I got the Active VE52 based on his previous video about it. I was angry when it failed after 8 uses! I looked up negative reviews and found a fair amount of people having the unit fail after a few washes. I contacted Active and they told me to send a video of it/pics, I did and they immediately sent me a NEW unit. My new unit is 7 months in and running strong. When this one fails I will definitely pick up this new active pressure washer because they stand behind their product and didnt leave me hanging or have me send it back to repair it with parts, they sent me a new unit! very satisfied.
That's the mark of a good manufacturer. We are a distributor of a German boiler manufacturer, when they entered the UK market it was a bit of a disaster, their initial model had 2 parts that would fail reliably. They paid for every single one to be retrofitted with revised parts, and the subsequent models fixed the problem, they have now been easily the best product on the market for 12 years.
Had the same thing and reached out to active explaining what was going on and that I tried everything they suggested and still no luck. Made me not go with active again
Very rare, if not unheard of, a president of a company re-engineering one of their products because a retailer thought it could be better. Kudos to James' and Matt's business relationship which turns out to be a win-win-win for all of us. I have an older CAT version of the VE52 and has been working flawlessly. This 2.0 version will be GREAT according to these numbers!
After watching the first 16 minutes of this. I paused the video and went web surfing and ordered one. This video just cost me over $500 with all the extras I had to have 🤪😂. This has got to be the most brutally honest review on RUclips
As soon as I expanded the description, opened up the tab to the OG site and saw it as available for preorder, I snatched my wallet and made an order. You guys saved me a bunch as I was thinking about getting the AR630. The new Active 2.0 puts out similar numbers at less than half the cost and amperage of the AR630 and that’s a mega win in my book. Sure, the AR630 is targeted at prosumers/professionals and is serviceable. But for me, I’d buy 3 of these 2.0 before a single 630. If or when James and the Active team make a serviceable version of this 2.0 at slightly better numbers all while barely touching 15 amps, $800+ for that model is easily justifiable to me.
James seems like such a legit honest guy. the 2.0 looks like an amazing machine I have the VE52, but I'm preordering this (ULTIMATE PACKAGE) let's goooo
HUGE Kudos to Active. This machine is checking ALOT of boxes, performance, price point and it aesthetically looks great. For a company to work together on developing a product to 'OG specs" I'm loving it. This is going to take off and you will see all the competitors going to try and imitate. But I believe OG/Active really displayed why they developed a loyal customer base. Keep on doing what you're doing.
This is super exciting to watch. For a lot of us we have needed something right in the middle and this one actually ends up on the higher end of the spectrum without breaking the bank. I will definitely be pulling the trigger on one of these and thank you obsessed garage/active for showing us this game changing machine
This is the type of content that I love and appreciate. James was the key to this successful video due to his knowledge and honesty. This is a type of unit that I would purchase. Great job gentleman. 👏
This is what's awesome about Matt, he PERSONALLY test the pressure washer unit himself to have the most accurate readings, trust no one except himself. He doesn't have to, his employees could've done it. Hates off to you sir, I will totally be ordering more from Obsessed Garage once they have a warehouse in Canada. Kind regards from Toronto, Canada
I have been following the development of this unit for a while and knew that the 2.0 was going to be good but as an engineer, it surpassed every expectation. This is very good, the performance at this price point is just unmatched. I am glad they offer the option of ordering it as a barebones unit for users to spec it to perfection.
I'm not a big fan of Matt's long videos, but I'm so glad they exist. I've been trying to figure out why my current PW is having issues and what should I replace it with. 4. Minutes in, i ordered an Active 2.0. I'm so glad that this channel exists and we detailers can get in depth info about the product fron the manufacturer. Thanks Matt for creating this channel.
My Active VE52 died today (June 2023). Loved it and hit 65hrs and it finally LOCKED 🔒 I used a 50ft hose which contributed to a shorter lifespan. So, I just ordered the 2.0………high hopes. Appreciate the OG video and transparency of Active!
Firstly, what a quality person James is. Your a decent guy too Matt. I have the V52 as well as the 630 AR. (Two different homes) Even on the V52 I have had great luck with car washing, but also running turbo nozzles as well as Floor Surface Cleaner attachments designed for up 2300 psi. I did buy the V52 from you Matt, and when the V52 shows signs of wear I step up and buy the 2.0. This is the way things should be designed and partnered. Good stuff Gents. Dave
As someone who owns an 20 amp AR machine in a residential environment, had this been available when I was ordering my setup it would have been very hard to pass up. If Active puts out a user serviceable unit with replacement parts and the solid after sell support they have in the past that would be the ultimate package.
