Great review! Thanks for actually putting it on your head and showing us what it looks like in use. Too many helmet reviewers don’t bother to put the helmet on
Nice review. Been thinking about getting a new helmet and have looked at Thousand. The review is helpful. And think this video is the first time I’ve seen you without the cap, if only briefly.
We share same aesthetic taste I notice. 😜 just bought myself a Kona Sutra and was looking for a cool helmet with a more vintage vibe. Then I pumped into this channel again. ❤️
Yay I'm so excited, I just ordered one! I got my ebike back from the shop a couple days ago and can't wait to wear a non-lame/unfashionable bike helmet with it haha
Very helpful review! I'll be keeping an eye on these in the future in case they expand sizes. I have the opposite issue in that 62cm is the minimum helmet size I would consider. But I LOVE the U-Lock hole idea. Having to take my helmet inside with me is one of my biggest bike commute hassles. While the vents are a problem for me in summertime Kansas, that's exactly the kind of thing I look for in winter. Venting in top/rear while keeping the wind chill out of the front. If they made one of those helmets in a 62-66cm size, and a "mid-vis" color like mustard or green to contrast with both blacktop and snow, I would be very interested in this for winter commuter riding.
When I was young I never used a helmet, now I tell everyone not to leave home without one. I bought Thousand's Heritage Helmet last year, and am happy with the purchase. The company produces quality helmets, that look and feel good. Thanks for the review of their new helmet design.
The visor on the Chapter helmet looks really cool! I recently replaced my MTB style helmet with the more urban style MIPS Giro Cormick. It fits my head much better... I hardly notice it's there. Also the straps are soft and comfy. I think it looks pretty cool too. It's like a beefier Chapter. 😀 Great review! Thanks for sharing.
I have a previous version of this helmet! I really love the style. I wear cycling caps on long rides with sunglasses, and don't ride in rain much so it's NBD that the visor isn't as long. I have medium length hair with an undercut though, and I end up flipping my hair into the helmet to get it to fit. Kind of annoying, but overall I get lots of compliments and it works for my mostly casual rides. I can understand how it runs hot for a lot of people, but in the upper Midwest I don't struggle with that quite as much. I also agree about sizes! My partner is small and had to use a bern kids helmet to get something stylish and well fitting.
I have that same helmet! I love it. It does press a lil too much on my forhead and creates a depression. So, I wear a cycling cap under it backwards and it helps a lot. It is a lil heavy for road bike riding though. I just use it for my casual biking
Hell yeah I'm looking at getting one of these helmets but I have a pair of aftershokz trekz titanium headphones and I'm wondering if they would work with these helmets. I need a new helmet because I crashed 2 weeks ago and I'm still using my old helmet it has a crack and a bunch of dents I fixed it with super glue and duct tape🤣 I'm still recovering but still riding. PS awesome video and the duct tape I used was pink duct tape to add some Flair🙃... and the helmet are used is a Giro
Oh my goodness yes go get a new helmet! That one (though stylishly repaired 😉) will not be effective anymore. Not sure about the headphones fitting. Are those the kind that go in front of the ear?
@@radbikeadventure yes. It takes some time to get used to for some people but there are an awesome way to listen to music while riding a bike. and they still allow you to hear background noise. They helped me avoid some pretty close calls and they're quite durable. I think I've had them for 4 years now. ruclips.net/video/JKm_pzy-iUM/видео.html
Small noggin rider here too! I 2nd both smaller size option and longer visor options. Thumbs up! What's model is your Mtn Bike Helmet? I like that you mentioned it's really lightweight. For long rides that's probably a really nice feature and it looks way more ventilated.
yeah. how they.measure up to safety? if I'm gonna pay that much it better do its primart jobjob. im not familiar with the MIPS safety system. at least that was included so salute there. other than that, provide more on why I should buy this helmet in regards to safety. sell the safety part of it. all else makes a good presentation. very good in fact. 8.7/10
I got a few problems with that helmet: 1. The light. I have a light strapped to my helmet and one of the big benefits is that the light is now one less thing to coordinate when you go for a ride. Because this light is separate, and because it turns on when you attach it, you can’t leave it on the helmet permanently. Also, I do not trust that magnet at all. Even if the light does not fall off with a bump on the road, one day it will fall off when you tie the bike up, or when you chuck the helmet into the back of a car, etc. 2. The colour. Buy a white helmet please! It’s not a fashion item. It is amazing how every bit of clothing can help to make you more visible. You might think that any car driver that cannot see your helmet is not gonna see the rest of you, but it doesn’t work that way. Our vision is highly attuned to catching bright things in motion. Car drivers are typically looking for a big white rectangle the size of a fridge when they pull out in traffic. That’s how they miss cyclists. Everything you wear that is bright makes a difference. The difference between a white t-shirt and a black one is HUGE. A white helmet moving along the top of the roofline of cars could be just the thing that saves your life, 3. Ventilation. Yeah, that is terrible. Really terrible. Might as well wear a bucket. 4. Visor. Yep, same. Terrible. I shopped far and wide to find the biggest visor available for a cycle tour in tropical Vietnam. It makes a huge difference. Now, I would not ride without a good “sombrero” of shade. An under-cap might extend the shade, but it’s summer when you mostly need it, and caps are too hot in summer.
It's one of the prettiest MIPS helmets for sure, but besides that it isn't very good to be honest. It's so uncomfortable, even the little velcro dots left marks pressing in my forehead through the super thin padding. It also feels kinda flimsy/cheap and it's so noisy when you get above 20kph. I returned mine and got an Abus Hyban 2.0 MIPS instead which has been a dream so far. Super comfy, quiet, and much stronger with that ABS shell to boot. Do yourself a favor and get a real helmet folks, this is nothing more than a well marketed fashion statement.
Nice looking helmet, but way out of my price range. Once I learned that all helmets are of a similar safety standard, I went for the cheapest comfortable and well-ventilated helmet I could find, preferring to spend my money on the bike and quality camping gear. It sounds as if this model and similar are the next generation in safety, so I will now have to investigate the newer options. I managed to crash my Brompton for the first time last week. A stupidly over confident and too slow u-turn on a steep, narrow country lane. Despite the complete lack of speed, I took a surprisingly violent fall head first down the gravelly paved road. Think my forearm and shoulder took the brunt, but my head hit the road hard on the helmet across my temple. Maybe my sunglasses complicated things, but I still have a painful bruise and a headache four days later. Weirdly, the helmet appears unmarked except for a minute scratch on the visor which could well have been there for years. Just goes to show that some of us need a helmet even when the bike is barely moving! I love your touring videos. Am concerned there won't be more in future, now you have the canine companions. Extra large trailers, maybe?|
I didn’t notice getting overheated but we also didn’t ride any massive hills. That’s why I still think it’s more of a commuter/town helmet for shorter rides.
Thanks for the reviewing the Thousand helmet. I’m looking for a new one to replace my Giro and based on you’re review it seems like one to add to the list of possibilities. Btw, when are you debuting the RAD t-shirt. I thought I heard it mentioned in an earlier vid.
Great pros /cons review on the thousands chapter helmet. I like the sun visor, sticker, magnetic 💡 storage bag, and locking feature. However, It looks like it needs more ventilation slots and a black helmet liner along with darker chin straps to hide dirt. I am using a Blue schwinn adult intercept helmet at the present time.
I need a nicer helmet, don’t no if that one suits me though, but I love the light on it, I posted my vintage bike if you would like to check it out, I’m not good at RUclips like you and others are, I mainly posted it because you never see a 1985 Raleigh kodiak touring bike on RUclips or any of the other 4 models that came out in That year, cheers
It looks horrible compared to the heritage model. They should have made the same helmet with a integrated red led in the back and white small led's out of the front peak. Then the helmet could have had more or less the same lines.
Ha it does kinda resemble an equestrian helmet now that I think about it, but i saw a young guy wearing one the other day and i thought...yeah, that DOES look like a sleek, stylish helmet. i dig it!

