@@chiefbawor_thegr8966you think that, but it took me an embarassingly long time to realize it. Like, years of being a Pot player who loves G Gundam and never putting it together.
To be honest, most fighting games are filled to the brim with references. For example, someone on the KoF team really REALLY likes Robin Mask from Kinnikuman
@@kingofgrunder5494 Super Argentine Backbreaker is Tower Bridge (except he throws them upward). And from 03 onward, the Muscle Spark is replaced by a Robin Special.
References are always cool no matter how big or small. Callbacks are also great. Like how a lot of the supers in granblue are diurect references to their attacks in the gacha
@@Frankentank I found it, it's the Neo Kinniku Buster. For the record I know nearly nothing about the series, I just stumbled into this a couple months ago on twitter and thought it was cool GG trivia

As one of 12 G Gundam fans, it's only fitting that I should have gone on to be a Potemkin main (It looks like G Gundam did quite well. It just happens to be the Gundam I heard everyone complain about.)
While the older XX and Xrd Heat Knuckle is a God Finger reference, the Strive version is 2 reference actually. The first sequence is like Super Robot War's Alteisen Riese, when using Revolving Stake, with the attack animation being using all the stake reserve on one enemy. The last part is still God Gundam's Heat End tho.
@@luqmannurhakim7961 someone has told me that before, but... To be honest, looking at the two? I don't see it. I guess they both have pile bunkers on their wrists?
out of all things, i did not expect heat knuckle to be a reference to god damn ERUPTING BURNING FINGER
as if I couldn't fucking love potemkin/Daisuke any more?!?!
IM POSITIVE
THIS GUY HAS THE ABILITIES OF NINJUTSU
WITH THE HELP OF CHIPP ZANUFFF
It is pretty obvious though

Potemkin being a secret love letter to mecha anime makes me all that much more invested in him.
Gotta love the fact that most fighting game devs are huge manga/anime fans
I APPROVE OF THE DOMON VOICE CLIP AT THE END
The most HOT BLOODED English voice actor
Really cool how despite Guilty Gear characters are filled with references to popular media, they still feel cool and unique.

I feel vindicated for yelling "Hiito Endo" on the followup for Heat Knuckle when I was 13 now.
Big man is full of mecha references, no wonder he's my favorite
Ah Kinnikuman, the anime/manga for grapplers. Super heroes, friendship and wrestling.
I remember when I first read Kinnikuman and saw the Muscle Spark and went "THAT'S CLARK'S MOVE"
Kinnikuman: Inspiring grapplers ever since 1978
Holy shit that was a G Gundam reference the whole time, I never noticed and I love G Gundam lol.
Every time I have a rough day at work, I get home and see you upload quality content. Gods bless
I aim to please
I still get chills from
ITS LOUD ROAR TELLS ME TO GRASP VICTORY
A reference? In guilty gear? I'm shocked, shocked i tell you.
But fr, that's really cool and i missed all of those references
IIRC Heavenly Potemkin Buster is another reference to Kinnikuman where a dude jumps off the ceiling while holding their opponent in a similar pose
You know, it probably is, I just don't know who specifically.

i shouldnt have beat her quick wtf
The G Gundam references always warms my heart! Even Heat Knuckle name wise is a reference
I thought the heart was just a red flash to represent a sticky bomb, very cool!
the robobot armor theme fits weirdly well on Potemkin activity somehow
figured (and pointed out to some friends) the God Finger reference some 2 months ago. that shit is fire
I've been a huge fan of G Gundam, and I never caught that Heat Knuckle reference!
I love it! More reason to keep playing Pot.
Fucking.. God Gundam reference. That's so peak.
i knew all of the except for the shining finger
Never noticed that heat knuckle has Pot hold the opponent while repeatedly hitting them with a pile bunker. So cool!
Potemkin looks like Robin Mask in kinnikiman, and pb move is almost the same as his special ' tower bridge '.
Not enough love for GaoGaiGar in this comment section :(
In glue chugging we trust 🙏
Wow, I only knew about the kinnikubuster. Nice find, thanks for sharing Frank🙌🏿🙌🏿
All Potemkin’s finisher moves alt names:
0:06 = Erupting Burning Finger: SCHWARZEN KNUCKLE BLAST
1:04 = Hell and Heaven Dual Knuckles: Abyssal & Celestial Thrust Knuckles
Well now I want to play Potemkin.

I knew Gigantic Bullet was Hell and Heaven, but somehow Heat Extend never registered to me as Heat End. Very observant!
i thought that the second move was a reference to pops ultimate move from dragon quest dai, probably both inspired by the same thing

why did they put the mecha references on him instead of justice lol
man's so big he is the mecha
Guilty Gear has good taste in mecha anime.
Still trying to decipher what his English va says during pot buster.
