I find it ridiculous that later episodes of Squidward being physically injured in horrific ways like his toenail or eyebrow getting ripped off are considered fine but a panty raid joke gets banned
@@xoler2167 I think it’s mostly because violence is expected in these cartoons and seen as comedic but the way they portrayed the panty raid was like it’s some cool rebellious thing to break into a woman’s house and steal her underwear for sexual purposes and only Mr. Krabs got punished and it seems like he was only punished because it was his mother.

I’ll give the Squidward torture stuff one thing, it’s nearly impossible to replicate. Panty raids can absolutely be replicated, so they likely don’t want kids to try it.
@@DrSuperLuigiSeth1 I disagree. Kids can replicate anything. There’s been kids that jumped off roofs thinking they could fly like Superman or who played “hanging” and hung a kid to death.
You just have to let kids watch age appropriate shows and always listen, explain and discuss the things they saw at the end of each day while tucking them into bed.

Plus, the episode shows people getting punished for the panty raid, so it’s not like the episode was trying to portray it in a positive light.
@@eon1014 Right. I mean I probably saw this episode a good number of times whenever it aired on tv and never once did my child mind go “Hey! that looks like a good idea. I’ll have to remember to go through my moms drawers sometime!”. If I thought anything it would have been “haha underwear is funny”. It’s just a ridiculous decision to ban it for that imo.

I can get WHY it got banned but bro, this is such an iconic episode? I remember it airing for the first time when I was a kid! It’s just as timeless and iconic as the rest of the early seasons. It’s so funny to see it got banned.

I think everyone can clearly see why the “Mid-Life Crustacean” episode was banned. But, aside from that, it’s pretty relatable. Mainly, Mr. Krabs thinks he’s getting old, while we also think we’re getting old. Unlike me who rewatches episodes of SpongeBob like an adult. (Oh, god. Am I getting old?)

Should we ban the snowball fight episode because it’s too violent? Should we ban the sailor mouth episode because it talks about bad language? “I think we need to ban Squidward from future episodes because he makes me uncomfortable” - no one likes complaining no matter how bad it makes you feel truth hurts

I don’t necessarily think the episode should be banned but I understand why it is since most parents don’t actually take the time to go over proper boundaries with their kids so they rely on censors to do their job for them

@@quicksand3516 it did happen though, often at dorms. It was seen as kind of a prank so not entirely okay but mostly brushed off as boys being boys. It happened at Harvard in the 50s and was seen as a pre exam ritual until the 60s, became a nation wide trend, and had 52 schools known for participating in them. They’d go into the girls dorm and steal their underwear. It’s presented in a similar way I’m the episode, not good but more of a harmless prank instead of an incredibly creepy and sexualizing thing to do. There popularity faded in the 70s and I think they were eventually deemed illegal, even though theft was already a crime and it should’ve been considered illegal anyway. We can all have different opinions on whether or not the episode itself need to be banned, I liked the episode in general when I saw it as a kid outside of the brief panty raid and it’s a short segment so it could be overlooked, but I understand why it was banned

Yeah but the good episodes are so few and far between after the movie. None of the episodes they’ve watched have been truly bad; I’m not sure the same can be said about post-movie SpongeBob
season 4 is still pretty great. wheres garry, kung fu island, atlantis and best day ever still hold up
There are a few post-movie episodes that are honestly really great and deserve attention, some of my favorites being Fear of a Krabby Patty, Have You Seen This Snail, Selling Out, Mermaidman and Barnacleboy VI, The Krusty Towers, Mrs. Puff You're Fired, The Inmates Of Summer, and more! They would probably just have to watch some of them individually and not always paired with their sister episodes like they've been doing

I actually got to watch Midlife Crustacean in High School along with the rest of the class because we were being educated on Midlife Crises! The fact it got banned later makes that even funnier to me, but I still hate the fact it was banned. If they’re worried about kids replicating it, I never personally heard of anyone in the whole original generation of SpongeBob kids trying a panty raid because of this episode. 🤷♀️ 🤦♀️
The thing is too, that Krabs is punished by the end of the episode, so he clearly wasn't shown as being in the right
However the implication that Spongebob and Patrick have done this multiple times is pretty hilarious

I got all of season 3 on DVD so I ca watch Mid-Life Crustacean whenever I feel like it and it's still one of my favorite episodes. Though I will admit, as a kid, the double take my aunt did when she walked passed when Patrick said "panty raid" is still hilarious to me.
