We come by every summer on our way to summer camp. We take the scouts and new parents down to the river to swim at our secret swimming hole. Been doing this for over 20 years now. My son learned to kayak the river and we have been many times. During the year we usually come up for a week at Easter or Madri Gras and set up our base camp and take day trips around the area. We take them climbing, caving, hiking, visit multiple sites and finally, rafting if it is warm enough. If not we get the rafting in after summer camp. They always want to go back, so each year we mix it up a little going different places, but always swimming. They have fun, but always learn something they can use later on in life. Did you hike down under Little River Falls? yes you can do that, expecially in the winter if the water is lower. I first kayaked the canyon in 1987. Just a beautiful place.

That's awesome! I used to love doing that type of stuff when I was a kid! So I'm sure they love it. Stuff like that you'll remember for the rest of your life.
I didn't know you could hike under it that's pretty cool! At some point when we return I'll remember that!

I have a goal for 2023 - see more waterfalls! These are such great spots. These type of hikes is great for our family. I have run into that issue also. Glad this worked. On our 13 day trip I downloaded all my clips and organized each day. Luckily the GoPro SD cards are not as expensive. The video turned out well! The worst is when the sound doesn’t work. RUclipsr problems.

    • @NickandRachel
      @NickandRachel  Год назад +1

I'm pretty sure there's plenty of easier hikes you guys can do this year! Especially as much time as you spend traveling.
Forgetting the memory card and losing the GoPro are the two biggest problem that we've had so far lol
Need to get me a new GoPro this year
Yeah I've had sound just quit working when my mic broke on my last camera before that was something lol. Had to still sound from other nature clips I had to make it match up 😂

$300! Is your memory card made of gold? Little things like this in trail always add to the adventure. At least you were able to capture the adventure without the slow mo. Graces fall was incredible! Will have to check this out next time in Alabama.

This camera has like six different file types it can put out. The largest file type you need like a $600 memory card lol Glad I don't need that one 😂
Yeah I was glad to see it actually recorded lol
So apparently that's the highest above ground waterfall now we got to see the underground one!

Every summer on our way to summer camp, I bring the scout troop up to LRC. We hike down to our secret, favorite swimming hole and spend the day jumping into the river and swimming. We have even made our own trails in some places. Other places we follow animal trails or just find our way. Climbing out at a secret waterfall that is 50' tall is always exciting, but when it is raining it is extra challenging. They are always ready to go back. Every other winter we come up at Madri Gras or Easter for a week. We set up camp and do day trips around the area hiking, climbing or visiting historical places. Our list is now about 20 places long and growing. Each year I find another location to visit so there is always a surprise. But the canyon is really special. We love hiking and swimming there.

That sounds like all of you have a great time! I would love to swim in a 50-ft waterfall that sounds so exciting 😃
As much as we love some locations we always are traveling and finding somewhere new and when we're really missing them will return and it's always special so I know exactly what you mean!
Sorry for the late reply we've been out of town on a trip exploring new places 😀 appreciate you commenting and watching the video! Happy New Year's 🎊

I take the troop back up to north Alabama every other year for a week. Usually at Madri Gras or Easter. We set up camp and do day trips around the area. My list now has about 25 items for us to hike, climb, swim or visit historical or educational places. along with the fun they are completing requirements for rank or merit badges, and adding to their overall knowledge. They don't always know it, but are having fun. Most of my sons close are also Eagle Scouts and to hear them tell stories from their view point is interesting to hear.@@NickandRachel

Great waterfall and nice you can easy get there!
I know the feeling when you can't film or do it the way you planned. I had it not that lo'g ago. My action camera didn't want to work, I couldn't start my drone (my own fault), so I only had my phone to film. Then I noticed I brought the wrong cable to the power bank... Oh well it still ended up OK and so did yours. Slow motion is nice, but if it's not possible, it's not possible.. 😉
    All the best, Kaat