I had the exact issue he described! And it was a less than 24hr process to get a brand new unit after contacting OG. Matt described them as an "Elite Manufacturer" and I'd have to say that's true based on my experience!! I'd be thrilled to update to this unit some day.
I blew my shoulder out 20 years ago... I've purchase a number of gas powered (2300psi) units over the years, they get harder to start over time and my shoulder simply can not handle more than 5 or 6 pulls. Last year I purchased an electric start 3100 psi/2.5 GPM Generac 7132 and it has worked fine, but there is a recall on the unit and I am thinking of returning it completely due to the hassles (there is a newer model, but doesn't seem to be available yet in Canada). I use it mostly a few times a year to clean my composite deck (using a rotating/helicopter surface clearer - takes about 30 minutes) and for my ~100ft interlock driveway a couple times of year. I would use it more, like cleaning my car, but the noise and mobility is of issue... My gut seems to feel staying with a gas unit is better, but watching this video seem pretty impressive... but it consistently references car cleaning... which would not be may main purpose... is the Active 2.0 a reasonable replacement or should I stick with the Generac (newer model) (or other recommendations)?
Looks like a very promising machine, I would call it a sweet spot for people that actually care about specs. The only thing I was shocked about when I heard was life expectancy of all newer machines, 300 hours avg? I bought used Karcher K5.55M 10 years ago for my dad's garage and he uses it like every other day for 45 minutes from the day I got it and what a beast of machine, yeah it's bulky and a bit on a loud side but not a single hiccup for all these years. Older machines may not be attractive as newer ones but they are really quality made.
Damn insane numbers...I've been following Active for awhile and I love my VE52...not a single issue so far. Damn I can't wait to get the Active 2.0...it outperforms the Kranzle by a mile
Once my gas pressure washer dies, I'll definitely look at something like this... Appreciate the honesty in the video, not something you normally get in product testing.
I can't wait to get mine. Currently using a Portland from Harbor freight and it does get the job done, but...... this one is going to be sooooo much better! Great job guys. Kudos to James and his design team for making this happen.
I wished I would have waited cause of the pump. I had so much trouble with getting 90 degree fitting to not leak on my shelf mounted pressure washer. Glad to see your making this product better. Thanks to you both. Matt you and your team are a perfect match for me as an ocd “Diyer”
Another great product video from both of you! nice to see James show casing his new pump! I personally am most interest in the foam canon part. My last two pressure washers kinda sucked for good thick foam! Thanks Again
Great video...very informational. James was visibly uncomfortable when Matt tested different sized nozzles. Probably because doing so would damage the machine longer term. When asked about extending the life of the unit, James demurred. Any case, Matt is a great story...building OG and creating something real. Keep up the good work. First time watcher here.
for James from Active! you did a great job to change the market and change the retail of pressure washer! this is the new standard! Here in canada you should know that Simoniz has a Bad name in the pressure washer industry and as i know nobody knows about the Simoniz 1800/VE 52... actually the best machine in canada! but now with the 2.0 you should push it more with Simoniz and change there way of thinking! the 2.0 should be pushed as the BEST Simoniz machine since its going to be and that will move any other pressure washer retailer to change there way of boosting back pressure for bigger specs!
Finally, was so waiting for this one. Man, James and active made a big hit with this one, after already a big success with V52. Pure honesty from James, honoring what Matt has done and being straight out, no bs. I was thinking AR630, but I think I found my next replacement, basically more flow, better performance From what we see here and drawing less voltage. Amazing numbers, no plastic fittings, and looks awesome wall mounted. Great stuff as always Matt and OG crew, and thanks to James for an amazing product. Matt, does OG has any plans on getting the new active guns?
That look on James face for a second was just " Oh god what is he trying now?" lol. But it's the art of engineering, anybody can make something strong, but it's the art of engineering to put in as little as possible to maintain that strength
I have the Simoniz one I picked up the spring from Canadian tire mine works great I use it every weekend that’s it that’s on the weekend warrior and when it goes I’m looking forward to the new 2.0 and I think this is one of your best video
I've used the CAT version of the Active unit... save exact washer it's been used daily for a yr for 3 auto details a day so I have close to 300 hrs on it..I did have to change the gfci but that's all. so I will definitely be getting this from you when my one fails.
I feel like this is one of the best pressure washer videos I've ever watched...... James 💯 and Matt your awesome 👌🏽 soon as this hits Canada 🇨🇦 I'm getting one
Great video and can’t wait for this pressure washer. Question…the deionizer bypass system behind you in this video….how did you build this? Is that pvc pipes? Any info or links would be much appreciated! Thanks!
