How do you deal with the shipping cost. I bought $279 worth of yarn and they charged me $129 to ship it.

@@SecretYarnery Thanks. Right now I have $356 worth of yarn in my cart and my shipping cost is $194. The teacher in my says "oh boy". The crocheter in me says "suck it up"
Christa... if you take those bags the yarns are bundled in, and cut it just right.... you can crochet tote bags with it. You can either start at one of the open ends and "spiral" cut it all the way to the bottom in a semi-even width, OR cut straight across it in even sized width to make big "loops", then just lock the loops together. Do this by pulling one loop through another, then back through itself (kind of like a chain stitch). This WILL put tiny knots at the join of each loop, but if you are making a tote you won't really notice them. Don't forget folks... acrylic yarn is just **basically** recycled plastic.

This video made me so happy. My idea of heaven! I love the sound of the packs being undone (strange, I know!) and it's lovely to see all of the different yarns and colourways. I love the Magic Glitz and the Twister as well. I wish the shipping to the UK wasn't so much though. Thanks for a fantastic video.

That is a yarn haul!! One thing that Ice Yarn has on the website is under each yarn thumbnail there is listed the ingredients of the yarn. I have allergic reaction to wool, so at other yarn sites I have to look at the yarn, then check if it has wool in it. If it does, then I have to go back to main page and try again. Someday I hope to order Ice Yarn. Love the unboxing of the yarn.
I'm new at crocheting and I don't understand what DK is when you talk about the yarn. Could you please explain and why is it your favorite? Thank you for teaching us newbies.
Wowza!!! I absolutely LOVED seeing you unpacking all of your yarn! I got emotional as it all started getting unpacked & seeing all of that yarnie deliciousness, which is a common reaction for me when I see beautiful yarn! The Gelato looks totally awesome & the Magic Spray looks beautiful too & so does Cakes DK & so does.... & so does!!! Yep it's all totally gorgeous! Thanks for sharing it with us, Christa! Thankfully the yarn that stunk at the start had wool in it so I wouldn't be able to use them anyway due to my wool allergies! It's expensive, but it arrives at your door in 3 days. I basically just factor it into the price of the yarn. Take the price of the yarn and double it - it's usually still a pretty decent price.

Looking at the Gelato yarn, growing up, I would take triangle shawls and wrap them around my hips and tie on the other hip, or just slightly to the front. It was a throwback to the 1920s. Thought you may like the idea.

What a beautiful yarn haul yet again. There are lots more different yarns. I have recently had a delivery from ice yarns I to like saver but this time I ordered a dk yarn called Bonito it’s 50% Wool 50% Acrylic and it’s absolutely beautiful to crochet with. I’ve yarns really have the best yarn.
Oh, I just loooooove your unboxings!!! I'm just wondering - does Ice deliver to Kenya? In the US, 3-day shipping from Ice is about equivalent, or a little less than the price of the yarn, so it doesn't seem like a freight forwarder would save anything. (But we don't really pay import duties either - only on shipments worth over $800.

@@Gotjava Both can ship directly to me, but customs can take AGES! Once my Ice yarns was stuck for 46 days! So using a freight forwarder is faster because they clear customs for me, AND deliver to my door. :)

I calculate the cost of the yarns from Ice Yarns in the same way and never pay more than $3.5 per 100gr, even with their hand dyed yarns.
Christa, the Saver came out double, because it is 200g a ball. It's still around the $3 mark per 100g.

I love the Gelato in the orange and pinks. I think that it would make a lovely loosely crocheted tunic with bell sleeves, a key hole neck line and side vents. For the polyester tape in shades of blue and green that you opened early on: why not make a double crocheted boat neck tank top edged all around with I-cord.

Some beautiful yarns and I'm in britain yarn is expensive so I buy from charity shops to make my pet blankets for local animal rescue (blue cross)
And the quality of yarn is really going down, has anyone else noticed that?

118 pounds! One thing Ice Yarns does super well, and that is color. They are not dull, or muted. They are bright and lush. I love that. I can see why you bought all the colors. I can't wait to see them all crochet up.

In Turkish the 'c' in Gonca is pronouced similar the 'j' when you say James. Gonja is how it should sound like. However I love it when you say Gonka :). Gonca means rosebud.

I think you'd have fun doing a temperature blanket for the year you were born, and the place you were born? Yeah, fun times. lol
I do the math in a similar fashion but go more by how much per ball to get it to my door in the US, but also compare yardages, etc. A 200 gram, 364 yard ball of Red Heart is up to $3.77 now. If you throw 4 packs of twister from ice yarns in your cart, the cost is $19.96 and the shipping is $24.95. Add it up and divide by the 16 balls of yarn you're getting and it's only $2.81 each for a decent 328 yard, 100 gram, DK weight ball of yarn to the US in my state. Feels good to fill the shelves back up doesn't it? Get those holes filled.
I would find it interesting for you to make a swatch of the cakes glitz and it's "sister", which you said was the same colorway, but the color change was longer. A swatch might show us exactly what you mean. Even if it's the same patter, like a C2C, but done in each yarn. I don't know, I was just thinking of interesting video segments for your podcast/chat. I'm sure there's other comparable yarns too.
Is there a "solid" in Premium Acrylic ... to go with Harmony?? Or one that has the "feel" of Harmony, even if it's not "Premium"? That is also the same weight??
Magic light i made a poncho with it about 4yrs ago, the pink, blue and greys, my son calls it the trans colours coz of there flag. Found some1 on fb selling it cheap at the time, coz i can not afford a psck of these, let alone 3boxes lol. So jel ❤

Hi I always watch your tutorial I am if you can this I find most persons crochet tutorials when they have to do blankets it tells you the sizes and the crochet chains to begin making a baby blanket but a fine when it comes making a full-size adult blanket everybody goes into swatches reform wants to do different size blankets are there a diagram or a list of crochet chains do start different sizes of blankets

I have learned to stay with the name brand yarn that I have used. I order some yarn from Amazon. It took a while for me to get it, and I saw first- hand the reason for it. The only words I could read were; MILLK COTTON and I recognized a spotted cow. I will NEVER order it again! Of course you will find some knots in the yarn. I found myself trying to crochet over more knots that I care to count, not in just one package.

And the letter O, should be spelled as saying the letter O while counting the English alphabet, and the C letter in it should be spelled like the letter G while counting the alphabet. Google translate it from Turkish to English, and the speaker icon under the Turkish side will spell it correctly for you :)

Christa, I just started a blanket project with Saver yarn and noticed some of the skeins, depending on the color, are softer, others are rough. Have you noticed this inconsistency? If so, might you know why there is a difference ? Thank you.

this was so fun to watch. i think i also watched the one from last year as well. i did finally order from ice yarns. i dont have much room so i buy yarn for each project. I bought felting yarn 5 weight and giza cotton 3 weight. i just divided the total to how ever many skeins I had instead of weight but still only average 2.50 USD per skein. The felting yarn was ok, some places were too thin and then too thick but it was really soft. The giza cotton has amazing drape not as sheen as a pima cotton but for the price its definitely good for wearables.
