- Can you believe it's been 40 years since the inception of our beloved Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles??? In this video, I'm unboxing and reviewing all 4 of the brand new Playmates 40th Anniversary TMNT Original Sketch Action Figures. These figures are heavily influenced by the original sketch drawn up by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird.

Can’t wait to find these!
Happy Hunting my friend!!!
Eastman & Laird will be proud 😊
Most definitely!
Thanks! I love these guys. It looks like they matched each character’s accessories and clothes to the sketch really well.
I like how weird these are, and they’re on sale right now too! Thanks for the dpci number, that’s how I was able to get them at my store. Since these have wrist swivels they’re already better than the original comic turtles playmates released several years ago.
I’m happy they came out with these for the peeps that want them.
Can’t wait to get mine! Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
These are Heeeellllla dope. I really would love to know the sales numbers on these although they might of suffered sales wise heavily due to Neca's renditions.
For the price point, these are a great value and anyone and everyone can afford them.
I just got mine and came here to see if I'm opening them. Thanks for the detailed unboxing.
Thanks for tuning in! So, are you gonna crack em all open?
man thank you so much for the dcpi number, went hutning and it took several store visits but i actually managed to get them! first time hunting toys down instead of resigning to the reign of scalpers. thanks again!
Awesome bro! Thanks for watching!
Do you remember what aisle they were in? Toy section or electronics/toy section?
@@moogle_k i talked to an employee and gave them all the number provided at the beginning of this video. I assume theyd be in either the toy section or the collectors corner that target has.
Nice! Appreciate the review! Unfortunately for me, the nearest Targets aren’t conveniently close enough to expect much luck when getting to go few and far between.
Looks like your Donnie and Mikey’s right upper arms are flipped backwards!
Thanks for watching! Well I hope you find them soon, should be officially on shelves starting June 2. Yeah I noticed their shoulders look weirdly oriented but they just need to be rotated around 180 degrees and then articulate back down,if that makes any sense lol
Hey man, really appreciate the video, these look great despite the flaws.
Not that familiar eith your channel but if you don't have them the knock off NECA mirage turtles are a great buy.
Thanks for watching! And yes, I do have the KO NECA Mirage turtles that came in plastic cylinder pkging. I got them from Aliexpress for like $45.
I think it would have been cool if each comic cover had the respective turtle colorized on their own cover
In the original sketch, for ninja turtles. They taped the numb chucks to the turtles forearm. Because they thought originally turtles don’t have hands.
Coool i want these
Very nice video, these are brilliant, Waiting on my pre order to arrive in UK :)
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
It is such a playmates move to not give these hip articulation. So close to being great.
Yeah looks like it lol but being that their size is bulkier than usual Playmates turtles, makes sense as to why it doesn't have much articulation at the hips 🤷🏻
I don't even know how good that would look because of the shells.
@andytrevino4077 yeah, I watched another review and it seems they can do the splits if articulated correctly. It's awkward but it is there which is a plus
Broski, for Leo cross his swords, make an X, thats why they are diff depths.
Ahh ok, thanks for the tip!
Picked up a set of these today from my local Target, to my surprise they rang up on sale at $10.49 each. For those that paid $15 you may want to go get a price change.
HOLY GUACAMOLE!!!
Do you remember what aisle they were in? Toy section or the electronics/toy section?
@@moogle_k They will be in the toy section with the other Playmates TMNT. Target has scheduled these to be put out on June 2nd. You have to ask an employee to get them out of the stock room.
@@joecaramello4310 OH nice! Thanks, I didn't ask anyone so that's where I messed up. Thanks for the on shelf date and extra info!
same!
$10.49 from target, they were on the shelf next to the mutant mayhem turtles
I just got Leonardo, Donatello and Raphael but I couldn’t find Michelangelo unfortunately
Awww dangit
@@Avionyx I know right 😞
hey! can you open them without damaging the boxes? just ordered them and I wanna put them together, but I might wanna display them inside the boxes later
Totally, these boxes have the standard flaps with a piece of tape keeping them closed. I still have my boxes with the plastic blisters inside.
These are freakin' rad!
First sketch version EVER!
@Avionyx Do you know if the drawings that the Mondo Eastman 1st Turtle and/or the Bottleneck Gallery Ish Laird 1st Turtles are based on came before this sketch or not? I'm not sure but those might technically predate these. Either way, excited to find these guys!
I'm not sure about that sir
What’s the DPCI number for? I’m new to this lol what do I do with it
That's the proprietary # Target uses. Give them that # for stock check.
Is there a way to know which target has these figures, and if so how do I go about getting them by using the dpci?
Great video by the way.
Thanks for watching and yes! It was the electronics person I asked to look up the DPCI# and if they had any, she said she had 4 (1 case, they all share the same DPCI #) I also asked her to see which other Targets here in Las Vegas have them in stock, she looked on her Target device to let me know 3 other Targets had them. I told my other local friends the Intel.
@@Avionyx alright cool, thanks for the info bro, again loved the video .
@@Avionyxwhere do you find that dpci number?
It's the first thing that shows in this video, it's also written in the video description.
I wish they had released them wearing all red like the original art.
I could be wrong, but I believe Eastman and Laird's all red bandana look came later on in time... After this original sketch. If anything, these original sketch turtles should've been all primarily white with black pen lines, but Playmates probably thought no one would buy them in that aesthetic so they painted them like the vintage 1987/1988 toy colors.
@@AvionyxI’m 99% sure that you are incorrect. The colored bandanas came later because playmates thought no one would buy them if they all were the same(like you said). After this sketch Peter and laird started on issue one, where there were only red bandanas. Also the tv show was the first version of the colored bandanas so children would buy the different figures.(The figures probably have all colored bandanas because why not? Idk. But I think the bandanas should’ve been all red.But I bet you’re right in saying that no one would buy them in only black and white)
Awesome, thanks for the clarification!
@maxanddabois4931 I think he was saying the sketch was black & white so the red bandanas did technically come later in time. I don't think the intention was to say the red bandanas came after the colored bandanas. Knowing Playmates, we could see a repaint of full black & white turtles or b&w with red bandanas or full green with red bandanas. They've been reissuing their Mirage Turtles from the 2012 line on new cardbacks, green with red bandanas, but they've also done a box set of those figures in the past in full b&w. My guess is they went with the original Playmates colors with these for normie recognition purposes & as a throwback to the original toy line.
Do you know when these are supposed to put put out on shelves?
June 2, but they are not street dated nor are they price locked.
All white with sketch lines please🤞
Are they in stores all over the US?
They should be hitting Target stores, not sure if they are Target exclusive though.
Found them!!!! On sale for 10.49!!!!!!!
Sweeeet! Good to know the sale is still active!
How do you find them
Use the Target DPCI number I display on the screen at the very beginning, have a Target employee look the number up.
found a case this past Tuesday
Cowabunga!!!
Adding to other comments about the differences in turtles, the kneepads were originally only on Leo, so this is accurate.
They look cool, but I do wish they were all red headbands and weren’t hollow.
Thanks for the input!
These are kinda disappointing. Hollow feet, minimal articulation. Raph has a sword, Mikey no belt. Colored bandannas instead of all red. Meh.
Yeah the hollow feet remind me of the 12" mutant mayhem figures.
@@Avionyxthank you for reviewing them. Saved me a little cash.
No problem!
Raph has sai too though
They are fine
