Super important to know for muay thai! As a cocky beginner I didn't pay as much attention to this as I should and ended up in A&E after a knee to the chest skipped through my badly held pads and popped all the cartilage around my sternum - took 11 weeks to recover! (I am now a less cocky beginner!)

You should mention the fact you are holding the thai pads tight toward your body with your elbows in for the body kicks also slightly pinching your elbows together when you give a force back against the kick. Too many people dont do that and end up punching themselves in the face when they get kicked hard.
