It was only after 3 ayuausca ceremonies that I believed with certainty that there is a divine source and that divine source is ultimately good and wants to guide us to our higher self. Believing that nothing matters in the end breeds contempt for the lack of purpose you feel. Believing you have free will gives you a sense of purpose. I think believing in the former is easier though, because it's more tempting to believe that the mess you are in was always going to end up like that, rather than admitting to the fact that you made bad choices in life.

Both of you have a good point, he does have a facade we sometimes have to use ourselves, but at the same time that I understand Patrick's frustration of Paul being better than him in any aspect while being a dickhead towards his peers, he does act very childish towards these feelings.