Great video and review! That light design is very clever~

Nice review! and you look so cool with the helmet. your video convince me to buy one soon.

Yes, really hoping they expand their sizing options!

Thanks for sharing Kevin! Glad you’re enjoying your Thousand helmet as well 😃
Great review. Didn't know the story behind the name. So many great features but the weight and lack of ventilation are show stoppers for me. Thanks! ☮
Yea, for shorter cruising rides it’s fun to wear but for more intense stuff I definitely agree with you on those points!
Great looking helmet - very style forward! And the back light is fantastic!
Agreed!

Hi! You wear a cycling cap under the Heritage helmet? How is it? Thanks in advance!

I'll have to try that! I get a little indent too now that I think about it. Thanks Veronika!

I will subscribe since you asked so nicely to gently tap. That is my speed.

Here is the mountain bike helmet (size xs) I just got really loving it (fits my tiny head PERFECTLY): bit.ly/3qZM8Xf
Do you know if I could wear the medium if I am on the border between sizes at 57 cm? I'm agonizing over what size to get here. :) Thanks.
There's a measurement guide on the website.
I am exacty in the same dilema 😅
Looks great but it's terrible when it comes to protection, you should definitely check XNITO

What kind of helmet do you ride in (Danish and Netherland riders exempt ;) )??
Did you know Xnito? It is rated for class 3 vehicles? Can you make a review?
This was an excellent review!
Thank you!
Thanks for this video. Does this helmet leave an imprint on the forehead?
I just got one yesterday for Christmas and I love it. Is there a way to charge the back reflector without it being on? It doesn’t seem so
Unfortunately no. I’ve also noticed the charge doesn’t hold very long so definitely give it a fresh charge before you head out!
Nice review
I'd love to get one, but of course it's not available in Australia
😭 I wonder if they’ll be going international someday.
Great review. I really enjoyed it. They are $145 in 2024.

they charge for the visor, What's up with that?

I too wish there were more vents. I find my noggin sweats more in this helmet.

More vents would definitely be nice but for the type of helmet it is I was finding it perfect for short rides.
How much is it weigh? Thanks
it's not lightweight. can't remember i'm sure it's listed on their website tho
That's a good looking helmet
My thousand helmets vents whistles in the wind. That's my only complaint.
No free stickers with a helmet purchase! What's up with that?
She called out inflation before it happened!
With the Thousand Chapter helmet we find the "mushroom" side on the head, too bad.
Nice review! p.s. You look like the female version of Eddie Redmayne.
Thanks! Ha yea we are kind of lookalikes
That's was very sad to hear about the women's friend.
What i don't like about helmets is, bugs will fly through the vent, and they get stuck. The bugs not happy, i'm not happy. Not cool.
I think i've only had that happen twice in my life. Not fun but no a usual occurrence for me!
It looks horrible compared to the heritage model. They should have made the same helmet with a integrated red led in the back and white small led's out of the front peak. Then the helmet could have had more or less the same lines.
Nah looks like an equestrian helmet. The Bern helmet has one with large vent holes.
Ha it does kinda resemble an equestrian helmet now that I think about it, but i saw a young guy wearing one the other day and i thought...yeah, that DOES look like a sleek, stylish helmet. i dig it!
You're nice. : )
Wari naic
Nice Helmet but what a bunch of nit pickers!
