I've been looking for a video like this, no one explains and shows you exactly how to do it, you did a great job now I can get my gun cleaned. Thank you
I have around 1000 rounds of shells through this mossberg and was always intimidated about stripping it down due to never have been properly shown how. Your video has now taught my son and I to easily disassemble and reassemble this weapons and has now made me like my shotgun all over again.
This video was the best disassemble and reassemble video for the Mossberg 500. Watched 4 videos and 3 of those forgot to include vital steps in the process or just wouldn’t show the video of it. Thank you for your service sir
Just followed the video instruction on my own Mossberg 500 cause something was up with the safety, i feel a great sense of satisfaction of disassembling and reassembling my shotgun. Quick, to the point and informative. Thanks buddy.
i am barley getting into firearms, i bought a mossberg 500 for home protection and I must say that this information is going to be very helpful when it comes to maintaining my firearms and equipment
Thank you for this. I’ve had my Mossberg 500 for years. It’s a youth model that all 7 of my kids used for duck hunting. It is the most annoyingly difficult gun to clean. Your video did a great job of showing me how to put it back together.
@@TheGreatAmericanOutdoorsmen Props to you on this. I've had a Mossberg 500 for years now and this is the way to do it! :) I've shot trap/skeet and have a riot barrel for home defense.. just a superior weapon that is easy to breakdown and about as dependable as it ever gets.
First I'd like to say that I'm really impressed that you have used the correct nomenclature for every part throughout this video. OUTSTANDING! So many people who produce content like this are just making up names more often than not. However, a couple of points I'd like to make is that the First Step and Last Step of every procedure with a firearm should be to CLEAR the firearm. Clear before disassembly and after reassembly. Clear before a Function Check and after the function check. Safety comes first and last. Also, you didn't test your safety on the function check, and a full function check would include the use of dummy rounds to insure that the cartridge stop and interrupter are both working as well as the elevator, extractors and ejector.
I appreciate the feedback! Wish I had some dummy rounds when I made these videos, that’s a good idea. You’re not the first person to mention “clearing”. I’m always trying to find the middle ground between over-explanation and too little info. I think I will add a clearing portion to any future disassembly videos. Thanks for watching!
I just broke my firearm into pieces, and when I put it back together, I immediately need to "clear" it? I'm all for safety but unless a round magically found it's way into the chamber during assembly there is absolutely no reason to clear on reassembly 😂
this is the best video bro, I loved the camera angles and explanation, I came here because I couldnt install the cartridge stop I was following another video instructions and the guy had the bolt and bolt slide all the way back and it didnt fit hahah with your video it took me less than 5 minutes to reassemble my mossberg, thank you
I am always amazed when I successfully re-assemble a Mossberg. It's like playing a game of reverse Jenga. This video will be a huge asset for me. Thanks.

Best video I've seen on the breakdown of the Mossberg 500/590 including naming the parts. Long story short a buddy borrowed mine but had to give it back to me disassembled after a few months. @TheGreatAmericanOutdoorsmen Good news, bad news scenario. The parts are readily available but mine is a Marinecote tactical and I don't think those parts are available in the Marinecote finish anymore. I'll call Mossberg to find out.
@brandonbanark9370 I couldn't find the Marinecote parts on Mossberg's site so I ordered regular ones from Midwest Gun Works (MGW). First time I ever dealt with them and they were great. I was still determined to get the Marinecote finish parts so I called Mossberg. Turns out you have to call for the Marinecote parts. They had one in stock and they were waiting for restock of the other part which they might have by now. Hope this helps.
Had a problem with mine. Once you would work the action to load the next shell, it would dump the magazine. Took it apart, went to reassemble and the trigger group DID NOT want to go back in without a getting rough with it. Pulled it back apart and inspected.... the interrupter was bent from Mossberg. Straightened it out, reassembled, and the trigger group went in nicely. Now it feeds one at a time just as intended. Thanks for the video. It was very helpful.
@@TheGreatAmericanOutdoorsmen , it was bowed in the middle. It was bent so that each end was toward the receiver wall keeping it from being able to work with the action.

Basically, a few years back, I got my Dad a quite basic 590 for "Home Defense" ... the idea was that he had a basic, dead-nuts reliable firearm with 6-7 rounds of 12ga. 00 Buck in an emergency (which, unless you're some big-shot getting your shit invaded by mercenaries, should be enough...) - and a year or so later, I bought him a flashlight fore-end for it ... and the fore-end wasn't up to spec, and wouldn't install properly... but the instructions had me disassembling the entire firearm (which wasn't at all necessary, but he's big on Following The Instructions etc.) - and when I finally said, "Fuck this, this isn't going to work, let's just put it back together, it's a perfectly-good shotgun without the light..." ... it would NOT FUCKIN REINSTALL... I just *COULD NOT* get it back together. Embarrassing. I'd try for hours, get mad, throw it in a corner, forget about it for a few months. Try again one day, same, etc. - And then I realized, I was only using the Brownell's video for reference. I watched yours and had it back together in 5 minutes.
