This reminds me of one of the more memorable Star trek Voyager episodes. The crew of Voyager encountered an alien culture that did not have music. After the crew introduces them to music the alien culture quickly embraces it but merely as an expression of mathematics. Their compositions were nothing you could dance too or find soothing as the math behind the notes is what they enjoyed.

Thanks again, always interesting and entertaining.
Some random thoughts to do with eyeball planets. Ignoring for the moment that such bodies orbiting that close to a red dwarf are probably barren rocks without any atmosphere it's feasible some could be surprisingly Earth-like:
-If a planet close-in was locked in to a reasonably fast resonance you'd end up with something approximating a normal day-night cycle.
-Such a planet, aided by tidal heating, might have a strong enough magnetic field to hold on to it's atmosphere if it's star was on the quiet side for a red dwarf.
-Even if tidally locked a reasonably thick atmosphere could transport heat sufficiently well that most, if not all, could be pretty pleasant... apart from the wind!
Interestingly it's starting to look like our planet got it's solid core as recently as 500 million years ago, so our "dynamo" is a recent development. As the Earth wasn't a barren rock without an atmosphere prior to that we must have had some other mechanism for holding on to an atmosphere, and seemingly the Earth had strong geomagnetism in the past, for some reason...
...if that is true for our planet it might be true for eyeball planets... at least until their core solidifies, which might be delayed as a result of tidal heating. It may be a coincidence but it's funny that at just about the time our planet changed it's method for generating a magnetic field life developed some significant new tricks. We may also have dodged a bullet as it seems quickly developing a dynamo to replace whatever was going on before was not a given... Moon..?
So much speculation, so many questions, and so many answers yet to be found!
