you can also under-power a weapon. laser cannons fire 3 times and over heat. lose 5 % power and you can keep them firing forever. adds a bit of time between shells but long term dps is easy to achieve. i was flying a claim jumpers mission and used size 4 laser cannons on a kartua-al to get them at range . 3-5 laser impacts pop the prospectors in the zone. and since the target environment is so rich i built the discipline into the mechanism so i could "laser" focus on landing the shots as they came got into a rhythm. made many moneys :)
I can’t thank you enough for the work you do for the community Sub! You have really found you niche! Love you videos brother! Looking forward to the weapons review!!!!!
Thank you very much for that video. I've always resisted learning the ins and outs of why people recommended the weapons they did, but now you've given me the tools in an easy-to-understand format.
the actual segment of the Power bar for each weapon that's dedicated to 'Overpowering' represents a gradient of effectiveness. Clicking halfway through an overpower bar on a weapon that gets a 16% bonus to damage when fully overpowered will result in an 8% bonus to damage, for example. Most weapons have a 'sweet spot' in their overpower bar where the increase to heat from overpowering isn't enough to cause noteworthy overheating, while still netting an increase in DPS.
I've been looking for a video like this for awhile as overpowered was my go to. Phenomenal work, I really appreciate the attention to detail and a definitive answer. I will be taking the training wheels off.
This is very interesting but worrying as well: I spent a lot of aEUC on weapons which I didn't know were feature disabled where I could have invested in something else and more rewarding.
Just found this channel today & can't stop watching. Absolutely fantastic information, great voice, well presented & no non-sense. Can't thank you enough!
Awesome work, I totally forgot about the overpower option! I was wondering though, when component wear and tear comes into play, how would the overheating effect the attrition’s? Or any ship weapon at that.. I usually just overclock everything :). But the trigger discipline is key as you mentioned.. The default loadout on the Harb is powerful but you don’t always have rearming facility available, so I switched out for the energy weapon loadout... I miss the days of Star Wars galaxies.. I had a wall full of stickies with components and ship weapons... but I find it weird that component information is not in game when purchasing... you have to go out to a third party source to understand what you’re buying... You just buy based of description... “ this gun is loved by its users” “Long shot from this puts fear in your enemies” Etc... “This comment is too long for people to read” Lol But anyhow, Thanks for the refresher!
Thanks! There really isn't a reason for CIG to add this info to the game because its always changing. Why design the UI for this info when capacitor and degradation is just going to change the whole thing and require another updated UI. This is just the growing pains of playing an unfinished game.
Jesus Christ, this video was a gamechanger for me. I didn't even realize the Attritions have a dropoff on damage, and come to find out it is adverse to my playstyle. With the overpower on ballistics, and since I'm confident in my trigger discipline, I'm going for a full ballistic loadout on my Connie. Also, you might already know this, but the C788s have exploding shells that currently have a bug giving you a crimestat if you kill the crew before the ship blows; that being said, I'm going to try a Deadbolt 4&5 loadout to go against those Hammerheads/stolen Idris.
My main problem with using weapon heat increased damage is that the temperature variance is so high that when you near the highest dps it overheats before you can get many high heat shots out so most come out at about 500°
I had thought attritions had an overall buff because the overheat attribute was not in game yet. Great video, eager to see the followup testing of more weapons in game. Most interested in gattlings as their fire rate goes from wow to holy hell. Especially the revenant on top of my bucc.
@@SubliminaLstv having trouble finding out if attritions overheat buff is still inactive as a new player do you happen to know if that is still the case? Thanks!
Having recently started OCing my weapons, I'd advocate for the overclock with ballistic gatlings even if you have a lower alpha damage with it. The reason is the increased fire rate definitely seems to cover for that, especially if you're not always on target anyway so the guns aren't constantly overheating.
woow i didnt anticipate for the heat scaling damage of the attitions to be 0. Also thanks for clarifying the difference between overclocking and overpowering this will be helpful for some of my ships since stock feels way to slow and overclock just melts my weapons withing seconds (looking at you CF series repeater)
This definitely makes more sense in a real dogfight. Sustained damage is always misleading because you can never have guns on target nonstop for 5 minutes, burst damage is by far the most important.
