  • In today’s episode of Confessions of a CyberPsychologist, I chat with Dr Sean Guillory ( / sean-guillory-cog-neuro ) about The Three Dimensions of the Information Age and the O-O Convergence.
As a side-note: although Sean works for Booz Allen Hamilton, his conversation with me today was in a personal capacity and NOT speaking in an official capacity as a representative of Booz Allen Hamilton.
We talk about the cognitive side of cyberpsychology and information warfare. We focus on:
00:51 Sean’s journey into the cognitive side of CyberPsychology and what makes a great data scientist.
14:28 How the ‘Cognitive Domain’ relates to CyberPsychology, the nature of the fight in the information space and the influencing or nudging of human thought and behaviour.
21:54 The extended mind, the shaping of our identities by online interactions, mirror box research.
29:09 The information space as a place of kinetic versus non-kinetic warfare, state and non-state actors, seeding information, the separation between the user and the customer, and the extent to which we need to consider the cognitive impact of what we put on social media.
45:48 What the O-O (online-offline) convergence means for the future of conflict - from the military operation domain in terms of the physical, virtual and cognitive dimensions.
51:52 Augmented reality, O-O convergence, the potential of not being able to tell the difference between what is real and what is virtual, murder in the metaverse.
59:30 Warfare as: ‘antagonistic political struggle’. The role of cyberpsychology in warfare and lawfare.
1:07:15 How academics are becoming more proactive in publishing their research and knowledge online.
1:11:29 Book recommendations including Mary Aiken’s ‘The Cyber Effect’ and Mark Urban’s ‘The Weaponisation of Everything’.
1:21:12 Neurolink and the biological possibility of human-machine integration and human consciousness download.
