    It is hard for Rodman, Swanson, Smith to have a good game when no one passed to them. 1000 passes... Mostly the back line passing to each other... And just because Japan played a dreaded "low block", the sidelines were there. Germany is not worse than Japan.. And it was not because of Japan's defense. Japan basically had some transition moments, but the US basically just passed back and forth> The front three didn't look sluggish. How much did Swanson actually touch the ball.. You need a pass to touch the ball

    Rosie and Dunn actually played more aggressively, but the rest of the midfielders and backline were to passive, afraid to step up and make attacking passes. They were like a lazy practice session running out the clock. This team has so much potential, but being held back by cautious players too well trained by mediocre coaches

    • @marvinprudencio7321
      @marvinprudencio7321 Месяц назад

      They had to pass cautiously because Japan was hoping for a bad pass or a mistake because they had been best of when doing a counter. In all 3 group stage matches of Japan they had less possession than their opponents which showed their effectiveness when pressing and forcing mistakes. So the United States did the right thing in this game trying their best to prevent mistakes even if that meant passing backwards or sideways to find a different path to goal.

    • @xavierestrada5676
      @xavierestrada5676 Месяц назад +1

      @@marvinprudencio7321 that cautious style is a waste of the only strength of our roster-our 3 attacking forwards. Our defense is weak, our goalie is slow to react, our best approach is to press their defenders and play aggressively on offense, we have the talent to score 3 goals per game. We probably looked worse than we played because Horan couldn’t complete a single pass in the 1st half, she is in terrible form this year and needs to be replaced, captain should not be our weakest player just because of age

    Of course the U.S. did more to win--they scored more goals. I'm so tired of this discussion of "who deserved to win" in soccer. If the score doesn't determine who was more deserving, the game needs to be changed. In no other major sport does this silly discussion exist.

      @@joshx2117Eh, there was a reason why Horan came off the bench for almost every game when they won the 2019 World Cup. She's too slow and doesn't play in the same frequency as her US teammates.

    I don't understand why football analysts are unwilling to make an honest analysis of a match?
    All the teams and all the players are subject to the exact same rules of the tournament, and they are subject to the same number of substitutions. The same rules apply to all the teams. All the coaches pick their teams based on their needs and their wants. It makes no sense to complain about the rules, whether they be stupid or not. All the teams, all the federations, all the players know the rules before the tournament begins, so stop complaining about that.
    Next, forget about the group stage, it is over. Whether you finished first second or third in the group, it doesn't matter anymore, this is the elimination stage and every team is on level terms. Nothing that your team did in the group stage matters now, the only thing that matters is whether you are able to find a way to win. Completing 1,000 or even 2,000 passes makes no difference if you can't score.

      @@user-im3hr1ed2l Perhaps I'm misunderstanding. If that is the case I apologize. My comment is directed specifically to an honest analysis of a football match. In this case the USA vs Japan. Both teams have had the same number of matches. Have been awarded the same amount of rest time in-between games. They both called up the same amount of players to their national teams and are playing under the same rules of the tournament.
      Wokeness, as defined in Webster's dictionary “aware of and actively attentive to important facts and issues (especially issues of racial and social justice), and identified as U.S. slang. It originated in African American English and gained more widespread use beginning in 2014 as part of the Black Lives Matter movement."
      I don't think it applies to this conversation since we are talking about a sports tournament where every party involved is on a level plane. It does not address any social issues, simply the journalists lack of impartiality when it comes to reporting the facts of a game.
      FYI, I have no political affiliation and do not belong to a specific political party. I'm simply a football enthusiast calling on journalists to report facts, not feelings.
