I spot that bad pad holding all the time when training as I am also helping my training partners to improve thier pad holding too as I get frustrated from incorrect holding as it had cause discomfort and injury on me too. I get from inexperienced attenders like to slap my fists and kicks a lot because they don't like I have the knowledge base and instruct them not to do that which leads to ego ignorance.
Why is the pad holder moving the pad towards the incoming fist, thus hitting the fist rather than staying still and letting the puncher strike the pad? Although it may be less of a problem when striker is using gloves, many martial arts use bare knuckle striking in which the fist and arms are relaxed until the point of impact. Bashing the striker's fist with the pads results in injury or the striker developing the bad habit of tensing their hands throughout the whole punch resulting in poor speed and timing. Resistance can still be provided without moving the pads.
Shouldn't be slapping or hitting the fist at all injury occurs. I'm a martial artist. And no, none do it bare knuckles where you are wrong. It is safety because hitting bare will lead to broken knuckles and wrists which the hands take up to eight months to recover. I've seen that happen with the fighters in my training dojo. No one fights bare knuckles.
Excellent pad holding video. One of the best have seen and probably looked at 20 in the last couple of days
Much appreciated mate! Have a great day.
Thank you, just picked up some pads for my daughter

David Jewell. You are incorrect . Do a little research to truly understand what you are watching.
And watch the video again. Pay attention to the details. Especially tip # 5, which answers your question.
Seems like you didn't watch video.
