Props to that Paramedic that asked the cop, firmly, to remove himself from the situation and managed the de-escalation himself. My cousin is a Paramedic and he was arrested for doing the same thing at a scene once (charges dropped completely, officer received reprimand). The cop could not fathom that he couldn't call the shots on the EMS side of things.
It definitely seemed like they didn’t have a close working respect though. I’m from the U.K. and all of our shows like this you can see the respect given by police to paramedics/firefighters.

Yeah cops need to understand unless the individual has a weapon or we say that we need them restrained by PD, that EMTs and Paramedics can handle things. They’re not medically trained, and they’re clearly not trained well in de-escalating things.
As soon as the police officers say that it's clear for EMTs to enter they are in control of the victims/suspects. At least that's what it's like here in the Netherlands afaik.

Yeah, that was actually… quite pleasant. They were so nice during that entire encounter, and that guy really seemed like he needed it. I wish encounters like that were more commonplace, but I realize that’s sort of unrealistic when it comes to more violent cases.

i've experienced pepper spray, not directly, but i worked at a detox facility and they sprayed the room and we had to walk through it for our training (so we were prepared). that was bad enough, can imagine how it feels directly in the eyes
I have pepperspray and I'm worried if I ever have to use it, it'll get in my eyes and everyone around me. And then I'll be f*cked
I am an EMR/Firefighter in a small town in Arkansas population of 414. It is hard to keep your skills polished when you only get a call once a month. You might get three in a week then none for three months. Yes! No call is better for the community.

Its amazing how much verbal assaults the EMT and Police go through trying to help someone who is clearly having problems. These men and women are absolutely incredible to do their job everyday to help others who dont cooperate very well.

The cop dealing with the 23yr old man that was tazed...doesn’t need to be a cop. It’s pitiful that the paramedics had to tell him MULTIPLE times to back off, as he was only creating more agitation in what was, at that point, their patient. That displayed so much immaturity and unprofessionalism. He needs a new line of work.
Yes... That cop was making a bad situation worse. That guy wasn't going anywhere so it wasn't necessary for the cop to be standing right on top of things.

@11:00-ish This is how all cops should act. The guy did get P-sprayed in the face by the cops however the cops still helped encourage & help the guy find the strength to hold his eyes open. They treated him like a human who was in a lot of pain & needed a lil extra help.

Dude.. that second clip of the guy who got tased, I am *not* condoning his behaviour (& no idea what led to his arrest either), but if he’s that intoxicated he can’t even feel the barbs in him, & he’s that agitated.. use your bloody common sense (& I’m looking at that 1 cop who was REALLY cocky) & step out of his view point until he’s calmed down ! The police were the ones who called EMS, the guy is aggravated & EMS can’t do their job properly while this cop is insisting on being up his butt within ear shot & saying ‘just search his pockets & grab his wallet’ - Yeh because right now, while they need to check his heart, that’s going to help the situation isn’t it?!
And while the paramedic very kindly & gently asked the officer just to wait outside / step aside as he was the cause of this guys extreme upset, the look that officer gave the paramedic.. lordy! If looks could talk 🥴 I mean really..
It’s cops like that with a ‘holier than thou’ attitude that spoil it for so many. First responders are all meant to work together, & you’re trained to calm the situation down, not escalate it for your amusement.
That just really irked me. Completely unnecessary behaviour from that officer.

edit: I just realised the officer that grabbed his arm isn't the same that was supposedly causing him anger, but nevertheless I saw it as unnecessary because in full he was showing anger to all of pd

The people of the Phoenix, AZ area are incredibly lucky to have so many well trained fire fighters, law officers & paramedics. It makes a huge difference & we need to thank them for their hard work & dedication to duty. Keep in mind, it's easier to just leave you on the side of the road.
I am proud of my EMT brother.

honestly for being pepper sprayed, that guy did great😂 i cant imagine how hard it must be to stand still while your eyes are burning, but to then also allow water to be poured directly onto your eyeball
Funny enough, for me the pain was constant UNLESS I was pouring water directly into my eyes. The only way to stop the skin from burning was to fully submerge my head into water. It affects everybody a little differently.

Curious what police do for their K9's after they draw blood from IV drug users. Are dogs immune to hepatitis etc?
Those aren't zoonotic diseases, (transfer from people to animals & vice versa,) . Stuff like salmonella is. So the dogs should be fine, plus dogs that are used like that are vaccinated for a ton of stuff.

Dogs are often also vaccinated against those diseases.