I pre ordered the active 2.0. Performance looks good, although I do like the sound of that 240v induction prototype. I have an outlet right below my panel in the garage that would be easy to make 240 20a or upgrade the wire for 30a since it's a 2ft run, it once was a 240v 20a before I converted it to 120v 20a.
Great Video! Current excited about getting into my new home come August. And then getting everything out of storage and finally returning to foaming. Starting with getting a quieter unit than my Costco Gas Pressure Washer purchased in 2016. It will be the 2.0. Matt, most everything I have I purchased from you to include Stainless Steel Fittings. What Orifice size will I need in my 2 MTM Foam Cannon
One reason the Active can "ramp up" in GPM whereas the Kranzle appears to be stuck is due to the universal vs induction motor. An induction's absolute max rpm is 1800 at 0 load, and roughly 1700 under load (or 3600 and 3400). Let's say you had an orifice that did 2.0 GPM @ 1200 psi @ 1700 rpm, even if you doubled the orifice, the motor can only spin to 1800, where the pump displaces 2.12 gpm @ essentially 0 psi. Hence why the Kranzle has a narrow sweet spot. A universal can keep spinning faster with lower load (+ orifice), with psi dropping slightly but gradually due to back EMF reducing motor torque.
Awesome video. I’m just a dumb homeowner! Would the active be a pressure be good for around the house? Siding, patio, car etc? Or should I get a Greenworks like the 2300 or karcher 1700? For example. Thank you!
I really like my AR630 I purchased for my garage! My thoughts for the active 2.0 is that it will be a perfect setup for a on board washing solution in my new fifth-wheel toy hauler! Being able to clean the trailer, truck and sxs wherever I want sounds amazing. For that I will pre order one.
I have the V52 and love it so far. This new one doesn't stop immediately when you release the handle? I made mine to be mounted on the wall with some difficulty. I hope the new one has the option to mount on the wall directly without a shelve. I was wondering for Obsessed garage thank you for your content I have learned a lot from you guys. Just wanted to know if it would be easier to get a bucket with the measurements already on it to measure GPM instead of doing the calculations every time. Seems like a waste of time for you guys. Thanks
Hello Matt - for a home user who enjoys detailing our vehicles, would you still consider this a top option for shelf mounted units? This is for personal use / hobbyist.
Yes, for the price it's quite good. If you can spend a little bit more, I'd opt for an AR630TSS. www.obsessedgarage.com/products/ar-blue-clean-ar630-tss-custom-install-solution
Will be ordering and parting with my Gas Power Washer. Just need to decide if I order the Basic or Advance and use my 2 MTM Foam Cannons with 1.5mm Orifices
The active is not ment for everyday use detailing. This dude even said it. Great design for a home use. Returns were at a massive from detailers over the years of experience from daily use. 💯💪
That thing is badass im buying it as my primary's use i have the ryobi honda gas pressure washer and its just so loud to run i wanna try an electric one like that.
Been very excited about this unit. A OG package to this sounds great. Now how "mobile" is this unit? Can I put it in a box/bag easy to take it out to the alley to wash my car? Or its garage-only?
56:45-57:25 This is the same idea that audio speakers and other audio equipment have. On the box, it will say in big letter “1000w” or whatever. The reality is that 1000 watts is is max wattage, not it’s continuous wattage. The continuous (rms) watts will most likely be half of that number, or less. Rms is the realistic amount of watts your speakers can handle safely and continuously. Manufacturers do this to entice people to buy their products.
Is pump pressure adjustable without switching tips? This light weight machine seems nice with the features it comes with. I do tile and grout cleaning. I Clean between 800-1200 psi depending on tile type (marble, ceramic etc.) Using a surface cleaner which uses two meg nozzles 2.0 ea with my Ar630 or pumptec 1200 2 gpm. I recently picked up the Ar over the Kranzle for the triplex pump, but either choice weighs a ton lugging in and out of homes.
Had my problems when I got mine for my birthday. I only used quick connects and a different sprayer and it started to go out. Contacted them and they sent me a new one. no problems for now. kept the old one because i didn't know if i had to return it but i guess not.
Got a question.. I'm from Canada, so the Simoniz 1800 psi washer is the option available to me (not the Active). If I go buy one today, do they currently still have the potential to end up surging with a 50 ft hose? Or has that issue since been fixed within these older units? Thanks!
Active has revised the VE52 to fix any potential issues with surging. The Active 2.0 also does not surge. We hooked the unit up to our custom install solution with a 100' hose and it performs perfectly. If you want the Active 2.0, head over to our website. It is available to Canadian customers.
I got the Active VE52 based on his previous video about it. I was angry when it failed after 8 uses! Try contacting them to see if you could trade it in on a 2.0.
Had the same thing and reached out to active explaining what was going on and that I tried everything they suggested and still no luck. Made me not go with active again
Really appreciate James’ honesty about what the 2.0 is and what it’s not. Don’t hear a lot of that these days.

