Had my first play of this 1822 against some experienced 1822 players and won. Giving the credit to this teach video
At the 1:10:00 mark, there is a discussion of minor company acquisition. The example used a minor company with a stock value of Ł270. Rule 5.18.4 says the value of that minor company is Ł540, so the purchase price should be 2 shares @ 150 + 240; or 1 share @ 150 + 390; or 0 shares + 540.
my group are getting together this coming Sunday to play one of the smaller scenarios for this. having previously played 1830 and 1861, I'm extremely excited to finally get this off my shelf!
At the 1:00:00 mark, there is a discussion of paying out with a 2P. Rule 5.14.2 clearly says that a payout on a 2P will prevent the company from moving back, and can actually make the company move forward or even double jump, if it is high enough.
Great teaching video guys.
Well explained gentlemen.
I wish they'd used the historic railway logos rather than the odd shields though.
Dudes, I understand NOTHING. Can you maybe point me to some game in the series to be a good one to start with? Cheers

18Chesapeake is out now, so check that out if you can.
The best intro these days is the "18xx with Ambie" series of videos from Ambie Valdés: ruclips.net/p/PLOlRvTbmD6tJCzjOr2XGEwFMll79J58zv
And Scott Nicholson's 2009 video continues to be relevant: ruclips.net/video/MM3jFVJVe_w/видео.html
Hertford is pronounced Hart-Fud :)
See, we are just terrible at international names. And the UK names are just impossible. lol. Thanks for watching and the chuckle this morning, Daniel!
It’s really jarring to watch this and hear someone casually throw in the phrase “rape and dump”. Use better language as a group of people trying to grow a community.
Thanks for watching Jacob. We appreciate the feedback.
Hilarious :)
rape [ reyp ]
verb (used with object), raped, rap·ing
to plunder (a place); despoil:
"The logging operation raped a wide tract of forest without regard for the environmental impact of their harvesting practices."
ORIGIN OF RAPE1
1250-1300; (v.) Middle English rapen < Anglo-French raper < Latin rapere to seize, carry off by force, plunder; (noun) Middle English < Anglo-French ra(a)p(e), derivative of raper
@@derekmcdude In that case, plunder, despoil, or just a simple rob will suffice.
