There's a nice coffee shop in Jetyod Road directly opposite the Wangcome Inn. There's a pretty good Thai restaurant next to it, too.
Wat Huay Pla Kang is the least talked about but most impressive of the Chiang Tai temples imo

You should get a GPS. Especially since you like the wilderness, You can park your scooter, set that location as a way point. Your GPS will show you the way back.

Yes, I think so. But they are not as frequent.

A passport should be enough.

Renters will probably let you rent the bike, but if Thai police stop you you’ll be fined if you don’t have motorbike license and insurance will not cover you if you get into an accident without license.

Great video, but many of the people up there are incredibly racist. I was refused entry into two shops, and I was told people do not like Muslims there.