When I say this video was over one hour I was like I'll just watch 10min of it"... I just finished the whole thing. 10/10
Fantastic video - love all the high end stuff, but when you are balanced and call out a good value product it really brings it home. Good stuff.
This video explains perfectly why I follow OG. Well done guys!
This is the type of content that I love and appreciate. James was the key to this successful video due to his knowledge and honesty. This is a type of unit that I would purchase. Great job gentleman. 👏

Can’t believe I watched an hour long video about this, but I’m definitely buying one when they drop!

This is very good, the performance at this price point is just unmatched. I am glad they offer the option of ordering it as a barebones unit for users to spec it to perfection.

My Active VE52 died today (June 2023). Loved it and hit 65hrs and it finally LOCKED 🔒
I used a 50ft hose which contributed to a shorter lifespan.
So, I just ordered the 2.0………high hopes.
Appreciate the OG video and transparency of Active!
I’ll be ordering one of these through OG when they’re available. I was leaning towards the AR but this unit definitely exceeded my expectations!
Was going to buy a AR 630 hot but theb found the 2.0 for the price point hard to pass it up

Great company and James is being honest, looking forward to future products that could go up against the best in the game
That little unit is an absolute gamechanger, hell of a job!
I got mine last Friday, just got done with my first wash with it. The best unit I’ve used so far!!
Excellent video! Having the supplier as part of the discussion is a great idea. Excited to have a package with this pump in your store!
Love this. I found the active RUclips channel. Could listen to James talk about this for hours.

Just purchased the 2.0 for my mobile detailing buisness, can't wait for it to come in👍🏻

At 49:49 I like the frustration eye roll 😂😂
53:39 EXACTLY.. even with the v 1 OG was getting higher numbers than most other RUclipsrs and myself.
I guess James had enough of Matt. Rolls his eyes at 49:50 when Matt asks to try a 3.0 🤣🤣🤣🤣
That was some serious eye roll
I saw that too lol, Matt really making James uncomfortable

Being able to rebuild or just replace the pump, i think as a mechanic would be great. Hopefully at some point they will make that available 🙏
$335 with Hex membership pre-ordered done!!!!
Great tests very impressive looking forward to purchasing it thanks
this is what im waiting for since you do podcast with James
Tommy pure buzzing away to get the 6.5 lol 😂
Finally. The video I have been waiting for weeks.
Sweet, now I know what to buy when my Greenworks fails.
Whoa. I was about to order the Comet package on the OG website on Sunday. I’ll be going for this Active 2.0.
Yep I’m in. Reserving one now
As soon as I can get my hands on the tool only, I will.
Thanks
I am on preorder, timing should be perfect my Karcher is trying to tap out
Hello Matt - for a home user who enjoys detailing our vehicles, would you still consider this a top option for shelf mounted units? This is for personal use / hobbyist.
Yes, for the price it's quite good. If you can spend a little bit more, I'd opt for an AR630TSS. www.obsessedgarage.com/products/ar-blue-clean-ar630-tss-custom-install-solution
Heck. Yes. I’m excited for this!
Great job guys but pls when are you going to starting producing 240v unit?
I literally just got the VE52 for my birthday!
💯💪
Matt rocking J’s is legendary
Glad to see him happy after this reaction instead of having the reaction of carrot.
Minutes never wasted you are amazing great vidoes
Fanfkntastic
39:55 how excited i am for this PW 😂
That thing is badass im buying it as my primary's use i have the ryobi honda gas pressure washer and its just so loud to run i wanna try an electric one like that.
Love it. Small and quality machine.
Been very excited about this unit. A OG package to this sounds great. Now how "mobile" is this unit? Can I put it in a box/bag easy to take it out to the alley to wash my car? Or its garage-only?
The Active 2.0 has a very small footprint and is very light weight. It is very easy to carry around.

This is the same idea that audio speakers and other audio equipment have.
Matt… the kiiiicks!!! Love em
Hoooleeechit. Offloading my Active VE52 now. Yaayyyeeesss. Buying this ASAP. Take my $ now!
It is not.
