Guys, I'm 52 and just won the Technics DMC UK Final and I'm in the World Final in 3 weeks in San Francisco. Age don't mean a thing,. Never give up and have fun. PEACE!!!!
Yeah more Steve :) Loved his streams during Lockdown and the Scratching Course he does on here is top notch, he's a great teacher. So Yeah, more Steve xD
+1 to the singing anthems for changing up the vibe. If you’ve been playing bangers and the crowd is starting to get that deer in headlights stare or damped reaction to the drop, it’s time to stop at whatever BPM you’re at using an echo fade, then start cold from the iconic lyrical verse that gets everyone singing or vibing. Usually throwbacks go over well there as it’s a common ground everyone knows and makes people feel nostalgic for the past.
The people respond to good audio quality and good PA. They may not make a big noise about asking for it, or even mention it, but subliminally they definitely respond.
And regarding what you mentioned about music as something spiritual I complete agree! And on my Facebook profile my fixed post (the first) goes like that: "The highest form of art is music because it is abstract. And, precisely because it is the most abstract art, it is the closest to the absolute, to the divine, to the transcendental."
Great to see the two of you again. The stories are gold. For audio quality producers of music really care and are the worst critics. I see Phil's eating habits haven't changed much :) Great advice on the vinyl repurchasing. For someone restarting who was Djing in the 80's to 2000's is consider putting on nights for those era's. Plenty of those about on the UK I notice. Lots of people are loving reliving their youth but youngsters also discovering the music too.
Ask you anything...ok, here it goes. Acapella, for some reason a few DJs I've listened to seem to drop the vocals on The One of an instrumental track that doesn't always sound synchronized. I hear this quite of with hip hop so, what are the folks doing wrong? My assessment is that even though it is Acapella you still have to count bars and drop it on the right beat. I'd imagine this isn't the easiest thing to do though with acapella unless you are familiar with the song.
Yes they do, and yes it is wrong! It comes from not understanding or caring about musical phrasing. Luckily it is easy to do with acapellas once you know how - but as you say, you need to be familiar with the songs. You should, in our opinion, always be familiar with the music you play when DJing anyway. check out our acapella course! djtips.co/stems
Halloween favourite - Ghostbusters by Wolfgang LOHR & Ashley Slater (Electro Swing Mix) - I particularly enjoy the instrumental version. I’ll also be playing Craig Knight’s remix of ‘Stranger Things’. 👍🏼
i thought you, Phil, had mentioned a program that allows you to edit multiple file imformation at once......if that was you, what was the name of that program??
Dear Phil and Steve, what does give energy to a track a part its speed, therefore the BPMs? Can you have a track that you wish to dance although it has lower BPMs than a classic danceable track with highr BPMs? And could you give me a couple of examples? Thank youuuuu!!!!!
Hi Phil how's things I just had problems using tidal with dj pro this Friday the 13th for sum reason the tidal service lock me out on my ipad to trouble I had logout in the general settings on dj pro on tidal music then I reset it and the go to tidal login and then it worked do you know why that happened I know I need to store sum music on my ipad for back up but that has ever happened..... Also my neural mix works I did update everything and still works.... I wish I could've called you Friday nite jk.....
Hi Phil I've got a Flx 4 and recently the trim knob on deck 1 has became dis-aligned. If it is at the 12 o'clock position on the controller it is at 2 o'clock on my laptop. I have to turn it to the 10 o'clock on the controller for it to be at 12 o'clock on my laptop. I've looked at the settings on Rekordbox but can't find anything. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks, Kane
Hi. I'm a newcomer. I use Traktor and find it impossible to use tracks downloaded from Apple Music. Is that the case for all DJ software? Is there something I'm doing wrong?
You can't play them unless you purchase them. Just adding tracks to your library or downloading then for offline listening doesn't work unless you actually bought the tracks from apple music.

Yes, that approach works on so many levels!
Phil forgot to tell you that I love that you moved from polo shirts to shirts! So much better! Visually I mean... Much more modern... Hugs!!!
Love you guys! Not only for your music and DJ knowledge but also for your life suggestion about our minds and what we can really achieve! ❤😊
Our pleasure!
@@digitaldjtips I speak about Phil and Steve! 😂😂😂
good points about audio quality - 100* agree
Thanks

Can't argue with that!
Hey Steve! Great to see you again. Was a regular listener during your shutdown streams.
Welcome back!
Cheers Russ!

I use Lexicon (Pro Version) for my cloud back-up.
Cool, glad it's working for you
What app do DJs use to create visual content on their mixes?
i thought you, Phil, had mentioned a program that allows you to edit multiple file imformation at once......if that was you, what was the name of that program??
Loads of them, look at MP3Tag as an example.

energy is not always BPM, it's a product of peaks/troughs, but also familiarity with the audience.

Hi, I've been Dj but I still can't figur it out how to scratch correctly... I use pioneer Xdj-xz, any tips?
Try starting with some grammar first!
What is the name of that moving head light behind you Phil?… It is small and interesting.
Chauvet Gib Bar

These things happen sometimes, as you found out, often a log out and log in will do the trick.

Not sure I understand, can't you just pull it off and push it on agin so the marker is in the right place?
I wasn't sure if the knobs would come off OK, do you reckon they just pull off without any hassle?

@@UONeal Thanks. I meant purchased. I can't play tracks purchased and downloaded from the Itunes Store.
