You want to do diplomatic visibility on anyone you wage war with. It gives your units more combat strength for "intel on opponent" by having a higher access level than them.
I'm late but I love doing this with Mongolia Kublai. A trade route, an embassy and a spy while refusing their embassy and trade route can grant you a +18 combat bonus. Even more if you got to Printing before your enemy
Amazing finds. The wiki/fandom doesn't say what exactly the consequence of these actions are, and I am so glad someone did the tests and research to find out.
Thank you for that hard work. This is the one subject remained very mysterious so i tended to neglect it as a feature but its suddenly got clarity and real usage again. Loved the ending of that game btw - you cant beat the Thermonuclear bye bye to a particularly troublesome civ. As bad as that actually is ...
Awesome video! Do you have any idea if the quartermaster promotion stacks? Based on how polygraph works I'd assume so but I'm curious if you have confirmation on it. Also, do you know by how many levels exactly the intelligence agency building buffs your spies by?
Thanks for the video... When i moved from civ 5 to 6 i absolutely hated the spy system so much that i had to install a mod to completely remove them from the game. They just felt broken AF and the AI is exploiting them more than any other unit in the game. Now after i've put few hundred hours ingame and finally feel like civ6 is my preferred game over civ 5 - i feel confident in trying to play with spies again
@MohProbs in civ 5 they were glorified envoys and used in enemy civ they could either give you some info on what they building or steal tech. In 6 the AI loves to spam them and just disrupt my districts etc
Nice. Even the game wiki doesn't have thorough research like this. I wonder how Amani with Local Informants promotion would influence enemy spies. Additionally, I wonder if city-states you are suzerain of count as count as "home territory," meaning if a polygraph spy will prevent fabricate scandals in city-states. Do spies counter spy in city-states, and if an enemy spy gets captured by a city state, does the suzerain get the spy? I guess it doesn't matter since city-states are pretty niche and the AI never goes for them in espionage.
@@MohProbs Your video is very good, and it covers everything I would reasonably need. Excited for a new, more thorough video! Though Civ 7 is coming out soon, so don't worry too much about it.
Thanks for your videos. They are very, "to the point". Although, I don't think the game producers would like your idea of the spy taking a "cyanide pill" to avoid capture though. It's a little too dark and grim.
tbh im not too sure. maybe something i could try testing (although not sure how reliably i can get it), but i'm inclined to think it's at completion? i wonder if the hit rate is locked in when you initiate the mission or if it can change...
I thought it weird when the civs only had spies and espionage in renaissance, when in history spies were used as far back as ancient Era, even in the bible made mentions of spies. IMO a very interesting game if they enabled espionage in ancient Era, nurffed obviously until later tech and buildings give espionage more options. What a missed opportunity!🤦♀
Historically it doesnt make sense, but from a game design perspective i can understand not wanting ppl to be able to mess with each other too early. Would be very cool tho and maybe a mod idea!
if you mean what i think you mean - you have to send your spy to an enemy city with a campus. if they have researched any technologies that you haven't yet, then you should be able to conduct the steal technology mission which gives you a eureka

Great job. New to Civ, just starting a game with Catherine and her spy buffs but had no idea what they did. This cleared up a lot of stuff!
thanks for checking out the video!

appreciate you taking the time to check it out :D
watched a few videos on this subject. this was by far the best one 🙏
appreciate that robin! means a lot
I appreciate your thorough and crystal clear approach 😊💯 Thank you for your dedication. Great vid, very dense content.
appreciate you taking the time to watch :)
One of the best civ RUclipsrs in my opinion
thanks homie!! appreciate the love :D
Severely underrated channel - although I suppose that's because Civ 6 is pretty niche.
thanks jlo! appreciate the support :D

Im not certain, but i would think that it stacks. If i get some time to do more testing i will update
Very detailed video. Thank you!
Thanks for checking it out :D
Great stuff. Super useful, thanks!

it's been a while since i played 5 so i don't remember spies there, but i love spies in civ 6!

yes - i realized later on i didn't do enough with the city-state missions. maybe something for another vid!

with civ, the atrocities are implied :)
If I have 9 spyd I'd prefer at least 3 with seduction quartermaster and polygraph doing some sort of defense in home territory
sounds deadly - especially if ur already ahead
Is it generally a good idea to use gain sources first? Seems that if I don’t spy’s get caught more than succeed.
maybe its possible, but if we go off the percentages alone then id say yes gain sources makes sense
Good one plecent voice!
thanks :D
Do you know if a spy bonus from world congress that is available only for some turns is relevant at the start or completion of a mission?

Guys i have a question: is listening post accumulabile or is it once time? And also when do diplomatic visibility goes down?
i don't believe so, but if i test it i will let you know
@@MohProbs thanks
How do you get the spies to activate the Eureka to speed up a project from the technology tree?

Do you think you can do a tutorial or play through with Shaka Zulu
i'll definitely see if i can get to it - but might be a bit cuz i have some other vids for now. maybe after i finish the let's learn civ series
Vsauce music? Nice
Tobacco should be used as spy’s too
what do you mean?
Ahh IT ALL MAKES SENSE Now lol
Every time I try to use em they fail
sounds like u got some double agents in ur ranks
😮😮😢😢
:o
I would have watched this till the end if u werent whispering like an inseect
sorry
