    Another great thing about this bike: The low Rallye seat improves off-road controllability, especially for shorter riders. The seat height is 835 mm - 35 mm lower than the standard seat. This is without changing stock suspension!

    • @mrtopcat2
      @mrtopcat2 9 месяцев назад +1

      How is anything low a good thing on a bike that supposed to go off-road? I have never seen a good rider having issues with tall bikes. They usually just slide over a bit at the traffic light. Gaston Rahier is probably the most famous example.

      @@mrtopcat2 i agree with you as far as that nobody needs to "flatfoot on both sides of a motorcycle''... the bigger problem ist the tank on top of the motor which creates that ANGST of tipping over in slow corners

      you're not supposed to put your feet on the ground mate! they belong on the footpegs of your motorcycle!

    • @sancoblanco
      @sancoblanco 8 месяцев назад

      Because if you are vertically challenged it does provide more confidence if you can touch the ground with your feet, in case bike is about the tip over. Everyone thinks they are Pol Tarrés until they hit the first bump on the road and fall over @@kloppskalli

    • @mrtopcat2
      @mrtopcat2 8 месяцев назад

      @@kloppskalli Well, that is exactly the issue. The market seems to be driven by catering to ‘new riders’ or other inexperienced riders, who are getting these bikes to virtue signal with their suggested off-road lifestyle, without actually possessing any of that virtue, let alone ever venturing off the pavement. They need both feet flat on the ground just to not fall over, while struggling to make even a simple a 3-point turn on the most even pavement.

    Beautiful, but my f800gs adventure is still doing fine but in the future the GS is a possibility. If the quality, reliability and resale value is the same as my previous BMW´s then I'll buy one in the future. I heard him say TFT expensive 1000£...the display on a Honda AT costs 3000 😢. The adventure will probably be a superior allround travel companion. Is it stil a 270° crancshaft because I more prefer the smooth 360 of the old 800.

    Nice vid Rob, looks a totally different bike from my old F850GS! They’ve repositioned this bike to be a lighter off road bike? The F850 bikes all overlapped a bit too much so now they all have more individual identity. I like it and the lighter weight would make it better as the weight was why I sold my old bike.

I know that this 900 GS is not going to be like the KTM in hardcore Enduro and I know this 900 GS is not going to be the most comfortable bike for street roads as the 1250 GS, but maybe this bike is going to be in the middle of those two worlds, do you think that this bike, is going to give me that sensetion of satisfaction? Unremarkable and top heavy unlike the 890 which has its weight low, the best suspension and is so well balanced - this bike is cheap looking. Time will tell but having owed an F (reliable but dull) and an 790 R it seems like BMW is not learning a lot. Must be good margin$ in the roundel esp as its a china bike. The CF moto seems a better option.

      @MH-xd2nd 10 месяцев назад

      I think they’re trying to separate the models more. The 800GS is a barebones light tourer for one up street riding, the 900GSA is the long distance two up tourer that may well work a bit better with the bigger engine. The 900GS is now more off-road focussed. If you think about it, it makes sense as the 850GS was too heavy off-road and not great as a street bike. However there is definitely a whiff of the emperor’s new clothes about the 800GS and 900GSA.

    • @chrishart8548
      @chrishart8548 10 месяцев назад

      @MH-xd2nd but we had a f750gs an f850gs and a f850gsa so the models have not been separated. The f900gs has been improved. How they have increased the engine size and nothing else on the other versions is not really great. I actually thought the f800gs was making a comeback to rival the T7 transalp 800de and really shave some weight off.

    They've done a good job here. BMW always turns in a well developed, reliable package that is broadly very capable and versatile. That said, I still think the weight is too high for a serious offroad bike - less than 10% lighter than the phenominal 1250GS. Conventional suspension will help off road though. Price is ok-ish for the modern gouge market - it makes the Tenere (and AT) look very expensive, but I'd take the Tenere off road and for expedition any day: keep it simple, keep it strong! Ultimate quiver: still 1250GS and Tenere 700 WR. Wouldn't trust a KTM to get you home - I've owned 35 bikes of which 5 were KTM and they've all let me down. The other 30? Never.

  • @mathias6423
    @mathias6423 10 месяцев назад +2

    Very interesting, I always thought this F900 engine was a bit weak for the F900R and the F900XR but for an off-road adventure bike it might the perfect.
    It will of course knock the Tenere 700 out of the park but that is not what it is going up against spec och pricewise. It is of course competing with the 890 Adventure, Adventure R and the Ducati Desert X and such bikes. So 219 kg wet, 105 horsepower and around 95 nm torque, hmm.
    I wonder if it could get as good or close to the KTM 890 Adventure R in the woods and for more technical off-road use, then I would be very interested since BMW's reliability is better than KTM

    it's so simple. 200kg bike as standard, +- 100 ish hp for the fun factor and a good alround design like the T7 but with lower center that's ready to be thrashed. don't get me wrong, we want the raw hooligan feeling back. I rlly like what they did but they could be better. Maybe take of the heavy BMW logo's that'll instantly take of 10+ kg xD

      This BMW physically looks a lot like a Tuareg 660, which I own. Its power train, slightly heavier weight, and tech package are aimed at the Ducati Desert X and the KTM 890. The midrange ADV bike class has a nice set of offerings that are all competative, and equally competent, to the point that rider skill is the determining factor more than the difference in machinery. Each bike is stronger in some area than the others, which gives riders choices that will best fit their riding style, their on/off road riding percentages, their budget, and their esthetic tastes. Too many good choices is a good problem to have!

      The Tiger used to have an uber-smooth Turbine like triple… Then Triumph “meddled” with the crank pins in an attempt to deliver twin cylinder characteristics.
      For many of us, they ruined its best feature! 🤦‍♂️

    I was just about to drop £23K on a R1300GS … However I get anxious about motorcycle theft (particularly in the U.K. and when touring Northern Europe (France / Netherlands is v bad) ..
    However; this looks utterly gorgeous.
    Especially the rear as the video discusses.
    I’m tempted to go for one of these. It has a standard Akra, add in the new (today’s news) BMW nav device, cruise control and some vario luggage.
    The only thing that frustrates me is the 14.5L tank !

      The tank is super small for this sort of bike, they messed that one badly, it will at max get 150 miles range on a full tank which ia horrid for an adventure focused bike, they should have strived to get a 200 mile range with it.
