Very true... Discernment is essential. There was somebody at a job I had who seemed like a great person. A situation happened and this person had the smoothest, most cunning words that would cut a person to the core. I knew in that moment I could not work in such an unhealthy environment. Eventually a person's true colors with come out:
You can fool some of the people some of the time,
You can't fool all the people all the time,
AND YOU CAN NEVER FOOL GOD!!

When you're an empath you don't have to wait for them to show their true colors. You already know as soon as they're in your energy field

I've had to repent of my savior complex. We have to respect other's free will and right to make their own mistakes and pay for their own consequences. I'm a recovering people pleaser and I'm also setting boundaries with the toxic people in my life. It's good to mature and save your energy for when you really need to share your empathy. Moreover, I've learned that healthy relationships are NOT a competition. Live and let live!

Thank you for this video, I recently discovered I am an empath and highly sensitive to other’s energies. I wish there were more people like that out there as it can be a very lonely feeling when you are unable to connect with many people on a deeper level and dealing with people close to you that don’t understand the need to remove yourself from a negative situation or person as we feel it so much more strongly than other’s. It is a gift but can be very draining as well 😔

I saw a few therapists when I was younger and every one of them told me I was carrying someone else’s shame. I couldn’t understand what they meant until I uncovered a family secret and realised I was so empathic that I had been carrying the shame of another family member without even knowing I was doing it. People love to put all their junk on me and I am learning slowly basiclly everyday when to back off and focus on myself and God. I do get all my positive energy by spending time with Jesus och listening to worship music to calm down my soul and energy, it truly does really help! It gives me such a deep innerpeace state, both in my mind and soul. I sleep better, feel better, more blissfull and calmer overall. Try Jesus if you haven´t yet for everyone and anyone reading this! But i got myself out and am slowly but surely discovering what and who I really am... Learning boundaries is a very large and important part of this transformation... Also it soothes my heart to know that there are more kind and sweet people in the world like me cuz this state can be very confusing, overwhelming and lonely sometimes... It also dosent help when you have a moral code that is far higher than the people around you

As someone with bpd (borderline personality disorder), this video really helped me. I struggle with letting go of negative people/situations because of the rooted fear in abandonment. The ups and down of idolization/ devaluation also make it more complicated. I’ve been working on being more self aware and working towards letting things go. I feel like borderline is really similar to being a highly sensitive person. It’s only hard because I’m so use to the negative or chaos that I tend to cause it myself. It’s what I’m use too.

Throughout the video, I was saying, "Yes, this is me. This is what I do." Thank you so much. I was in a narcissistic relationship and I gave chance after chance, always wanting to believe what I was being told. When I was just being told what I wanted to hear at the time. I have my own faults because no one is perfect, but I think some of my reactions were just because of the relationship I was in. Since my divorce, most of my relationships have all been with a narcissist and I have since decided to take this time to just be myself. I seem to draw those narcissists to me like a moth to a flame and I just don't have the energy to deal with that sort of relationship any longer.

I don’t know if I’m relieved by this or more discouraged. I’ve always known I’m an empath. As the fifth of six children, my mother always called me her heart child. My problem is I know I’m supposed to “regulate” my heart towards people but I just can’t. Even though my heart is shattered right now, I’ll still believe the good in all of them. I truly believe it’s why I’m here. I’ll leave you with my favorite Marlon Brando quote... “They’re a great people, Kal-El. They wish to be. They merely lack the light to show the way. It is for this reason, above all, their capacity for good, that I have sent them you...”

Very good information. I'm wide awake at 5 a.m. and thought I would check to see what was positive.
Empaths are a soft target for every unthinking lump, for every entitled individual they meet
. All it takes is one good 2 minute rant to straighten out everyone taking advantage of me oh, and I am now left alone with respect.. My neighbors have never heard me talk about an inside voice so they thought they could take advantage.. they see me differently now in a good way.. one came to me and apologized unconditionally. Who knows what they're saying behind my back, but they won't say it to my face
Away from my little dead end Street, out in the world, I shut people down as the need arises. It doesn't feel right but it has to be done so I can have peace.
This channel is well worth subscribing to

It is vital to learn to let go of the relationships which are not good for us empaths and realise we are not the saviours of the world. You can not help anybody who is not willing to be lost. And there are plenty of those who don’t take responsibility for their own lives and would happily transfered their burdens onto somebody else’s shoulders. We need our eyes to be wide open.