You sir, read my mind. I’ve been using a “sniper” build for bounties recently. I’m not the best pilot and mouse and keyboard certainly don’t help. To make bounties more efficient I’ve been running my defender with s3 quarreler cannons overclocked. I noticed the firing rate didn’t increase but I was able to start engaging targets at about 4700 meters even tho they are rated at 3700 meters. And I also wondered if the damage was also increased. I went back to the Sukoran from the fr-76 for the 100% ballistic protection even tho I have no idea if it even works currently. the idea is, I may take a few shots from a vanguard or a valkyrie but I don’t want my ship to get damaged. That way I can kill the target early, and bounce out before backup shows and keep doing that over and over. So far it’s worked out pretty good and I want to try a prowler with the fixed s5s to test the same thing. The M7As have a range of 5900 meters. With this I believe I might be able to engage HH with out ever taking a shot. Not sure if I’ll be able kill one but it’s worth a look see.
The damage increasing while heating up caused a shield penetration bug so they removed that feature In 3.5 or 3.6 I think. They reintroduced it with 3.10 if I remember correctly calling it fixed so I am very surprised that its not working since it such a recent reimplementation. Btw I shall be surprised if people didnt know about the overpower feature at all. I commonly use that on weapons which overheat too fast on overclock for my fighting style. Since gatlings for example overheat much quicker in recent patches I just overpower them getting fire onto target significantly longer.
yeah I prefer the Attritions stock so I can hold my finger down. It never overheats. I try to circle strafe and so like to fire continuously. Its how I taught myself and am really thrown off if I use a setup that overheats. However thanks for the info - its very useful.
Great job Sub! Could you do a video of comparing different weapons and give us tips on which weapons would be better to overclock and which to overpower? For example gatling guns have overPOWER multiplier of 50% and overCLOCK multiplier of 30% with standard firerate multipliers of 1.2 and 1.5 respectively. Does that mean that it's better to overPOWER gatlings rather than overclock?
I will have to do a video on them all separately. Remember some of the data on erkul may not be activated. So it may not have a damage buff. Your welcome to test it your self with a friend.

I choose Attritions because they work well with NPC bounties but they suck at PVP, especially if you're in a Sabre and your opponent is in an Arrow or Gladius.
Yeah I agree and am also glad I’m not the only one who struggles with smaller ships XD Buccs and Hurricanes are the 2 I struggle with. Then depends on the level of bounties for load out. No, i dont see it the same way like u. At the current state, IMO O.P. Haves no place in the verse, its useless. Also not for to "train" trigger discipline. Main reason for that is simple. U should always train as u fight. When u train first for the timer of O.P. U get used to that. And have to train again for the O.C. Times, when u step up to that. So better just directly get used to O.C. So u dont have to spend time in training and get used to a obsolet system. Better just go for the O.C
What i think Sub mean is that if you not so good at leading your target and miss many of shoots overpowered or even normal could be more effective for you then overclocked.

Wow. The HUD's looked really good back then. Now we got this bland blue mess that looks rather bad.
i just hate how the game rubberbands the NPC and makes it harder to stay on target
@@cath6851 @@cath6851 ah, well then sure. Then i absolutely agree. Maybe i missunderstood it. Maybe u saw, that engmish is not my native language. So its very possible that i got it wrong XD
@@ch-sqpopay9949 yeah I think you misunderstood what Subliminal said ^^
I'm not judging you, I'm from a country where baguettes are sacred...
I only recommend it as a step to OC for people who cant handle it.
Learned something new... again. Remark: I know you gotta make a living but ads come a bit strong in this vid.... :(
I let Google place them in this one. They did the same amount as I would have. I think you probably got unlucky. There is no guarantee you will even see one.
0.19 That's Point One Nine... 🚫 Point Nineteen :)
First.
Congratulations!
My Brain Hurts hahahahaha
You can’t overclock weapons in 3.14 at all
This is an accurate statement.
@@SubliminaLstv I’m new and bought attrition’s for 200k as first step… 😑
