Small Corrections/clarifications: -"REAP" and "ACTION" are entirely seperate ways to " USE" creature cards. Doing any action that "uses" a creature or artifact exhasts that card. Doing an action does not net the player any effects in addition to those printed on the card. - If you have a card of a house not on your identity card in your hand or battlefield, you can name that house to use and play that turn. You may also name no house to do nothing if forced to by card effects.
I believe that second point got modified in the May 2019 rules update (images-cdn.fantasyflightgames.com/filer_public/f9/a2/f9a28865-cd96-4f36-97e5-0f8ea75288c0/keyforge_rulebook_v9-compressed.pdf): it now specifically says that when choosing a house for the turn, it must be a house from their identity card. If a card's effect requires naming a house, the rule is a little looser; it must be a house from their identity card or they control a card that belongs to that house. So, you cannot name "no house", and you cannot name a house that you don't have anything of, when a card effect forces you to.
So as they explained, reaping with a creature. When you ‘reap’ with a creature what you’re doing from a game mechanics sense is exhausting it, and gaining 1 Æmber in the process. The other way is some cards give you Æmber just for playing them l, as indicated by the icon appearing in the top left hand (not all cards do that). I’m actually not sure if they mentioned that or not. Im gonna check the video again now because I don’t think they did. Some creature have fight/reap abilities that also net additional Æmber. Some actions and creatures also have the ability to steal it from your opponent.
You know what i dislike about this How To Play series? No equivalent of Quickmatch. There are stuffs you cant teach without giving the students examples
i actually dont mind it being separated. often im untypically german and not excited to read a manual. having the video being only about the rules, gives me an overview on what to expect and doesnt waste any of my data plan
I gotta ask. Is there anyone else that misses Tabletop and Wil Wheaton? I dont even know who Becca is, but her voice is kind of annoying. I used to put Tabletop on in the background while I was working and just listened to the new games that they were playing. Ever since it kind of got resurrected, I haven't wanted to do that. I do like the idea of the separated rules videos though. That is a nice touch.
I like Becca as she usually has much enthusiasm, but I do miss TableTop dearly, it is not even remotely the same. We got game exposure and entertainment ... now game exposure, so better than nothing, because learning about new games ... "Play more games!"
@@SwordAgainstChaos See, in that I beg to disagree. Yeah, she is definitely attractive, but just because she is attractive doesnt mean I want to watch and/or listen to her.
Yeah, no. KeyForge is a waste of money. Just because you are buying full decks as opposed to booster packs, doesn't mean it's any less of a scuzzy money-hungry CCG.
You should try the game. I've personally had lots of fun with it, and I bought decks for my family for Christmas. There is nothing wrong with making money, but fortunately you don't have to buy a CCG if you don't want to.
collection games have no addicition effect on me either but the game itself is quite some fun. the rediculus combos will have you rofl alone. and in contrary to mtg you will have fun for at least 3 evenings with one deck. instead of three games. since you first have to understand how to play it. its easy to pick up and thechain mechanic is a nice balance for power gamers
Your not wrong, I bought six decks and one is clearly more powerful than the rest, and a second one is pretty good. Some of the others just *shakes head* didn't come together. I got invited to a XMas dinner somewhat last minute and wanted to give them Keyforge, but the local store was sold out so they inherited my subpar decks, but they did get enough DIY tokens to run two games simo (and I don't even know if they'll try the game) so they made out in the end. Not sure how you can force casual to log games and thereby generate an equalizing amount of chains.
I don't consider it a CCG. Maybe it's a CCG if you have terrible will power and OCD for collecting things that aren't meant to be collected because you feel the need to try to be better than everyone else. But, that's more a personal issue.
@@squattingheads just a lot of stolen mechanics with different names slapped on them. It seems pretty obvious to me although I don't know how copyright law works when it comes to game design, it's just that the glaring rip offs were funny to me is all.
@@DavetheLeg When it comes to game design, mechanics are often fine to copy otherwise no one would ever be able to create new games. However, this game does have major differences from your average ccg, tcg, or lcg. Those being the unique deck aspect, instead of killing the other player you are trying to gain amber, and no land or energy mechanic. At the same time, it isn't surprising that there are similar mechanics. The same designer made both games .

I love the way you have fun talking about the games. You are a bit goofy, but in a good way
Thanks Becca - awesome job in explaining the game and your enthusiasm is always appreciated ;)