You aren’t destined to be used and abused, you can take responsibility and set healthy boundaries. And you don’t have to enable the narcissistic dysfunctions. I've become very isolated so I sometimes go to activities and talk to new people but often feel like my energy is draining away very quickly when they start talking. I think it's when people start telling me all about their lives, problems, opinions immediately and I feel overwhelmed and panicked at being expected to stand and listen, process and respond. When all I wanted was a light hearted chat about the activity at least initially. Another reason is people having opposing opinions to me and rather than enter into debate or conflict I try to smile and nod but want to get away. Occasionally I do meet calm, warm, thoughtful, gentle souls who seem to like, accept and respect me who don't expect me to be their instant free therapist and who instead are curious about getting to know me as a genuine friend, I like people like that. The challenge is not knowing who is who when meeting new people and getting drained by the former type of people then isolating myself to recover.

If you are a an empath/hsp and young please make sure you stay OUT of narcissistic relationships. Get informed, the types, how they acts, how to spot them, etc. Otherwise chances are you will end up with one and they might suck the life out of you and take away invaluable years of your life. Speaking from experience. So, if you're young, GET INFORMED about narcissistic patterns. They are everywhere. I wish someone had told me why I was different and what I should have avoided.. 🥴

Thank you Stephanie I needed to hear your words. I'm an Empath who is being drawn in so many directions I never knew what I was and why I was so different from everyone in my family. I'm 59 yrs old and have just started to find me and control my actions and responses as can empath and its unreal the peace I have found.. I can watch a tv program and pick up the feelings from the actors! It crazy to think I was going insane. No one ever told me I was an HSE.. now I know I'm gifted and I use the gift to benefit not only myself but others as well

This video is so helpful! I always have to remind myself to actually believe it, when people show me their "true selves". Sometimes I am so caught up by what the other person is feeling, that I can no longer get a hold of what I am feeling at the moment. I still have to figure out a way to keep my energy bubble up and not immediately engage in whatever feeling the other person is feeling. It's really hard! But I am looking forward to learning it!

Hi Stephanie, this is extremely good info for us em-paths and highly sensitive people, who need to practice self care and don't take on all other peoples problems .. let them be accountable and responsible for their own actions .. otherwise we get exhausted from keep giving to the takers, there has to be a fair exchange of (positive) energies. A lot of us have lost years of our lives, staying loyal to toxic people who refused to change... time to take care of your self. 💖💖

Finding out that I poses these traits has helped me a ton. Being a highly sensitive empath has been difficult to say the least. Taking on others issues and problems to help is extremely exhausting! What I have learned to do is understanding what I can help with and what I can’t. I have also learned to start giving to myself more. In my opinion I am blessed to be able to feel others emotions! Thanks for sharing this topic!

I am working on my emotional boundaries so that I will no longer be as affected as I am from friends and situations!

You are so right about the struggles we face before figuring out who we are. And of all the different kinds of paths out there, I'm so thankful I was born an empath because that glow and warmth my spirit feels when I know that I'm a positive reinforcement in somebody's life or helping them through their tribulations or raising children and teaching them function and expressiveness and inner strength and watching all of the people we help feel confident, safe, inspired, and most importantly healed. We know we have fulfilled our purpose. It's neat how The Empath and The Psychopath are on exact opposite sides of the spectrum, but we both share the urge and desire to fulfill their inner purpose andto take control the major significant difference is our intentions. The Psychopath is pure selfish, The Empath is 85% selfless with discipline. The Empath's plan is to give, to construct, to protect. The psychopath's plan is to take, destruct, and exploit. Negative topic aside, I'm so glad to have found my people.

I’m an empath and when I do everything that I can for everyone that crosses my path, I start to get bitter and resentful. There is no giving back from certain people. I bottle it up and explode out of nowhere. I need to find a medium half way point so I’m not catching people off guard with my eruptions.

I looked this topic up for a reason probably different than most. I used to have difficulty with this in relationships but have improved in this area. However, I also work with young children in a mental health facility.
I lost a teenage son to suicide 2 years ago & now work with other children. Everyone tells me I’m made for this & I agree but I also find that it drains me, I am always exhausted because I need to learn not to absorb their energy. I love each one of them, I love my job & am full of energy while I’m with them but when I’m not there- I’m a walking zombie. Self-care is not an area I’m good at taking in but this is a good reminder.

