Alabama is actually a very beautiful state. I drove through Alabama on a way to west coast some years ago and I was surprised to see how pretty Alabama is. Thanks for sharing your experience there. I'm hoping ro get out there and do some hiking myself at some point. 👍
So glad you enjoyed it! This was our first time in Alabama and really enjoyed the views and the waterfalls. Definitely recommend getting back out there when you can!
I use to go to Desoto a couple of weekends each month, until they installed the sodium vapor lights that sty on ll night. No star gazing here. There are several other campgrounds near by that don't have all night lights.
I took my boy scout troop up there. We were on a hike in LRC and had crossed over this small creek. When we got to the point where we were going to hike out, we had to cross the creek again. I told the scouts to take their shoes off and tie the shoe strings together and put them around their neck. the crossed the creek one by one until suddenly as one scoout was crossing he dropped his shoe into the creek. There it went floating down the creek. I quickly picked up a rock and threw it at the shoe and said fetch. My black lab took off, of course he didn't see the rock but the shoe and grabbed it and brought it back. That scout had two shoes to walk back to the car in.
