Say what you want about the litany of issues with Activision Blizzard and all of the problems we had with Overwatch 1, the animation and writing team deserve a huge amount of credit for all of the cinematics, the quality of the animation in them and the world they've built.

Though, as many have stated already, it couldn't be of the same quality because of the time and money it would take to create. A great RUclips mini-series that offers amazing insight on what it takes to bring such a show to life is "Arcane: Bridging the Rift". It's a great watch that will make you appreciate the show even more also!
If I had to guess, Kiriko's moms lore was reworked after this cinematic was made. Lorewise, she's supposed to be a mega badass who wouldn't take the Hashimoto clan's shit at all. In this trailer, she's instead presented as a normal ish mother who doesn't have much of a connection to combat, and they even imply that Kiriko's grandmother is the one who taught Kiriko about the fox spirit.
I come back to this vid, my favorite part, undoubtedly, is when Flats sees the little girl happy and(/or) starting to sign, and he just smiles. The pure happiness in this

The audio desync is quite obvious tbh but another thing I noted was the clear influence of into the spider verse in that shot where the old man got shot

I think that the reason they don't make longer versions is the budget. They probably have a very high cost(and the quality shows) and aren't willing to add more. Considering the falling outs of OW recently, I'd imagine that it's rather low on their priority list. But yeah, it's been years that the animation quality is out of this world and a series would be killer.
A show for over watch with the same animation, would be awesome. And maybe even single player games for the characters(like past missions, or new ones. Just to get a good feel of all the characters and how they interact with each other). They could really do sooo much with overwatch, but in my opinion I feel like they're just sitting on all this potential.
I still think the Blizzard Cinematic team doesn't get enough respect from the industry. Their animated shorts are every bit as polished and entertaining as anything that Pixar or DreamWorks has put out. I still think Dragons should have won the Oscar for best animated short (AFAIR it wasn't even nominated).

Man people have been saying for years that blizzard should do an animated movie/series and they just don't do it. Surely they KNOW what a moneymaker that'd be :_: I'll take anything, OW, starcraft, warcraft, diablo. Their animated cinematics have always been top of the line. Just do it blizzard
CDPR has talked about what a massive surge in popularity the Witcher and CP2077 had thanks to Netflix shows. So while it is a big undertaking it seems there's a good return on investment for a well done show.
