I wanted to mention over the past couple days I've been thinking about how much I admire the ministry of these two men, and about the possible usefulness of this term. I wanted to mention that a term like this is more helpful than it seemed at first when thinking about the quasi-religious assumptions of some of the more intense influences of modern philosophy. And yet, I think the primary value of it is in addressing society from a sociological standpoint, because I want to make sure that I'm not underappreciating theology. That said, in considering the usefulness of a term like "Protestant Paganism" as attributed to secular people, I think there is a second which could help locate it and some of the militant philosophical assumptions our generation is being forced to live in. "Secular Rhetorical Puritans," and in the sense that the secular world is increasingly puritanical about completely morally rhetorical ethics. I agree that the religious assumptions of secular people are increasingly important for us to acknowledge. Picture the scarlet letter where social contract becomes a number of people in our society insisting upon the solidarity of wearing an A upon hollow chests only so that people may point at those who didn't, in order to claim others should deny their guilt and shame agreeing to call it equal as they insisted their spiritual adultery against God is okay. This is not done in exactly the same way everyplace, and I think it's important to differentiate the dogmatic impetuses for our being the first generation ever to call such a practice "normal." For instance, both political parties are doing this in America, but I think the disposition of this social dynamic makes leftish politics particularly corrupting. Not to excuse the religious abuses of church life by many republicans in America doing the same thing. Again, very thoughtful guys, I'm praying such a dynamic does not continue to increase in influence and understanding it is very important. Thank you for allowing me and the public to engage with your ideas.
