subgroup or those from chao zhang subgroup. Those are not the same league as the chaochou subgroup.

hi from a teochew from Singapore. Hainanese shares about 10-20 percent with Teochew as both are sub-dialects of the Minnan dialect, but have undergone changes in syllables and pronunciation. (for eg. 13 is Tsap Sar in Teochew, but Hainanese the "s' becomes "t" and it becomes "tap da". If you research the leizhou dialect 雷州 dialect, it is even nearer to Teochew. Brendan‘s accent is closer to the Shanwei or Huilai accent. Best regards.

actually Hainanese is categorized as ramified from Min nan dialect, though nowadays they are not so interchangeable.

TeoZhou and Hainan both are Hokkien south Min language. TeoZhou are mixed with Zhangzhou Fujian and Hakka.
不对。。。明朝时潮泉是一致。清朝时除了汕尾人之外广府人与客家人的接触最多。清朝时潮州府受到清朝官话的影响·，所以文读和白读开始跟福建产生差异。海南人大部分是过了海的潮州人。

首先潮州話都有分口音.最講究音準是潮州府城.是內陸口音.其他如潮陽口音是近海打魚口音.海南島至湛江一帶的口音事實和潮汕語有很相像地方,但性格文化卻相差很大.以我所理解.潮州人是中原人.而湛江人不是中原人.