I really like what you said about opening the windows, getting sunlight and being in nature. I’ve always needed to have the windows open, even when it’s cold and I need to sleep in a cool room with fans blowing air around. I feel absolutely suffocated when I’m in peoples homes that have closed windows and blinds and it makes me want to run away and I feel like I can’t breathe! I need sunlight every day and gloomy weather gets me down. The lack of light affects me and I’m so much happier when it’s sunny and I love the wind. It’s like my body and soul need the energies to be able to move freely to keep me refreshed and to be able to clear out any lingering emotions and energies that otherwise just stagnant and suffocate me. I’m an extreme empath and highly sensitive and I not only feel other peoples feelings, I can read their actual thoughts more often than not. I’m a carer, helper, counselor type and I see very clearly where people need to make changes to improve their lives and I very much want to help them. I’ve learned over time that most people honestly don’t want to change, are afraid of it and won’t take help when it’s offered so the saying “do not cast your pearls before swine” really applies. I have to limit my exposure to most people and I prefer my solitude and quiet time, doing my own things. I have been single for many years and I’m never lonely and I finally accept the way I am and embrace it and love myself. Emotional vampires are everywhere and I can’t do anything about it so I am very selective about who I associate with. I give my all to those who I love and care for but I still take the private time that I need and that’s ok.

At the age of (almost) 68, this information is sooo enlightening. Amongst me & my 4 sisters, I was always teased as “the crybaby”… it wasn’t something I could easily control. I hated emergency sirens, loud noises or bright lights. I would hide under the piano bench when overwhelming scenes came on tv. I was always an exceptional student; in my only IQ test (at 20) I scored 147. I was a critical care nurse that cried frequently over my patients after I left the hospital & I struggled briefly with destructive coping mechanisms (drinking, etc). People have approached me since I was a child & shared deep, personal information-especially older folks, children, dogs, & cats totally unsolicited. On the Myers-Briggs evaluation, I am an INFJ, but I’m also pretty sure that I’m an HSP. I love nothing better than to be outdoors with my dogs. This info has helped me tremendously. It puts everything into a logical perspective for me. Thank you. 🙏🏻🔆

AWESOME video!!! Thank you. I’m that HSP, empath you spoke to. Just recently ended a budding friendship. Her terms were daily chats and or get togethers or nothing. I, set a boundary which she didn’t like. OH WELL!!! I have to say I had some guilt and smacked myself around a bit (metaphorically). After speaking with my therapist, I,saw that my actions were very healthy- for me. I am a good friend but have to protect myself from those who may want to suck the life from me. I have to say once I set the boundary I felt a weight lifted from my shoulders. Thank you again for your work. It’s extremely helpful. Take care. Appreciation from adult daughter of narcissistic mother…I was the scapegoat 😢.

The sad part is when you realize that someone is just leeching on everything others do to just benefit themselves. But when your abillities to care and listening to others actually is making them better is priceless. But sometimes you don't know until years later when you meet them again and they actually tell you about it. Because we often attract strangers for no reason apparently, which it is not. It is because of what you are and they are drawn to you. Unfortunatly we attract lesser desireable people too and we must learn to deal with that, otherwise we will harm ourselves.

I agree going out in nature, exercising, eating fresh healthy foods, meditation, alone time helps to recharge.

I’ve always known I was sensitive (even as a child).
As a late teen and early 20’s I learned that I was highly empathetic and had an uncanny ability to connect with people, understand them, and/or read them like a book (even the deeper or hidden stuff).
But the BIGGEST piece of the puzzle that is my personality came recently when I finally gave in and took an MBTI personality test... and found out that I’m actually and introvert!! I took 4 other different tests to make absolute sure, because I had always just assumed I was extroverted because I enjoy connecting with people (although it’s at its best for me when it’s 1 on 1). The personality profile was downright creepy how accurate it was in describing me (I’m an INFJ for those of you that are curious).

It is so liberating to finally know there is not something wrong with me. Throughout my life thus far as I have been that person who attracted people who were so needy and had experienced major trauma in their lives. I always felt that I had to be their saviours and guide them out of it or be their support. I would always feel drained and always want to cry but I would say to myself ‘brace up this is your calling in life’ - what a privilege to be that person!!! Two years I met a lady who really wanted me to be my friend. I was reluctant at the outset because I felt something off. I couldn’t put my finger on it and thought it was just me. She has gone through some major trauma in her life and always wants to talk about her sorry luck in life. It takes everything in me not to RUN but I would resist cuz the guilt would set in and I would be saying to myself ‘Don’t be so selfish she needs you to be her friend. You are meant to help her - and so on goes the internal dialogue. This video has shed so much light on this issue. Thank you so much. I literally feel physically liberated.

I am jus becoming aware that I’m an Empath and HSP so learning boundaries and protecting my energy is vital right now! I have been taking on all my ex’s mother traumas as if I’m the one who caused it and is responsible to heal it. Two of my ex’s mothers passed at a young age and the others have had abusive and neglectful mothers. I feel immense guilt when I need to walk away from the toxic relationship like I am abandoning a wounded child. I am starting to understand how I have enabled them and almost destroy myself in the process. I am even looking to quit my career as a nurse for now so I can focus on my own healing and health and create better boundaries. I can’t keep sacrificing myself for others personally and professionally!
