      @djknox2 Месяц назад +2

      @Vincerogers1618 That specific reason and CONCACAF being one of the weaker confederations is why the US and Mexico maintain such high FIFA world rankings. It's a distinct advantage that will continue to bolster both the USA and Mexico - noting that playing in the USA is like home to Mexico too. I'm curious to see if the NL finals and the Gold Cup next year will continue to stay in the US?
      Note that in ELO rankings, Mexico is highest at 21, followed by Canada 28, then USA 34, then Panama 36 and Costa Rica 51. Jamaica is 66. Although not perfect, ELO is a better indicator than the FIFA world rankings as it takes into account home and away factors.

    • @djknox2
      @djknox2 Месяц назад +1

      They have considerably more talent, especially at full strength. Davies is better than Pulisic (the two teams' best players), but not by a whole ton, and that's not enough to make up the gap everywhere else.
      But the team has zero cohesion right now. I suspect if you just gathered up all the best American players on the Rapids and sent them out there, they wouldn't be noticeably worse than this USMNT because at least they'd know how to play with one another.

    Shaka's comments on talent level is simply incorrect. Defensively, we've got two ligue-1 centerbacks and one that plays for celtic as our rb, along with alphonso davies. In the midfield, we've got a OM Marsielle talent in Kone and Eustaqio who plays for Porto. We've also got David and Larin both playing for mid-table to top 6 teams in their respective leagues in Europe. The talent level is there and is most definitely in competition with the US.

    I get that americans have a ton of talent and on paper and transfermarket it is true that they have the most talented team. But in two years I think Canada will have the best forward in David, the best midfielder in Kone and the best defender in bombito. Moise Bombito is the big one, dude is still so raw but has the talent to be a world class CB given enough seasoning, his speed and athleticism is off the charts. Despite the loss in the semi finals in Copa America, the argentinian midfield had issues with ismail kone, kid sliced through one of the best midfields in the world like hot knife through butter. The spine of the field will likely be dominated by Canada and we have that guys named Davies and Buchanan flying up and down the wings. Realistically these two teams are going to be neck and neck for a decade. My only regret is that these two teams won't have everyone who is eligible playing for them, imagine if Fikayo Tomori played for Canada and I am sure the US lost many eligible players too. Concacaf will be owned by these two teams.

    What worked for Canada is that Marsch had a system in place that involved a high press while the US lacked any style or any clue how to work around it. Had Canada been more clinical, it could've been 4-0 before the US could score that off-side goal (there wasn't any VAR in this game) and Canada had to deal with a lot of injuries in this window with Buchanan, Kone and Bair getting injured before this window and now Johntson and Cornelius might not be fit for the game against Mexico.

    We need to run a 4-2-3-1. Either Koachin or Shulte as the Keeper. Wiley as the LB, Trusty as the LCB, Richards as the RCB, and Musah as the RB. In the midfield run a dual pivot with Cardoso as the 6, De Le Torre as the 8 and Tillman as the 10. In the attack we have Haji as a LW, Pulisic as a RW and Balogun as the 9. Depending on the lead we switch to a 5-3-2 sometime from minute 45-60 sending in Sargent for either Haji or Balo as a dual 9, Mckennzie in for Pulisic or Tillman, Marlon Fossey in as a RWB for Musah or De Le Torre. We can eventually sun in Morris as for Johnny and only sun Aaronson in as an 8.

    Keller nailed it. These players are only looking to get on Euro teams in order to say "I play for XXX in Europe" - however "play" means on the bench. But they hope the team's name translates to a bigger team name willing to pay them more - even if it's to be a backup on the bench. Meanwhile they get no minutes, which means no In-Game development, no In-Game experience, and no In-Game form. But if these players would have aimed for mid-tier teams in Europe, where their play would actually be valued and used - it would be better for their overall development. For example, if it's a mid-tier team in the Premier League, they would be playing major minutes - which means development and experience (and accountability to keep performing at that level). It means they also get exposure to playing against other team, which also includes the bigger Premier teams (and eyes will be watching). It means they get to be a part of a club's rebuild, or journey to improve, or chase to make it to the playoffs - because being a genuine contributor and being part of something also develops character, spirit, grit, and most importantly...., confidence. Everything Keller said is spot on. It's the near equivalent of "embellishing" on your resume, in order to look like you have more skill and experience then you really do, in order to qualify for the job. But then you get the job, and your hiring managers and company see you really don't have anything you said you did on paper (or at very very low levels). So you end up getting "benched" (aka. demoted, or moved to some other division/dept, or point blank fired).

Canadian players in Europe in top leagues - Bayern Munich (Bundesliga starting 11), Celtic (Premiership starting 11), Porto Liga Portugal (starting 11), Inter Milan (Serie A), Lille (Ligue One) (starting 11), Marseilles (Ligue One), Mallorca (La Liga), Nice (Ligue One)...i would suspect that it will only be a matter of time before Shaffelburg heads to Europe the way he is showing up...if Canada gets a little more depth, they would probably be on par with a team like Austria, Turkey or perhaps even Switzerland (at the higher end of the scale). Definitely Canada is the best team in Concacaf right now...they came within a hair of beating Uruguay (should have won and outplayed Uruguay when Uruguay had a full squad) and tied France prior (even with Mbappe playing)
